My name is Jessie Pounds and I am a reporter with the Knoxville News Sentinel in Knoxville Tennessee. I am working on a article about the evolution of the fandom since the release of the final book last summer. If you are a Harry Potter book fan from or living in East Tennessee, I would be interested to talk to you. Send an e-mail, preferably with a phone number/time when I could reach you to poundsj@knoxnews.com, or call me at work at 865-342-6414 or on my cell at 865-771-2298.

Posted by BubbleGumPinkHair1 Jul 22nd 2008

To bad I just spent all my money.. But I already have a wand so its no big deal.

Posted by Rose37 Jul 22nd 2008

Sorry, but I never buy anything on the internet!!! I don't trust no one!!!

Posted by Fia Jul 22nd 2008

Tenth? Don't they do these deals a lot? Did you get my email, KNSReporter? I sent it yesterday. My name is Sofia... Will we be able to see the article online?

Posted by angelina_johnson92 Jul 22nd 2008

oo I already have the book but it would be beyond cool if I got a signed one. And it would be wicked awsome to have a tie and wand!

Posted by Fia Jul 22nd 2008

I really want an Alivan's Wand, but I don't want to get it offline... And the nearest place where they sell them is at the McWane Center and I don't go there a lot... Maybe they'll still have them when I go again.

Posted by shonz905 Jul 22nd 2008

cool! but i already have an alivan's wand AND a copy of What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7? so..........i think i'll pass =)

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

I have a woodturning lathe, so I make my own wands! But still, it would be cool to have a signed copy of What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7!! But I don't have any money, so... =)

Posted by texas_hammer Jul 22nd 2008

If I had to money to buy something, I would buy an orgasm. Or the rights to the Half-Blood Prince trailer.

Posted by alexxx Jul 22nd 2008

texas_hammer : well i agree with you on the rights to the half blood prince trailer...and thats about it.

Posted by texas_hammer Jul 22nd 2008

Lol I was kidding! xD Just a joke! Just a joke!

To KNSReporter Jessie Pounds: Why limit yourself to the fans living in East Tennessee? For the non-HP fan to fully understand the realm this has spread, wouldn't it make sense to talk to fans outside of East Tennesse as well? Just a thought. On to the topic at hand: I've already got a wand and Mugglenet's book...so I will pass on this one (economy sucksbigtime right now) and to texas_hammer: we really don't condone the oldest profession here in this forum. Regardless if you are joking or not. Usually, a joke has a bit of truth in it....so I'm sorry you feel you would have to buy it.

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

I live in western North Carolina!!!

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

That is so cool, fireheart911!!!! I wish I had something to make myself a wand instead of paying an arm and a leg for one from Alivan's.

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Yea, It costed $60 including shipping for a hobby lathe at Grizzly.com! I know that a wand usually doesn't cost as much as $60, but I can make other things with it too!! Right now I am working on making replica wands from the first two movies. Also, there is a website that tells you how to make a wand from a wood dowel and Sculpy. Great for the POA, GOF, and OOTP style wands! The website is http://users.owt.com/ bluefox/Bluefox/wandmakin g.html And the wand that you make gives you a greater feeling knowing that you made it. But still, it isn't quite as accruate as Noble Collection, or Alivans, But hey, I'm not complaining

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Oh, leave out the spaces in the website. I typed it without spaces, bt it showed up on here with spaces, sorry!

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Oh, and it is www.grizzy.com

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Oh, and using a lathe is extreamly tricky, it took me three months to finally get it right! If you buy one, just make sure to get the wood fully centered on it before working on it, if not, then you will only carve half of it and the other half will be exactly as when you started!!! If you only want one wand, and you're not a collecter, then you might want to do either a sculpy wand, or just buy one so that you don't waste any money.

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Plus, don't think that using a Lathe is a flop. If used properly, the wands end up exactly as they are on alivans. What got me inspired was my uncle, he bought me the willow wand from alivans for christmas a few years back. So i asked for a lathe for my birthday, now I make wands for my family and friends for christmas. It's a great hobby. Plus I like art, so it's art too!

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Hey, loony_luna2, a thing of Sculpy costs about $5 for a package of white, and a wood dowel costs about a dollar, plus you may want to paint it, so in all it costs about $7 to make a wand using Sculpy. It isn't all wood, but neither is Noble Collection so...

Posted by secrets_and_magic Jul 22nd 2008

I love making my own wands. Plus, I already know what happens in book seven :)

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Yep!!:D

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

WOW!!! Thanks for that info. I don't think I have $60, so I will probably just ask my mom to get me one for my birthday or Christmas.

Posted by Hedwig8 Jul 22nd 2008

Making your own wand sounds really cool. I wouldn't even know where to start though. But it sounds like a lot of fun.

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

Yeah it does. Too bad that I'm not the hands on type. I'll probably end up making my first look like a piece of driftwood.

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Yep, it is fun, but sometimes complicating when using the lathe. But yea, I still love Alivans wands, and like I said, they're great (if you arn't collection or giving them away like me) if you just want one, after all a wizard only needs one. I have made my own wand that is my mine, all of the rest I have given away. (I have alot of family and friends)

Posted by Hedwig8 Jul 22nd 2008

Yeah, I'm not very crafty either! Too bad tho 'cause I would like to make one. I don't have one at all yet, so I guess I'll just buy one.

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

HMMM I don't know. Just buying one from Allivan's is starting to sound very convincing. (Like I said I'm not the hands on type).

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

HMMM I don't know. Just buying one from Allivan's is starting to sound very convincing. (Like I said I'm not the hands on type).

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

Oh my gosh, why do I keep doing that? I'm not even in a rush to do anything this time.

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

LOL :) yep, like I said, making one is difficult, so you may just want to buy one from Alivans, I would too if I wasn't the hands on type.

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

:) By the way you are so right, nothing we are saying on here is at all related to the message.

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Yea, I know, but still it is fun just talking!! :) And on here we are talking about the message of wands, but arguing on the other one didn't at all go with the message.

Posted by fireheart911 Jul 22nd 2008

Well I'll talk to everyone later!!

Posted by loony_luna2 Jul 22nd 2008

Me too. See ya'll later.

Posted by Rose37 Jul 22nd 2008

Well, a near by crafter came to one of the book club meeting, late last year and had made a handmade wand, but in order to win the wand you had to win a hp triva game and guess what, I WON THE GAME!!! Everyone at the meeting was handed his bussiness card, but I missplaced his card. O, WELL!!!

Posted by Juliee_Malfoy Jul 22nd 2008

I am going to get Harry Potter merch, when of course I get money. I am already starting to work so it is all cool ;D.
