[Confirmed] HBP receives PG rating from the MPAA
[Confirmed] HBP receives PG rating from the MPAA UPDATE: The MPAA's official site has been updated with the rating. You can see it by clicking here and searching for Harry Potter. Thanks to Steven for the tip!

Rope Of Silicon and Ain't It Cool News are both reporting that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has received a PG rating by the Motion Picture Association of America. Surprising, given that Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix both received PG-13 ratings.

The MPAA rated it PG for "scary images, some violence, language and mild sensuality." We're currently checking this with Warner Brothers to make sure it's legit.

Thanks to Chris, Scott, Geoffrey, and Nizar for the tip!

how we found out how long HBP is going to be yet?

This is NOT A GOOD sign. Once again it appears a HP movie will be ruined by changing everything for kids. EFFING STOP IT RETARDS, ITS NOT A KIDS BOOK OR MOVIE.

CRAAAP!!! I was so looking forward to having the pants scared off me by the Inferi scene! Now they're gonna hold back on it for the kiddies. This SUCKS!!!

Wow, I'm suprised! I thought for sure it would be PG-13. Oh well.

HOW CAN HBP POSSIBLY BE RATED PG??????????????????????? ??

Posted by Freddie_Phoenix Jan 12th 2009

Oh, you Americans and your funny censorship. Yes, we can't have 12-year-olds see "mild sensuality", that might destroy them forever! Wow. Dumb.

what in the world? i thought hbp would have the worst rating out of all of them (most kissing scenes, violence- sectusempra etc, excessive torture- dumbledore at the lake and inferi, etc). this either means they really dulled the exciting scenes down or they just deleted them all, and that would be bad. very bad.

Freddie_Phoenix , I couldn't agree with you MORE! MPAA is stupid.. Have you ever watched "This Film Is Not Yet Rated?" It tells you the truth on what REALLY goes on behind the ratings board and comitee

He therefore had to endure over an hour of Professor Trelawney, who spent half the lesson telling everyone that the position of Mars with relation to Saturn at that moment meant that people born in July were in great danger of sudden, violent deaths.
