Half-Blood Prince teaser trailer now online!
Half-Blood Prince teaser trailer now online! (Digg this story!) UPDATE: AOL now has the trailer online in three different quality versions. Check 'em out HERE!

After initially appearing on MSN over an hour before the trailer was supposed to premiere on AOL, we now have the teaser trailer online in all its glory. For those of you who have seen both the MSN and AOL trailers, you'll notice that the MSN one says that the film is coming "This Year" as opposed to "November" in the AOL one. The web addresses also differ... AOL says HarryPotter.com while MSN says HarryPotter.co.uk.

Posted by SunB Jul 30th 2008

Finally! FINALLY!! Finally! I was starting to wonder if there is a film. The trailer was pretty good, though what is with Ginny in a bathrobe looking scared or something. I think it was when the Death Eaters attacked Hogwarts...or maybe not. Look forward to listening to MuggleCast to know what you guys (Laura, Matt, Andrew and co) think!

Posted by gretchenbecker09 Jul 30th 2008

This is simply AMAZING. Young Tom Riddle, fantastic. Dumbledore's suit? Wonderful. Did anyone else notice the memory vial with a triangle on the label?????? DEATHLY HALLOW Memories, anyone?! Just thought I'd point that out. :D Can't wait!

Posted by EchelonGirl Jul 30th 2008

I can't watch the trailer!!! My QuickTime keeps saying there's an error and shutting down! Can't they just do it YouTube style!??!?

Posted by EchelonGirl Jul 30th 2008

Okay nevermind. It was up on YouTube. Still, I've watched it twice! Oh wow...this is gonna rock!!!! Only a hundred and some-odd days!!!

Posted by bEtHyBoP13 Jul 30th 2008

YAYYYYY!! Dumbledore's finally being Dumbledore from what I can see :] I love the whole thing! Hopefully the Theatical Trailer will have more characters in it, I really wanted to see the Slughorn and Hermione scene we saw a pic of, but I'm not diappointed - this trailer is amazing! I keep watching it over :]

Posted by leighpotter Jul 30th 2008

YES!!!!!I loved it!!! Though I missed Ron and Hermione:( But Ginny made up for it!!!!!!!!! And Tom is absolutely amazing!!! And while M. Gambon has never really been Dumbledore for me, in the memory scene (and on the island with all the fire) he did a good job!!!Yay!!!

Posted by Mully Jul 30th 2008

One word..........WOW!!!!!!!! ! That is unbelievably cool WOW I love little Voldemort he's amazing and it the end when he was turning into present day Voldemort, that sent shivers down my spine it was soooooo well done!!! My favourite book looks very promising to be excellently done as a movie!!!

Posted by LindseyBindsey Jul 30th 2008

People must stop going on about Michael Gambon... too harsh, too grumpy, too loud, too awesome o.O Just stop. He's only doing what the script says. Like that line "Don't you all have studying to do?!" It's not as if he wrote that line, lol. He had to say it because it was in the script so that's not a good reason to hate him, I think. Anyway, great trailer :D Now for the full length one!!

Posted by crispyo Jul 30th 2008

WoW that was an AWESOME trailer. by far the best HP trailer ever.

Posted by Sherbet_Lemons Jul 30th 2008

That was so worth the wait! Hopefully it means more to come soon - I love coming home from holiday and finding this stuff! Only one thing - when Dumbledore is in the cave surrounded by fire, why does he appear to be balancing on a pile of giant ice cubes?

Posted by LindseyBindsey Jul 30th 2008

I think the 'giant pile of ice cubed' are the steligtites... stalegmites... something like that. I think it looks cool.

Posted by harry_p_7 Jul 30th 2008

omg om gomg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg...........!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! yaaaaaaaaaay!!! ok that was the best trailer!! it was about mostly tom, but isnt that what the book is centered on?? just wow, i think the added scene will be amazing, so far by how it looks. harry in field, ginny losing her wand.. ahhh!! excitment! :D and the cave looks awsome, their standing on like crystals or diamonds !! :]

Posted by JM_Potter Jul 30th 2008

AAAAHHHH IT IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!! About time eh!!!???? Looking forward in seeing the whole thing!!!!!

Posted by NightStar Jul 30th 2008

This apprears to be counrtyest!! as when I trided to view I got "not available in your area"! great when do the uk get to see this?

Posted by piper1871 Jul 30th 2008

It says in the set report that the attack on the Burrow should be a good start for the movie. So the kiss Ginny and Harry almost have, must be during the summer before school, because thier almost kiss is supposed to be enterupted by Death Eaters attacking. Which would explain why Ginny is in a robe and not in the clothes she's wearing in the picture of Yates, Harry, and herself that shows a CHRISTMAS tree in the backround.

Posted by Sonka1 Jul 30th 2008

I'm sorry if I ruin this happy athmosphere of excitment but I didn't liked it.Well... I'm disappointed whit that trailer. Ofcourse, there are great special effect and it all looks amaizing when I frist watch it but I felt that something is missing here... First, this kid who plays Voldemort. He is nothing like young Tom Riddle - he semeed to be frightened by Dumbledore. Then he speak in so flegmatic way... His "Prove it" doesn't sound so confidental like in the books. Ofcourse some of you probably say that this is the movie not the book and if you wnat the book then go read it but that's not the point. In my opinion if they want to film this book they should at least keep up whit details. I don't like this young Voldemort,- too flegmatic, too frightened, too... well, not-like-young-Voldemort- from-books. I don't like Dumbledore like this - he's nothing like Rowling's Dumbledore (just look at GoF movie - too much shouting, too much movements). Where is this famous suit? Where are his brown locks? It's not only about his looks but this vision.. his acting. In books Rowling shown great how Dumbledore changed through the converstation whit young Riddle - here I didn't see it. I didn't see.... Well, nevermind. It helpless to say that details are really important for the books - becouse if they change everything then least deatils such as clothes will stay the same - 'couse they won't listen fans anyway. This little trailer show exctaly what we get - forget the books, here come the Super-Changed HP MOvie whit cutted out most important plots in books.Yay! Be Happy! Geez, I don't like it... I think that before they start shooting 7 part they should sit down and think twice before they'll cut too many things. And for this one - I liked music here:) Sounds like from some horrors movies:)

Posted by Sonka1 Jul 30th 2008

"It helpless to say that details " - I meant hopeless. Sorry:)

Posted by gryffindor_gal_714 Jul 30th 2008

OMG!!!! FINALLY, FINALLY IT'S HERE!!! it was bloody amazing, and the kid who does tom riddle is really good at playing the part, just sounded so creepy. can't wait till the movie!

Posted by forever_charmed Jul 30th 2008

Can I somehow download the HD version??

Posted by christianaeg Jul 30th 2008

lol i downloaded the HD version...even though i don't have HD... but hey. it worked..

Posted by OrangeBimbo Jul 30th 2008

Loved it! Defiantely worth staying up for otherwise I wouldn't have slept anyway. But I couldn't watch it on AOL, it wasn't very good quality for my laptop, so I watched it on youtube! It was bloody brilliant as Ron would say! They have certainly cast the right little Tom because he was dead creepy! I have watched the trailer over ten times now, and I noticed that thankfully they have put in Ron getting poisoned. And Ginny in her dressing gown? Well that was a bit of a mystery but I'm thinking that maybe it is from the the part of the battle at Hogwarts when Dumbledore and Harry come back? LOVED THE TRAILER!!!!!! I can't wait I can wait I can't wait, I can't wait! I am so happy, I love you all!

How can i download the HD trailer on to my computer. Anyone know?

Posted by cricketmiranda Jul 30th 2008

*grins* finally it looks like we might just get a movie where very few details are left out, and about time too! those of us who are... repeated book readers often feel a sence of discapointment when we watch the movie the first time, then it grows on us, but we still know.... things are missing, maybe this will live up to potter fans expectations at last, great teaser, cant wait to see the movie!

WOW that was SOOOOOOO cool I can't wait until november!!! Course, it was only about five minutes long, but it was a long-anticipated and way-worth-it five minutes!! This is the first time I've seen the young Voldemort actor and I think he did REALLY well!!! YAY IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!!

Posted by guyaboutmovie Jul 30th 2008

Half Blood Prince was one of my favorite of the book series. In November, fans of the books and films will get David Yates' cinematic interpretation of the work. Based on the first trailer for the November release, it seems Yates understands the importance of the central thread to the mythology of Rowling's work. -- guyaboutmovies.blogspot.c om

Posted by browncoat Jul 30th 2008

This is a really well executed trailer. The climax is amazing and has a rather foreboding feel for it.

Posted by Binks11182 Jul 30th 2008

This movie is going to be beyond awesome!!

Posted by sophi Jul 30th 2008

yey! im so happy i wanna cry! [; [just kiddin] yey!!!

Posted by Nick17 Jul 30th 2008

The trailer was very very good! I'm pretty sure that ginny in the bathrobe was her at the burrow. I do wish i could have seen more of hermione but Young tom riddle is just perfect. Ralph fiennes(voldemort) nephew for those of you who didn't know. I can't wait till november and I'm kind of interested to know when the theatrical trailer will be coming out! :]

Posted by hermie1958 Jul 30th 2008

Tom Riddle was perfect! A little boy that looks nice and innocent but those eyes, the face, no way is he sweet and innocent. He was delighted when he saw the fire magic.

Posted by lunylori Jul 30th 2008

I think that its a great TEASER trailer. Some of y'all need to keep in mind that this is just the TEASER. I am sure the full trailer will include a lot more of the lighter side of the movie that the cast has been talking about. And honestly, do you really think they would have a trailer without the full trio in it?? and PS - I LOVE that they do a quick clip of Ginny...when they could have easily used an image of Hermione.. H/G love

Posted by MaiceyMay Jul 30th 2008

Im about to cry with tears of happiness. THAT WAS THE BEST FREAKIN TRAILER IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH that was incredible. Im actually jumping for joy. Tom Riddle is sooo PERFECT.....gosh *breaks down in tears*

Posted by CelticsGolf28 Jul 30th 2008

As far as teaser trailers go, this one was great. They nailed the initial scene in Dumbledore's office (btw, i agree with one of the comments posted above- one of the vials does look like it might have a symbol on it..the Deathly Hallows?). The orphanage was chilling, and young Tom was perfect. The field scene must be the inital add-on, and I'm almost certain that man growling is Greyback. Ron poisoned, the Inferi scene, even the last line at the close...it is all pointing to the best movie for the fans yet. Now, we better not get ahead of ourselves- this IS WB, after all- but it looks like there will not be a lot left out of HBP, and we're in for a hell of a movie. Now let's get the full length trailer!!!!!! ;)

Posted by hpfan31 Jul 30th 2008

whoa that trailer was pretty crazy, glad WB cleaned up their act and made the story line seem like the books one

Posted by SnapeZgood Jul 30th 2008

LISTEN!!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE TO BEAT THE DARK KNIGHT!!!!!! It keeps breakin records and they say the new twilight movie will be better than harry potter....... NO. This crap can't happen. IF you LOVE harry potter you will band together on november 20 at midnight and see the movie in theatres.....PLEASE.

Posted by CelticsGolf28 Jul 30th 2008

Speaking of the Dark Knight..Was I the only one, given the whole creepiness of the scene and the music, that was reminded of the Joker when Albus said to Tom..."Well, I'm like you, Tom....I'm different." "See, to them, you're just a freak...like me!" I think I've seen the Dark Knight one too many times. But HBP will still be the best. =]

Posted by armywife012205 Jul 30th 2008

My heart just stopped.

Posted by dont_look_down Jul 30th 2008

Great, great teaser. Imagine if WB did decide to put this in imax in front of the dark knight...wouldve been amazing. For those complaining that it centres too much around young Tom, dont forget we dont get to see adult Voldemort in this movie so this will make up for his absence. To that person who wasnt happy with Tom seeming afraid of Dumbledore...duh! the only wizard he ever feared ring a bell? Now that theyve officially finished filming AND editing, theyll probably be working on the theatrical trailer! Wonder what the playing time will be? Hope its long

Posted by phoenix_knight Jul 30th 2008

WOW! THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST TEASER TRAILER OF HPM YET!!! Oh and Sonka ABSOLUTELY doesn't know what he/she's talking about... CLEARLY you haven't read the book well. of COURSE Tom Riddle is Afraid of Dumbledore... and dumbledore looks terrific! He's supposed to be in his 50s you know... SHEESH!

Posted by MiracleMira Jul 30th 2008

I have a good feeling about this one, it seems the closest to what I had imagined this scene would be like. It's too early to tell but I think this might be my favorite movie of the series so far. Can't wait ;)

Posted by thediarywithin Jul 30th 2008

OMG!!!! It was so great. I love it. Young Tom Riddle is wonderful and creepy. Perfect cast. I love the last line it's perfect same as the rest of it. Ginny looked great I am guessing that's the battle at the burrow. And Harry is running away from Greyback. Greyback looks great even. Ron poisoned looks great. omg, everything looks great. I can't believe it's only a teaser trailer better then the last one..*squee*

Posted by apwbdsgirl Jul 30th 2008

I totally agree with Sonka1 - You are all crazy if you think this is as amazing as you say it is! I'll admit that it's nice, for once, for the dialogue to be taken straight out of the books and into the correct character's mouth (Kloves has a bad habit of taking lines from one character and giving them to another which is bad because it messes with character motivation, development, personality, etc.) and I'm happy that Dumbledore is more Dumbledore-ish than the past films. But go back and read this book or even this scene and you'll realize this misses the mark in terms of tone and motivation. Sonka1 is right - Riddle is not afraid of Dumbledore. Half his dialogue is IN ALL CAPS and he shouts at him. PROVE IT! TELL ME THE TRUTH! Etc. This Riddle is creepy, yes and that's fine but Voldemort, even young Tom Riddle, isn't creepy. He's domineering and commanding and assertive. He's not afraid of authority - he wants the control. He should be freaked out when all his worldly possessions go up in flames, doesn't just watch it happen because while he knows he's different, he doesn't know the rules of magic yet - how can he not be shocked by it (and he is in the book!)? And keep in mind that they've admitted that there's only 2 or 3 memory scenes. You best hope that Dumbledore does not introduce this scene as the most important he's collected. Because it's not. In the American book, on 360 and 364 it's stated that Slughorn's memory is the most important. Dumbledore says it again when he reprimands Harry for not trying harder to get the unaltered memory. Yes, the books are up for interpretation but it would be nice if they kept in some of those little details that requires little effort on their part but is still a nod to anyone whose read the book. What difference does it make if Dumbledore's in the pin-stripped suit here or in the crushed purple velvet suit in the book? Virtually nothing - except it makes fans happy to notice they kept in a fun detail.

Posted by phoenix_16 Jul 30th 2008

I agree with apwbdsgirl - they could have kept in some of the small things that make no difference to the moviemakers, but are nice little details that will make readers like the movie that much more. and the way they did the young Tom Riddle wasn't very good at all. But beyond that, I think that this movie will be very good and I am definitely looking forward to it.

Posted by phoenix_16 Jul 30th 2008

I went back and rewatched it, and I've changed my mind. Tom Riddle actully was good - more powerfull than I had thought at first. I'm SO excited!

It was a pretty good trailer. I liked the young Riddle parts, but I wish they would have shown more variety. From a non-Potter fan perspective, it probably came across as a bit of Narnia and LoTR with the whole Dumbledore surrounded by fire thing...but all in all a good trailer! I'm excited! :)
