First? This sounds awesome, even though I know I wouldn't be able to go... I thought JK was no longer a patron of MS Scotland..?

It sounds brilliant! Wish I could go.

Sorry to add a downer to this, but I have a few problems with it. So I live in the UK, but don't you think it's a bit short notice? LeakyCon took about 2 years to plan, and you're announcing it two months before the event? I had a look at the website, and I see no passion in the organization at all. The main (and only, as I see it) attraction is meeting "4 SUPPORTING cast members", who will probably be along the lines of Dean, Seamus and the Patil twins. Where's the programming? Wrock concerts, discussion panels, key-note speakers? I'm honestly sorry, but I do not see any reason for me to attend this convention. It seems like it's just a company-run cast meeting other than an incredible event for Harry Potter enthusiasts to have an incredible time at. Sorry guys :(

^^Sorry, I meant one month before the event**

Posted by joyful_slytherin Jul 4th 2009

wow wish we were having a convention in the states, although your right musical_muggle i dont think i would want to go anyways, i want something with tons of booths and amazing fan competitions and jus idk, something more.... interactive

Talk about being unappreciative.

Posted by lovely_lainiexox Jul 4th 2009

I think this is a great idea but... didn't JK Rowling have a reason to stop being a patron of that MS society? I thought she didn't agree with some things they were doing. So since she stopped supporting it, I would assume she found something wrong with where her money was going. Just a thought. The idea of donating is great though. :)

I can't go, but it sounds cool. I think I was more excited to see that Jamie posted this than to see the actual post, lol. To those who can go, have fun!

Posted by Danni Jul 4th 2009

Announcing an event ONE MONTH before it is scheduled to take place is an awful idea. Especially when there's no actual details on the website about any of the programming, parties, or the supposed guests that will attend. Good luck with that.

geez musical muggle, get over it, at least your getting an event, while us in australia get absolutely nothing everrrr. yay jamie

Musical muggle, I see your point but I've gone to Massive Events cons before and they are absolutely AMAZING. It's run by a core group who really really care about their fans and do everything they can to make sure every last little detail is perfect. I'm not sure if it's compared to American cons you've drawn your conclusions - I've never been because of the expense but they seem a lot more large-scale - but the con I went to at the Park Inn (a Torchwood one) was so small and personal, I got hugs and chats off all the guests I wanted to just at the parties or in the corridors, because it was such a lovely con. You get to know everyone there which is awesome, the parties are LEGENDARY and I didn't stop laughing all weekend - and I went on my own. And this wasn't at the expense of guests either, they had most of the main cast of Torchwood there including some really big names. My family have done Twilight with Showmasters and loved it, I'm going again in October with a friend! Basically, don't doubt the company because they will make it the best weekend of your life!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention - for all the reasons I mentioned above, I am absolutely devastated I'm in Belgium this August. :( I've always wanted to do a HP con and for some reason (WHY?! HP IS BRITISH!!) they are always always always in America somewhere.

I would l

OMG That's amazing!! I went t a convention there earlier this year, also run by showmasters, and they're fantastic!! Plus the tickets are a LOT cheaper for this one which is cool. I really hope I can go

Posted by adriennecray Jul 5th 2009

Hahahahahahaa, wth. I live in a county called Northampton in Pennsylania. Isn't that peachy.

Posted by Hermioneisme Jul 5th 2009

Well at least they are not making that in the US. It's time for the UK fans have some fun hein. Too bad I don't live there. *le sigh* I'll never attend to such a thing

Posted by EdwardDiggory Jul 5th 2009

In my opinion, Showmasters do AMAZING conventions, just like Spectrum has said. I have been to a few (Eternal Twilight was awesome and can't wait for ET2) and has arranged to do another 3 this year. What people may not realise is that at this convention, you get 4 free autographs from "supporting" cast, but there will be at least 4 "regular" cast where you buy their autos seperately (usually

Posted by iwantorlando05 Jul 5th 2009

This is so cool!! I'm going to try to go! I wonder which Harry Potter stars will be there?

Posted by Spectrum Jul 5th 2009

moonshoespotter - I went to my showmasters con on my own and within about half an hour had made loads of new geeky friends so don't let that trouble you! Moneywise, this is incredibly cheap for a con - normal showmasters STANDARD tickets are
