Entertainment Weekly's HBP set report now online
Entertainment Weekly's HBP set report now online The other day, we showed you scans from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly - they had new photos and a set report from Half-Blood Prince.

EW has now posted the report on their website. There's lots to be learned in this report, including news about the opening sequence where Harry is "flirting with a waitress".

There's also a bit about the flashbacks:

Kloves was girding himself for a grind, but after writing an unwieldy draft that included almost every flashback, the scribe and the franchise's current auteur in residence, David Yates, changed course. ''We distilled the flashbacks down to three. We see Voldemort as a little boy, and then on two occasions we see him as a student. By doing that, we honor the spirit of what Jo [Rowling] had done but avoid getting stuck in narrative cul-de-sacs."

*enthusiastic/sarcastic* OHH! Dobby's wedding is my favorite part! I always get so happy! He and Winky are so perfect together! Let's hope they keep that in! And Dumbledore's evading death scene!

Posted by Fia Aug 16th 2008

What about the Malfoy/ talking toilet scene that Myrtle was supposed to be in? Is it still in the movie?

Posted by the_shrieking_snack Aug 16th 2008

lofl, the toilet-animagus PWNS! love it! *srcsm*

Posted by Fia Aug 16th 2008

It was your idea!

It was your idea!

Posted by the_shrieking_snack Aug 16th 2008

mehhh, you're right. it was my idea wasn't it? lofl, yeah, they should SO write a part for it! haha, most devious. i like it. :]

Posted by Fia Aug 16th 2008

;) They should! IS the Draco/ Myrtle scene still in there, but with someone else doing the comforting since Mrytle got to old?

Posted by TonksTheTiger Aug 16th 2008

Harry's going to effing flirt with a waitress!?! What!!?? That DOESNT HAPPEN! *Grr*

Posted by Harry1Potter1Loony Aug 16th 2008

everything EW said about the movie looks great and fine but even if i am someone who doesn't really care about a word to word adaptation, i have to say this : HOW IN THE NAME OF GOD WILL HARRY FLIRT WITH AN EFFING WAITRESS????? DO THEY MEAN AS IN EXCHANGE LOOKS OR JUST A NOD???? :@:@:@:@

Posted by thelexirumor Aug 16th 2008

Myrtle is not in the movie. Looks like Draco will be crying by himself....

Posted by tonks654 Aug 16th 2008

hahah that was hilarious thelexirumor........and seriously wats wrong with these ppl! leave dan alone!!!! its perfectly normal to flirt (ahem) at that age!

Posted by ohxgosh_itsxwhitnea Aug 16th 2008

I am going to hold this movie to SUCH higher standards. It had better be the most amazing thing I've ever seen to make up for this nonsense.

Posted by insanefreddy926 Aug 16th 2008

Of course they can add a part which isn't even in the book, and which Harry would never do in the book, but they can't just keep the same flashbacks the way they were in the book. I'm not going to the movie anyway because of the delay, but this just makes me not want to see it even more.

Posted by Abergoat Aug 16th 2008

Flirting? Oh, how fitting. Yeah, leave out the scenes that add to the story, add in some more pointless unrelated out of character scenes.

Posted by ApplaudtheActor Aug 16th 2008

While there has been, almost literally, NOTHING redeeming in the Harry Potter world this week, I found something really wonderful in this article- ..."Radcliffe offers comfort with a lingering side hug and whispered praise. ''Bloody f---ing brilliant, Emma. Just top-notch.'' I've been a real critics about the movies since they began, and especially about Emma Watson (can you say melodramtic one-note? Does a fun, likably Hermione not exist?!?), I think it's really wonderful to hear about the comrodery on the set. Sure, every film will say "we're one big family", but we all know most of it's bull. If Dan actually did say those kind words to Emma, that's a wonderful, rare thing. I'm an actor myself, and we're not always as nice and supportive to our cast-mates as we ought. There's my two bits.

Posted by wonwonandhermy Aug 16th 2008

*ahem* i believe it's culs-de-sac! ;p

Posted by rooon Aug 16th 2008

Harrys hotttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Rose37 Aug 16th 2008

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't get it!!! Why would the opening sequence be where Harry is "flirting with a waitress??? Doesn't book six open with the minster of both the muggle world and the wizard world talking about the attacks??? Why change the opening??? Hell, why change the book and movies, at all??? On another point, I so agree with shorting the past scenes. Too much time wasteded, if you ask me!!! Just like when the producers of the show "LOST" shorten charlie, questioning of his drugs back(watch lost, for more infomation)!!! At first the count was in the double digits, but than ended up being only three.

Posted by Rose37 Aug 16th 2008

I know this may sound weird, but does anyone agree with me when I say, that the picture for this article looks just like a picture that would be taken for the upcoming movie, Twilight. Just imagin, Just like they are positioned, Harry as Edward and Draco as Bella.

Posted by arwyn Aug 16th 2008

Boycotting Warner Brothers until further notice and no amount of bribing with shots from the movie is going to change my mind. Greedy morons!!!

Posted by LunaLovegood123 Aug 16th 2008

Yea HARRY FLIRTING WITH A WAITRESS! THAT SEEMS SO LIKELY! *SARCASUM!!!!!!!!!* THE BOOK DIDNT START OUT LIKE THAT! GOD... WB! GET UR HEADS BACK DOWN TO EARTH PLZ!

Posted by BlueOwlfire Aug 16th 2008

All I'm hearing from this is Blah, Blah Blah, we need more money.. I mean why else say we are pushing the movie back so that more people can go to it? Since the last movie made us so much money. And since this movie is pushed back it means the other two will be as well. And since when did Harry ever go into a resturant in HBP? Last I checked it wasn't until DH. AAnd since they cut the scene with the Dursley which I think they should have kept!!! It really brings home just how they feel and are they going to show that Harry now Owns Kreacher? Once again I'm saying I hate the movies but LOVE the books. D@mn you WB.. I would say some really bad things here but I must Remember it's not Mugglenet's fault that they are reporting the crap that you come up with and so they don't need to see the choice words I'm speaking right now to you WB

Posted by raverclaw Aug 16th 2008

I guess that means no Guants then. Bummer.

Posted by marfox Aug 16th 2008

i think there lying about the flirting with the waitress thing cause 1 that's not anywere in the book 2 that's not arry like J.K. wouldn't let them do that 3 David yates said the opening was going 2 be the bridge collaps but we wont find out till NEX YEAR!!!!!!! What really bugs me is that there is sooooooooo much good stuff in the books that they leave out to add in utter crap like harry flirting with a waitress.....what the hell has that got to do with anything? and...... I seriously hope that twilight comes out on the 21st of november in the uk aswell! does anyone know?

Posted by darkmysticphoenix2008 Aug 17th 2008

Yates needs to realise that he is making a mockery of the films. I seriously hope that they remove him before Hallows begin shooting and we get a director who can do Hallows justice. i mean come on cutting Dumbledore's funeral and keeping a scene where Harry flirts with a waitress. We need Yates' head. Instead of Hallows being the fitting film that we deserve to have close of the monumental series it will be the laughing stock of the year

Posted by Czechmetz Aug 17th 2008

I don't give a flying eff about HBP anymore. WB really blew this one.

Posted by angelina_johnson92 Aug 17th 2008

FLIRTING WITH A MUGGLE?!?!?! We all know book-harry would never do that, but I'm not very surprised that movie-harry is doing this. They are practically two different people!! Why can't they just keep things how they should be? I guess it's just too hard. *sarcasm*

Posted by merrymarge Aug 17th 2008

Maybe Harry is flirting with a waitress just before the bridge collapses. Then, everyone jumps up and runs out the door in time to see the bridge go down. And when did Herminone tell Harry that she was in love with Ron? He guessed it over time. I guess they dropped the Gaunts' because they couldn't find anyone who eyes drift off into two different directions. And I wonder if they will have the pasted version of Slughorn's memeory or the real one: The one where Harry tricked Slughorn into giving up the real memory after Aragog died.

Posted by key23 Aug 17th 2008

Is it true that there will be no Dumbledore funeral?

Posted by rooon Aug 17th 2008

do? Hot!

Posted by snape_is_my_antihero Aug 17th 2008

Oh, so the films "distill" JKRs "narrative cul-de-sacs" do they? And there was me thinking they simply butcher all her sub-plots, *silly me*

Posted by darkmysticphoenix2008 Aug 17th 2008

They are making Harry Potter movies into a laughing stock we cannot boast and defend our series with the same pride and honor as the Trekkies and Lord of the Rings and Star Wars fans can, I for one am disgusted and appalled at all the nonsense Yates is doing to the film and the many gaping loopholes we can spot in Hallows and it hasnt even begun filming yet. The standard for POTTER has dropped tenfold

http://www.new.fa cebook.com/group.php?gid= 23519089579 New facebook group planning to stage real live protests in front of any theaters playing WB movies world wide. Groups are forming for different locations. We even have t - shirts and all. Just two days ago, some of the people who I saw fired up and ready to take action, saying that they would not let WB get away with this, are already giving up. This is exactly what WB had expected you to do. Of course they knew they would get backlash for their decision, but they knew given a few months you would stop caring. It hasn't even been a week. Even if we can do nothing to change the date, I feel we have the right to let WB know how unbelievebly rude, ungrateful, and inconsiderate they've been to the very same people who made them rich. With Beedle And The Bard being released, this was supposed to have been a really good end - of - the - year for us fans. But they took it away because they want more money to add to the billions of dollars they already have. Harry Potter has been a big part of my life for many years. I will not take this in silence.

Posted by wierdlikeluna Aug 18th 2008

well i was already upset about the release date but i thought that i would forgive WB if the film was still going to be good. But now i won't because they have abviously ruined Harry's character! :(

Posted by nkk_kiara Aug 18th 2008

You can really help animals while getting free stuff, so check it out! : ) Oh! And go Harry Potter!!!! : )

Posted by jawaharyousuf Aug 18th 2008

HBP was all about the villain - how can they cut it out? Its the first book that Voldemort actually shows! How can they expect us to believe why Voldemort is the way he is by showing us a clipping of his childhood? This is absurd. WB is losing it. They cut out the good parts, and now they're delaying what's left of it too.
