Cheryl Klein judges Potter quiz at book festival
Cheryl Klein judges Potter quiz at book festival The Decatur Book Festival allows you to "immerse yourself in literature and poetry, meet Pulitzer Prize winners and probe the writers' mind... or you can dress silly, sing loud, laugh a lot and have the cheapest possible family outing."

Scholastic's Harry Potter "continuity editor" at Scholastic, Cheryl Klein, will judge a Harry Potter quiz on August 30th as part of the festival. AJC.com spoke to Cheryl about this role, a little about what she's doing post-Harry Potter, and whether she ever encountered inconsistencies in the Potter books: "Changes like that did come up. Talking about them is a little like violating lawyer-client privilege. It’s the author’s job to talk about those."

Posted by addicted2chocolatenhp Aug 27th 2008

?

Posted by janegallagher Aug 27th 2008

so is she responsible for the infamous wand-order error in GoF? because that seems like it would fall under continuity...

Posted by chommy Aug 27th 2008

I read the article thoroughly several times and I still don't understand.

Posted by june_21_2003 Aug 27th 2008

Huh?

Posted by wtfomghaxx0rz Aug 27th 2008

Cheryl Klein, HP's continuity editor, is being a judge for a HP quiz at some Book Festival. That basically sums it up in one sentence.

Posted by WB_R_LUNATICS Aug 27th 2008

what festival is this anyway??

Posted by merrymarge Aug 27th 2008

o.k. the wand order went like this: When Voldemort and Harry's wand duel ed in GoF, Voldy's wand had prior spells come out of the wand. Since he killed James before Lily, James shadowy form was to come out before Lily's Somehow, that was reversed, and Lily came out first. There was a bit of confusion, until it was explained that James should have come first.

Posted by Mario Aug 27th 2008

It is actually the reverse. Lilly died after James...... but James came out off the wand before her...... It was supposed to be in reverse order.

Posted by amy4dan1327 Aug 27th 2008

sounds like it would be lots of fun, but i live too far away, of course!!!! i met Cheryl Klein at a mugglenet/the-leaky-cauld ron podcast thing; she seemed like a very nice person!!! =]

Posted by BellaBlack7 Aug 27th 2008

How do you judge a quiz??? And where will this quiz be appearing? This article is very unclear. And it doesn't provide details about this festival either.

Posted by Romilda Aug 28th 2008

I'm totally going to try and get into this quiz. And if not be in it, definitely go just to watch.. I love being under 18 :)

Posted by emiliehope Aug 28th 2008

What's not to get? A woman named Cheryl Klein is judging a Harry Potter quiz at the Decatur Book Festival.. And for those confused about the wand order, in the end of GOF, when Harry and Voldemort are duelling and the Priori Incantatem occured, everyone Voldemort has killed were supposed to come out in reverse order, from most recent and backwards. Lily was the last one he killed, so she should have come out first, but instead, it was James. Lily came after everyone came basically. At least, that's how I understood it.

Posted by Monkey0 Aug 28th 2008

How does one judge a quiz? Either the quiz's author is literate or they're not. I mean come on.

Posted by rooon Aug 28th 2008

: ) weird.

Posted by alexxx Aug 29th 2008

hehee

Posted by merrymarge Aug 29th 2008

Thank you for correcting my mistake, Mario. I realised that I had the orderbackwards shortly after I posted. I was unable to respond sooner, I have been wrapped up. i wish i was able to attend the quiz contest. It sounds like fun. Even if I couldn't enter, it would have been nice to see how many kids would participate.

Posted by Romilda Aug 30th 2008

From what I saw today, she seems like a nice person, and that she's pretty knowledgeable about the series as a whole. It was interesting to watch, even if the only people that they let participate were definitely younger. Oh well. Could answer most of the questions. :)

Posted by angelina_johnson92 Aug 31st 2008

Well, thats cool... I guess.
