Half-Blood Prince has 153 minute run time
Half-Blood Prince has 153 minute run time Our friends at HPANA have learned that the running time for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is 153 minutes (or 2 hours and 33 minutes). This would make the film the second longest to date, coming behind Chamber of Secrets by a few minutes.

Sweet! That should mean less things cut from the book! That also means we havent seen much clip wise...

Posted by vineet2099 May 26th 2009

That's great news!

Posted by vercordio May 26th 2009

And hopefully that'll be the *only* comparison we'll be able to draw with the Chamber of Secrets movie.

Posted by phoenixknighter May 26th 2009

AWESOME! I always knew it'd be alot MORE than OOTP... BUT i still wish it was LONGER than COS... it's annoying how that cheesy mechanical movie is still the longest HP movie to date! lol

Posted by phoenixknighter May 26th 2009

WAIT ANDREW YOU'RE WRONG AGAIN! AS USUAL, LOL JK. ;) ANYWAY HBP IS NOT THE 2ND LONGEST HP MOVIE, IT'S THE 3RD LONGEST! AFTER COS AND GOF, WHICH WAS 157 MINUTES!

Posted by Ishi May 26th 2009

Wooo great ^_^

Posted by PinoyDeathEater May 26th 2009

A 2nd or 3rd HP movie out of 6, but it still a lot important things from the book are ommitted; No Bill Weasley & Fleur Delacour, The Gaunt Family, House-elves, Moaning Myrtle, The Funeral with the participation of Centaurs, Merpeople etc. and many more...

Posted by Alas_Earwax May 26th 2009

:-). WOO

Wow, didn't know the CoS movie was that long. Kinda interesting... It is good news though, nice long movie ^_^

Posted by martinaluvsron May 26th 2009

Yay ^-^

Posted by fadnin2beautlite May 26th 2009

Ha yea its the 3rd longest HP.I didn't know they took that much out of it.I'm pissed now. They should have put the funeral. That's bull.Argh whenever thats still a long movie I guess.

Posted by muttw007 May 26th 2009

actually its the third longest. 1st.. CHamber of Secrets at 165 mins 2nd.. Goblet Of Fire at 157 minutes 3rd. Half Blood Prince at 153 mins

Posted by DARKIRONPOTTER May 26th 2009

YES! Sweet! I wanted it to be that long! But remember, Goblet of Fire is longer, so it's the third longest! I'm so relieved now. THANK YOU MR. YATES!

Posted by DARKIRONPOTTER May 26th 2009

Also, there is always 10 or more mins of credits. OOTP was long for a normal movie, but it was really 2 hrs 8 mins, excluding credits. Goblet was 2 hrs 25 mins. Chamber was 2 hrs 28 mins. SS was 2 hrs 20 mins. POA was 2 hrs 10 mins. That means this will be 2 hrs 20 mins- 2 hrs 25 minutes! WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Hell yeah!

Posted by kala33 May 26th 2009

FINALLY some GOOD news coming from WB. This is the most excited I've been for a Potter movie =D

Posted by TonksTheTiger May 26th 2009

Awesome!!! :D

Posted by citylove3583 May 26th 2009

ooooh yeah!!!! super excited now!!!

Posted by SaraLovesNeville May 26th 2009

This makes me really, really happy!

Posted by DeathlyHallows_07 May 26th 2009

YAY!...the longer it is, the more they include!!! :D Wish it could be longer tho, but you cant get everything you wish for

Posted by javan_weasley May 26th 2009

that is AWSOME i can't wait that's INSANE, that's such a difference from order of the pheonix, does this mean it's the longest so far?

Posted by FantasyWriterVB May 26th 2009

I'm so glad that this one is at least 2 and 1/2 hours long! They would never have been able to do this story justice in a shorter amount of time! I only hope that both parts of Deathly Hallows are this long, if not longer!

Posted by hermionenessie May 26th 2009

i'm glad that it's nice and long. even though they cut some things, the scenes they do include will be good and will not have to be rushed.

Posted by KingdomKeyblader May 26th 2009

I agree with the first post, at least this means that we will be seeing more of the book, and that the few juicy clips we've seen haven't taken away from the actual movie. This better bee good, I've waited a whole two years and two days to watch this! xP

Posted by hpintwense06 May 26th 2009

Two and a half hours plus three minutes? YAY! haha that sounds good to me!

Posted by hooked_on_Harry May 26th 2009

this is great news!! of course, imo, we all could sit through 3 hours plus!! and i'm really excited about the upcoming Hp weekend...didn't realize that was happening. thanks for the info! BTW...when will MN change the countdown? it's still 2 days off! my countdown is only 49 days and that sounds better than 51! anyway...thanks for the great news!

Posted by kaj9201 May 26th 2009

YESS!!!! I am so so happy it's not short like Order of the Phoenix.

Posted by twilightandHPluver May 26th 2009

SWEET!!! the longer the better! this also means we havent seen all of the clips in the trailers. i was afraid they were showing to much.

Posted by surferrosmerta May 26th 2009

Excellent! Now it's decorating time - where's the Half-Blood Prince layout Mugglenet?!?

Posted by marisa4231 May 26th 2009

yes!!! thats awesome!!! that means not as much cut from the books :D i never realised that harry potter movies were THAT long, i thought they were all ike 2 hours

Posted by angelina_johnson92 May 26th 2009

HECK YES BABYYYYY! I'm glad we have a long film, unlike OotP which was waaay too short for my liking. I cannot wait to see it. I have such high hopes for this film. :)

Posted by Monkey0 May 26th 2009

I CAN DIE HAPPY! :DDDDD

Posted by yRrAh_eLixir May 26th 2009

i can't believe this! i didn't know that C0S was the longest m0vie..! i always thought it was GOF...! and I SOO CAN'T BELIEVE that OoTP was the shortest! i mean, how was that possible, C0S was just a very short bo0k compared to OoTP...! this is REALLY unbelievable.. [how did they do that!?] and, oh, i'm glad that it seems we haven't seen the whole movie via clips.. s0o excited!

Posted by i_am_hermione May 26th 2009

NOW we're getting somewhere. It's still a little messed up that CoS is longer than the rest but what's done is done and I'm quite happy about the length of this one :)

Posted by Winky790 May 26th 2009

HECK YEAH!

Posted by AndrewW May 26th 2009

:D!!!!!! BEST HBP news yet!!! YAY!!!

Posted by i_am_hermione May 26th 2009

Ohh, you all are right; GoF and CoS are both longer than this one! My guess is that Andrew just checked the MuggleNet archives which say that GoF is 150 minutes. But who cares? It's still a goodly length and we should be pleased it's not shorter than OotP.

Posted by moviebuff May 26th 2009

woohoo! tis is great news for me. 153 mins is just about right to do justice to the book.

Posted by MrPoe May 26th 2009

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

Posted by HP_102 May 26th 2009

this is GOOD! this means that they'll get all the good stuff from the book into the movie. and plus, i'll be out until like three a.m. at the midnight showing now which is always a party(: hooray:D

Posted by iwantorlando05 May 26th 2009

YES!!!! It's the perfect length!! Not too short and not too long!! I love it!!!! I'm so excited. I was worried we were seeing too much in all the trailers, but now that I see how long the movie actually is....I'm sure there's still TONS of footage we haven't seen. With the trailers we've probably seen a total of ten minutes of the film. YAY!!!

Posted by evanna11 May 27th 2009

For some reason I always thought PoA was longest.. I think my mom told me it was like a 3 hour movie.. Strange. Only thing I knew apart from that is that OotP is shorter than PS.. (which really bothered me). It's good that it's so long and that we haven't seen that much clips yet..

Posted by iwantorlando05 May 27th 2009

SS is 152 minutes; COS is 161 minutes; POA is 142 minutes; GOF is 157 minutes; and OOTP is 139 minutes long; So this one is the third longest. I always thought POA was longer than it is too but I think it's because of the whole time turner thing...it makes the movie seem alot longer because we see the some of the same sequences twice.

Posted by diirector May 27th 2009

Haha guys guys guys... It IS the second longest, GOF is 157 minutes including the long credits at the end. The film itself without the credits is 2 hours and 17 minutes. Cmon guys, think ;)

I think I'm the only one who will say that COS was my favourite movie and book.

Posted by weasleyismyking7811 May 27th 2009

I still don't like your tone, boy. If you can speak of your beatings in that casual way, they clearly aren't hitting you hard enough. Petunia, I'd write if I were you. Make it clear that you approve the use of extreme force in this boy's case.
