Daniel Radcliffe and David Heyman talk Deathly Hallows split
Daniel Radcliffe and David Heyman talk Deathly Hallows split The latest issue of Empire Magazine, set to be released on April 23, will contain interviews with actor Daniel Radcliffe and movie producer David Heyman, as part of its Harry Potter feature.

Empire released a preview in which the pair discuss the splitting of the final film. Whilst no mention was made as to where the split will occur, David Heyman gives us an insight into how this point was selected.

"We've played around with a couple of places and ultimately settled on a place that we think is very exciting, and I think quite bold, in that it's not necessarily where one might expect. You want to give a sense of completion, on one hand, but a sense that there's another piece, more to come. We tried one and then Steve (Kloves, screenwriter) came up with the idea to try it another way and when we tried that, it felt just right."

Daniel Radcliffe added that the split is "at a very tense cliff-hanger". He also speaks briefly about filming the epilogue, saying, "I am nervous about that because if it's good I'll be really, really pleased; if it's not good and that's what people are left with, that would be awful. If it's a choice between having me, Rupert and Emma looking a bit stupid and it being slightly comical or having other actors play us, I would go for other actors every time. So, we'll see."

gah! tell us already!!!! and first? i hope they get other actors personally

Posted by Flaky Apr 21st 2009

Erm.....ok......

Posted by Dobby_09 Apr 21st 2009

I'm glad they're using the current cast for the epilogue scenes because then the audience wouldn't be distracted by thinking how much a different actor looks like or doesn't look like the original cast. Also, does anyone else think a good point for the climax of part 1 of the Deathly Hallows movie could be when Harry, Herione and Ron are captured and taken to Malfoy Manor because that also has a duel in it. There's also the death of Dobby to end on, maybe?

Posted by SlytherinBabe Apr 21st 2009

Slightly comical? No way....we will all be SOBBING by then. We may not even see the epilogue through our tears....

Posted by becka608 Apr 21st 2009

sorry dan, i think i would still rather it be the normal trio! ahhh! i need to know where the split is!

Posted by kyliejohnston16 Apr 21st 2009

I hope they tell us where the split is going to be before the movie comes out! Good Job Nick =]

Posted by thepriori_incantatem Apr 21st 2009

aww. i'll be crying waterfalls at the very start of the film. haha

Posted by Jalien Apr 21st 2009

Oooh no... cliff hanger! That's going to make the wait for the next movie even more painful. -but still.. I Like that they're having the original trio for the epilogue.

Posted by robbyrabbit06 Apr 21st 2009

I personally think Malfoy Manor is too far ahead in story for the split, Xeno Lovegood scenes is more of what i was thinking. We know that is has to atleast make it that far to give the audience who doesnt read the books to know what Hallows are so thats where i believe the split will be, right after they escape from the death eaters.

Posted by robbyrabbit06 Apr 21st 2009

I meant to add i hope they add a little more to the epilogue, like a tribute to Snape or something? I think the fans of him would really appreciate to see his portrait hanging in the Headmasters Office. If you think about it, its not a hard shot. Just follow the train to Hogwarts, through some halls to show how the damage has been repaired as there going along. Stops a second at the gargoyle then whines up the stairs, through the door and circles around the room stopping on Dumbledore who is smiling then turns his head and the camera follows and we see Snape's portrait

Dan - "I would go for other actors every time." Honestly, all of his narration and diction are amusing out of great eagerness on trailers, interviews etc. He can pull the epilogue off for sure.

Posted by iheartbooks Apr 21st 2009

I think they should split it after they break out of Gringotts. That way they'll have another Horcrux, and they can end it with the trio flying on the dragon.

Posted by Vipertooth23 Apr 21st 2009

robbyrabbit06, i like your idea for the epilogue. its really a very easy shot. but i think malfoy mannor is a very good cliff hanger, if they split it before that, we

Posted by Vipertooth23 Apr 21st 2009

might get a crappy 20 minutes battle of Hogwarts. :S.

Posted by robbyrabbit06 Apr 21st 2009

Actually i didnt think about that, cause they said the battle be around hr long or more so it has to be atleast Malfoy Manor then? Maybe Shell Cottage chapter?

Posted by mischiefmanager Apr 21st 2009

well, before i thought they'd cut it after the esacpe from malfoy manor, although that only leaves gringotts and the battle of hogwarts for a second film. seeing as he said they'd cut it somehwere unexpected - perhaps befoe they escape from the cellar, when hermione is being tortured? or even when harry is being strangled by the locket in the lake right before ron arrives? just imagine the creshcendoing(?) music! or they could rearrnage godrics hollow so voldemorts flashback is the end/ start? so many places...

Mischief I seriously hope not, to leave it at a tragic cliffhanger like either of those would break my heart even though I know the result. I would hate it if WB would stoop that low to have dire suspense be the end scene of the 1st movie.

Posted by jjjj92 Apr 21st 2009

I think they'll split it just as Harry sees the knife stuck into Dobby. That means they'' still have gringots, voldemort stuff, hogsmade, hogwarts and the forest and kings cross.... thats plenty left.

Posted by Wand Apr 21st 2009

when i heard dobby's gunna bo in both places ithought it would be the plce when they're just about to apparate to bill's cottage and bellatrix throws the knife i guess it'll end when the knife nearly gets to dobby or it'll show that you won't know where the knife goes and you just hear a scream! i'd really be wanting more if that happens! (although i know what happen next :(!! )

Posted by Pingypong101 Apr 21st 2009

Ahahaha, what if they cut it during the part that Snape dies? xD Of course, I know there are several things wrong with that. I think they're going to cut it during the Malfoy manor part, because Dobby has speaking parts in both films...

Posted by grim Apr 21st 2009

mischiefmanager, I was thinking the same - Hermione being tortured, before the others figure out how to get out. That's a pretty tough place to be, and it's a bit unexpected. Or maybe just as Harry and Dobby are going so that you don't know if one of them has been hit/killed. I mean, we'll know but the movie going public won't. Did they or didn't they make it out okay is a good cliffhanger. That is where I've always thought they might end the first one. I honestly think it would be a good place. That way, they get the fight in Malfoy Manor in the first installment, and Dobby is in both halves....

Posted by hermione_rocks3333 Apr 21st 2009

I think they should split it when harry pulls ron out of the lake pond when he got the sword, and theyre standing there looking at eachother and the movie ends! that would be a ral "cliffhanger"

Posted by acciocaitlin Apr 21st 2009

I still think it might be when Ron returns. That would 'give a sense of completion', but the fact that they still have all the Horcruxes to get would give a 'sense that there is another piece'.

Posted by iwantorlando05 Apr 21st 2009

I bet they split it right after Greyback and the snatchers show up...when Harry says Voldemort's name. That would be a great cliffhanger and it's right in the middle. Then both parts of the movie will open with Malfoy Manor....it would create a nice balance.

Posted by Quantummilkshake Apr 21st 2009

yeah, I agree with iwantorland05. It's gotta be when the snatchers show up at the tent and say "put your hands up!" That's right before Malfoy manner, so it's as close to Malfoy manner as you could get without going into it. Right in the middle. Also, it gives you a sense of completion because they just learned what the Deathly Hallows were and what Harry's task would be. And it DEFINITELY leaves you with a cliff hanger. I'll be very surprised if it's cut somewhere else..

Posted by alexxx Apr 21st 2009

i'm glad it's gonna be the current cast; i really don't know where they should end it. i mean theres parts where it would be really cliffhanger-ey but then again that's gonna drive me craaazzzzy waiting for it!

Posted by krazykobra29 Apr 21st 2009

cant wait to find out the cliffhanger!! hope itll be good...

Posted by hermione_rocks3333 Apr 22nd 2009

ahabh what i meant before was when ron comes back, and he pulled HARRY out of the lake and theyre standing there looking at each other
