Video interview with Adrian Jacobs Estate representative
On Monday, we told you about a new lawsuit against Bloomsbury from the Estate of Adrian Jacobs. The Estate claims that JK Rowling took various plot items from Jacobs' Willy the Wizard story. Thanks to MuggleNet reader Amy, we now know of a new video interview with an Estate representative. He spoke with the Australian Morning Show "Sunrise" - video is now available on their site.
Watching this video shows you how weak the case is. The representative repeatedly mentions JK Rowling allegedly stealing the wizard train, wizard school, and wizard competitions. In our opinion, those three items are very broad accusations for a court case.

This man is totally crazy or probably just want money =)
2nd! Let me watch it! Argh I was so close! lol
ANOTHER STEVE VANDER ARK IN THE MAKING.. Hahah NEXT!
I'm not even going to bother to watch this because this whole thing is so Ludicrous and Pathetic.
This man is completely delusional!!! Does he really think this stands a chance?? LOADS of people send stuff to christopher little...its hardly a big conspiracy to give JKR a plot line. Look at the 7 books. She came up with those all by herself, she doesnt need some obscure book to supply her with ideas. And in between all the stupid similarities of "wizard chess" "wizard train" "wizard contest" he fails to see that the HP books are one BIG plotline. The MAIN plot of book 4 was NOT the triwizard, it was the conspiracy to get Harry to the graveyard and Voldy being reborn!! The main plot of ALL the books is harry going through hogwarts, finding out about the horcruxes and defeating voldermort. A small book (36pgs i think he said) is hardly any comparison!!! They are gonna make this a big deal and waste everyones time...honestly...the things people do for a bit of publicity and money *shakes head in exasperation*
This is absolutely ridiculous. To think that the author's estate has spent one million dollars on this bogus campaign...there is no chance in HELL this will win. Has anyone read the excerpts from this book? It's terrible. And all this nonsense is just giving a low-rate book more publicity. Supposing that, (and they are definitely not), the allegations are true, wouldn't J.K. Rowling try to cover the "plagiarism" up? He's talking as if the things she "stole" were blatantly ripped out of that book! Chess, trains, and contests are nothing to be worrying over. These people need to find a better pastime other than tarnishing a good woman's name.
these people are so stupid they are making stuff up in order to get money from Harry Potter because the author of that stupid book didnt make as much money as Harry Potter and they are just jealous
ooo looks like the ccc captioners just got some inspiration for the captions!:)
Oh my gosh, that guy was SO annoying!
wait, i am confused the Bloomsbury report indicated that wally the wizard "booklet" didn't revolve around a wizard school... how then could JKR have stolen the idea for one (not to mention that she would have allegedly stolen it something like 12 years before wally the wizard was written) any way it is pretty lame
HA...The court case is costing them a million dollars which Im sure they are determinded to aquire back plus interest- just want aknowledgement my arse!!!...Have they not considered the fact that two writers may have just had the same ideas and written them down. Anyways, if JK Rowling really did steal ideas from Willy the Wizard then surely Willy the Wizard would be as big as the HP saga is now. I think that these two book are extremely loosely related and to be honest they are clutching at straws here!
these people are definitely full of crap and theyll never win, and how did she steal crap from that book if shes never even heard of it. i believe she came up with her own ideas and it coincidentaly was in that book and she never knew. they just want jk's money.
Note to mental Estate people with the lawsuite: You can't copywrite such vague and broad ideas. If that were the case the Star Trek and Star Wars people should be in eachother's faces. Wow, Hyper Drive seems exactly like Warp Speed... Hmmm... I guess that nobody is allowed to write new stories now, because all the vague and broad ideas have been used up. Rats, lol.
I completely agree s_black5- the Hogwarts Express and Wizard Chess isnt even the main plotline
This court claim has nothing to do with the millions that Half-Blood Prince is about to make does it? Some people never cease to amaze me, accusing a woman who gives so much of her money to charity and causes she believes in of thievery is absolutely without question ridiculous.
BULL F*CKING SH*IT THAT IS ALL I CAN SAY. I CAN'T BELIEVE ANYONE IS GIVING THESE FOOLS THE TIME OF DAY THIS MAKES ME SO ANGRY I JUST WANNA BEAT THEM OVER THE HEAD WITH A FRYING PAN ...'JUST ONCE MORE....FOR LUCK...'
THIS ALSO MAKES ME SUPER ANGRY BECAUSE IT PROBABLY STRESSES JO OUT AND TAKES TIME AWAY FROM HER CHILDREN AND FROM COMPILING THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA!!! I LOVE THE SUNRISE MORNING SHOW BUT WHY ON EARTH HAVE THIS FOOL ON YOUR SHOW. DONT GO UP AGAINST HARRY POTTER BECAUSE JO AND HER LEGIONS OF FANS WILL CRUSH YOU!
wow... me and my family had a trip on train around Europe a few years back... everybody in Europe has does travel by train... my dad and brother played chess in the train, does that mean that they stole the idea from the cover of Willy the Wizard, which by the way they have never seen in their life???... this is soooo bogus... "Dumbledore could be Gandalf, Voldemort could be Sauron... No, there wasn't a wizard competition in TLOR" but there sure was a giant spider and tons of battles between good and evil, we don't see Tolkien's state suing... S T U P I D
This lawsuit is ridiculus. the guy is trying to sue Jo over Wizard chess, Wizard Train, and a tornument. It would be like me saying, "I invented the wizard toothbrush" and then trying to sue other people. That guy is full of sh*t and the only reason they are sueing is because they want money. it the HP books had been a flop they wouldn't have sued. They're just attention seekings b*****ds. Jo's books were not based off of Lord of the Rings. They were based off of World War 2 events. Voldemort=Hitler, Death eaters=Nazis, and so forth. the next thing you know these crackpots will say, "Hey lets sue them, they used historical events". I completely agree with DarkMark the trains and chess are NOT the PLOTLINE!! and why are they bothering Jo, she doesn't bother anyone and she donates to charity. just leave the lady alone, geez.
Watching this guy made my IQ drop a little. I pretty much agree with previous comments, that the ideas are vague, specific events (tournament, chess, train) aren't the main plotline and the estate is wasting its time and money. It's purely a publicity stunt and I'm sure very annoying to Jo. Some people can't stand others success and just want some of the profits. Also, the idea of merpeople has been around much longer than Jo or the other "author". (Note my quotes). ^_^ Think Hans Christian Anderson.
I have 5 fingers and so does harry I'M GONNA SUE!
Well said, oakshaft79pn, well said.
Yes. I am an Australian resident and I happened to catch this interview on TV just before I left to school. I also noticed how weak the case was... they really doesn't have anything on Jo. Personally, I think they're after money, not recompensation.
Chill out guys. The whole thing is quite hilarious.

Whoo Koschy! Yeah, this whole story is just too rediculous for comment. The very thought that you can claim copyright over magical themes like half-humans... well these wally the wiz people or whatever that crap is called had better get onto the estates of Hans Christian Andersan, J.M. Barrie, and all the great poets of ancient Greece. After all, there's a quick buck to be made here!
WELL NOW APPARENTLY NOBODY ELSE IS ALLOWED TO USE TRAINS IN THEIR PLOTS BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WILLY THE WIZARD DOES!! I GUESS NARNIA IS OUT OF LUCK TOO AND SHOULD BE SUED..HAHA what a load of crap...seriously you can't use broad ideas such as trains, chess and competitions and then claim plagiarism, it just doesn't make sense...i suppose since willy used trains first nobody else is allowed to, and since he played chess before everybody else as a wizard, no other wizard should be allowed to play...and since he competed in a wizard's competition, no other wizard is allowed to do this because they'd just be copying him...this is complete stupidity. I think since LOTR used the word elves and wizards before Willy that they should be allowed to sue the Peter's estate but obviously they wouldn't do that because they aren't out trying to create money and publicity for their series because LOTR actually succeeded and quite obviously Willy the crackhead Wizard did not! and one more thing how could JKR have stolen the script when she wrote out the entire outline for HP before she even met an agent or bloomsbury...she wrote the entire first book which included trains and chess before meeting the agent that supposedly leaked those to "plot" points to her...load of CRAP!
oh and dangerdog22...the reason why people say that LOTR and Harry Potter are so similar is because as you said Harry Potter is based off of events in WW2....well so is LOTR which is why both of them look strangely similar without JKR meaning them to be...but seeing as the storyline is represented in an entirely different way and in a totally different time as well as setting then they aren't really in danger of each other...what willy the wizard is doing is taking a broad idea and claiming it as if it was their essential plot line..they also claim now that their essential plot line was used in HP and used in HP as an essential plot line which is not true seeing as the wizard's chess is just a funny tidbit added on and the students of hogwarts could have gotten to school some other way if they had wanted to...not to mention the tournament was just made to set up voldemort's return which is what the real main plot point is...not the tournament..voldemort's return...good now that we understand all of this we can all just move on and eat some cheesecake cause i'm tired of ignorant people
and wait the willy the wizard series is what 36 pages long compared to the encyclopedia that JKR wrote? haha well of course she may have used one or two of your ideas in the over 2000 pages she wrote of her own fantasy world you silly little people...
It's really sad when greedy people have to ride on other people's coat tails. This is such a ridculous lawsuit, I cannot even fanthom the thought of how this can even be presented in a courtroom! camken, I love your reply: "I have 5 fingers and so does harry I'M GONNA SUE!" LOL...
wow. that was stupid. seriously, everything that "everything that Adrian did, JK Rowling did." what an idiot. well apparently he didnt do a very good job writing his book, thats why no one has ever heard of it....pshh...

Also if you take a look at their website they claim J.K Rowling plagurised ideas from the second UNPUBLISHED Willy the Wiard book, which would not have been sent to Christopher Little, but to the company which published the original! - how would JK have got her hands on an unpublished book? and to be honest why would she want to? if it wasn't good enough for the company who printed the original it must have been rubbish.
