Photos from Cedar Rapids Mary GrandPre exhibit
Back in November we told you about a Mary GrandPre exhibit at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. The exhibit holds close to 100 sketches by the US Potter book illustrator. Now, MuggleNet visitor Kristin has sent us a great batch of photos from the exhibit. There's a lot of really cool work to be seen: a bird's eye view of Hogwarts, concepts for Deathly Hallows including this one and this one, a sketch of the merpeople scene in Goblet of Fire, and a LOT more!
All can be seen in our gallery. Thanks again to Kristin for the pics!

Very interesting. If I lived near there, I definitely would have gone, it sounds really cool
yeah top 2!!
The images are loading slow today. Hopefully things will speed up.
Pretty cool!
MuggleNet needs to do something about that gallery, it is slower than a dead turtle! I am getting extremely po'ed.
Yeah mugglenet galleries are loading slowly for me 4 ages and I have virgin's new 50 Mbps internet so I'm guessing it's due to their servers. Not complaining though because the pictures still load eventually and muggle net/cast/space are awesome!!!
These pictures are sooo awesome (even if I still prefer the UK covers lol), love her early drawing of Dumbledore! I'd totally go to this exhibition xD
This is pretty cool. I just noticed the sketches for the Sorcerer's Stone cover with the title "Harry Potter and the School of Magic." One of the versions of the cover has Fluffy on it.
Mary GrandPre's drawings are amazing. I would buy a book of those sketches.
I drove 4 hours to go to this. I went on my 21st birthday. It was a great day.
they are really good drawings- i wouldnt mind going to see her work at the museum? but wat is he pointing his wand at the 1st dh pic?
I live about 4 hours away on the other side of the state, but how many times do you see something this big in iowa? seriously... But I absolutely LOVE her work. :)
