Movie Magic previews Half-Blood Prince
Movie Magic magazine's latest issue includes a really big spread for Half-Blood Prince. They interviewed a variety of cast and crew, who also spoke about the upcoming Deathly Hallows film. Movie Magic: Because you have actors performing against the small parts of the cave you have to actually build, what aspects of it did you construct?
Stuart: We built that island, we built the boat that they travel in, and part of the shoreline they leave to get to the island. But they are like one percent of the total that you'll see in the final film.
Producer David Heyman on the Deathly Hallows split:
"You obviously need to find the right end point in the book halfway through," he says. "Each has to be a self-contained unit. Each film so far has been different from the one that preceded it, so we need to do that with Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2. There is the challenge of making two separate films that you want to have an identity of their own while you're shooting them at the same time. That being said, what is exciting , what works in our favor, is taht we have a very clear sense of what the two films are and what the thematic underpinnings of each part are, which in itself will provide a distinct nature to each of them."

Hmmmm. It'll be interesting to see where they chop it in half. I'm always been of the opinion that they should cut it right when Ron has returned and destroyed the locket, and they could end with the trio--reunited--looking across the lake with the hope of having just destroyed one piece of Voldemort's soul but still facing the daunting prospect of finding the remaining pieces. Ron's return gives the audience the bit of closure that they need to really be at piece with that installment, but it still keeps up tension for the final "hoorah."
wow. that's plain amazing. I too wish to know where the 'chop chop' will be in DH.
This just in: The Half-Blood Prince teaser trailer is now rumored to premiere in the first Deathly Hallows.

I hope they half it after the battle of Malfoy Manner, or maybe after Ron's return, as mentioned above. I think the escape gives a solid ending point though. UP2NOGOOD - LOL!!!

Typo, but otherwise satisfying. I think Heyman is a pretty cool guy. When they say about 1%, do they mean 99% of what we is CGI? I just wanna make sure. :D

17th? Everytime there's a new update on this website, I get sooooo excited! but it keeps reminding me of HBP, and it gets me excited, but there's no trailer and the movie is ages away. so then I get sad and agitated lol
up2nogood that made my day:)... Why are we getting all this stuff on HBP but we have no trailer!? I think that they should cut DH right when the trio walk into Gringotts to go to the Lestrange's vault.
ok they built it, thats nice to know. They even took some pictures of it, but did they film it? Teaser trailers are really short, if they don't have enough footage for that then, well there is a big problem

Yaaay!!!! I absolutely love movie magic, but it's also very expensive for a magazine in my opinion.

It's funny because, remember on the live show they were talking about it, and someone said that the trailer for part 2 will come out with part one, and then Matt joked and said that the trailer for Part 1 will come out with the movie, and now look what we are talking about.

Yeah I'm gonna agree that the trailer for HBP is coming out with DH pt. 2. Well, I guess we'll all just have to wait 135 more days to see anything but a few pictures from HBP. :I
I think they should split DH where the trio are about to be captured. It should go: Harry says Voldemort, Ron has a fit trying to tell harry not to say it, and the movie should stop when Greyback says "Come out, we've got like 20 wands pointing at this tent."
I think they should split the film during the scene where Harry yells, "WHERE THE F**K IS THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE TRAILER?!"

texas_hammer, at this point, I think that will actually happen lol! The ideal time for a teaser trailer to come out is about 6 months before the films actual release, right? (I know it can be up to a year before, but the usual HP teaser trailer time is 6 months-ish). I want to break something ... like a chair over the head of the sadist keeping this trailer from us.
Tonklin, go break the CEO's nose. Then keep breaking his fingers while I hold him down and give him a wet willy until he gives up the trailer. We would be everyone's hero.
im gonna die when the first half ends, and then we have to wait MONTHS for the second half. i would so go see it if it was one long movie, but i guess the splits better. ugh, well can you imagine what itll be like when all the hp fans are obsessing over that movie, i mean look at half blood prince. were all like OMG TRAILER I CANT WAIT, but the last and final movies, man its gonna be crazy

Note to everyone: Just be happy that the release to movie seven, part two hasn't come out yet, because when the series is over(Movie making), than the hp will be over!!! Said to say, but true!!!

@ loonymudbloodgirl8: Um, I figured we had well established this already, but--ehm--no Half Blood Prince trailer has been released. The current wisdom would say that the trailer is going to be released with the Mummy 3 at the beginning of August.
I really think that the Malfoy Manner scene would be the best place to cut it XD
lol I actually laughed out loud to that comment by texas hammer 3. It's so true. Do we even know WHY it's taking them so long to get this trailer to us? It better be the most amazing trailer ever. Question though... didn't they say in previous interviews about the HBP cave scene that they'd be shooting in an actual existing cave instead of using computers? I was pretty excited about that idea, and now they're saying only 1% of that set is real.
I'm glad everyone loved my comment lol. but no, they aren't filming the cave in an actual cave. They're building a big cave and they're saying only 1% is complete. It's going to be epic anyways.
I'm starting to think they will chop up book 6 and move it toward the 1st half of DH. As much as what happens in DH, it is still not enough for a full move. I started to think that, when they inserted non-canon stuff in move 6. It probably won't end the same way as the book. I'm starting to think Dumbledore won't get knocked off until the first half of DH.

hello everyone, my first post ever. i am coming neer the end of my book reading journey of all 7 books 7 times. and, i agree with the main of you guys in that either two suggestions for the split seem doable. malfoy manor, or ron's rejoining and first horcrux destruction. and if any of the other movies have proved since the begining, total adherence to the books story is not likely. and for the most part, they have set themselves up for failure in some ways by not doing certain thing in early instalments. but since i didnt even start reading the books til after movie 4 came out, i learned to apreciate the movies for what they were. so i guess what im trying to say is watch the movie and like it!!!! or, well shut it and go back to reading the books. they will always be there for you.
i have been reading comments and i agree: it should be after malfoy manor after harry has dug the grave for dobby and told ron and hermione his decision to go for the horcruxes not the hallows. its perfect because its a whole conflict and resolution for that part I, where harry is struggling with his mission and what he should do (conflict) and in the end decides which path to follow (resolution). i think it also inspires the next movie as it is sets up harry's ascent to being absolutely invincible and in charge...you know, that emanating leadership he acquires after dobby's death. its an exciting prospect...what do you think?
Texas_hammer - Lol! You're vicious... But we SO would be heroes ... lets do it!! What else could we do to them aside from breaking chairs/noses/fingers/givi ng wet willies? OH! We could add some psychological torture - keep singing the Hogwarts School song, in the most god AWFUL tune you can imagine, untill they give us the trailer :D. Any other suggestions?
