Walmart slashes Half-Blood Prince DVD price
Walmart slashes Half-Blood Prince DVD price Reuters is reporting that Walmart.com will be offering its top 10 pre-ordered DVDs for $10 this holiday season--Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince included.

Walmart.com said on Thursday the offer includes popular movie titles such as "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" and "Julie and Julia".

The full list of $10 DVDs available for pre-order can be found here.

EDIT: Speaking of good DVD prices, Amazon is currently offering the Blu-Ray version of Half-Blood Prince at $16.99. Thanks Michael!

Do yourself a favor and everyone who could use a job that pays a living wage and don't shop at WalMart

Posted by jhh7487 Nov 5th 2009

That's cool. They were selling 1-5 for $9 the other day. I wonder if they movies are going to be available in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. BTW, I don't understand the first comment, it needs editing, or someone who has taken a higher level of English than 3rd grade needs to be responsible for that posters comments.

Posted by mallo7440 Nov 5th 2009

for me, it depends on the dvd. is it just going to be the normal edition or like the 2 disk special edition or something like that

Posted by Veggie_Potter Nov 5th 2009

Definitely agreed with HDMSTRSNAPE. I would much rather pay for a HP DVD full price then to EVER shop at Wal-Mart... Already pre-ordered mine at Amazon.com. Screw Wal-Mart!

Posted by phoenixknighter Nov 5th 2009

YEAH, I did a report on Harry Potter and Wal-Mart last year and got an A+ on it.. after doing my Proper research..Wal-Mart is one of the WORST monopolizing businesses on EARTH! SCREW Wal-Mart and anyone who LOVES shopping there needs to look in the mirror and Check themselves

Posted by phoenix1946 Nov 5th 2009

Be advised to look closely at the offer. These are NOT the BluRay versions of the movies offered. I was ready to order until I looked a little closer.

Posted by USAhermione Nov 5th 2009

Seeing as I don't need BluRay, I would buy it. BUT - I'd rather wait until the whole set is out to buy it. THANK YOU, REDBOX!

Forget it if you are in California, :( tried to order it but do to state restrictions couldn't. I understand your bitterness towards Wal-Mart hey, so as with every one else we have the freedom to choose where we shop. If I can save money then that's what I am going to do. You talk about WB being a rip off the prices we are charged for DVD's is over the top. Now I can finally get the regular DVD's and bam now there is something newer and better and more costly. Give me my old DVD or VHS and I am happy. Youth today, I remember if you missed a movie in the theater that was it until they put on TV. We were just happy with VHS and DVD, now you all want it bigger and higher tech. Pulttttttttttthhhhhh, what ever.

Posted by writer77 Nov 5th 2009

First off, I agree with all the Wal-Mart hate, but do understand those who simply cannot afford to buy new and thus more expensive DVD's. I'm pretty poor myself, but I will be buying a better version of the film at full price. I don't think the pre-order at Wal-Mart includes the disk with all those nifty special features, and for me, special features make a DVD. I might purchase Terminator: Salvation and Julia and Julia at those prices, but not Harry Potter.

This is awesome The other day we had a debate in class about Wal-Mart. I have to say, it is really convienient, especially if you can't afford to buy things at full price. Our family isn't the richest family in the world, and Wal-Mart is really helpful providing a wide range of products at low costs. I do realise that Wal-Mart is an enormous monopolizing tyrant in the business world. Nevertheless, I direct to the naysayers out there that it is a friend to many people that will probably not stop shopping there. I for one will have shopped there many times and do not plan to stop any time soon. The funny thing is, I don't even like capitalism all too much. I think this is great news, but I think I will splurge on an "Ultimate Ultimate two-disc Blu-Ray Platinum Edition". After all, it's Harry Potter we're talking about here.

Posted by DoubleR Nov 5th 2009

Is this in Canada too? I checked the canadian website but I didn't see anything of it...so it's not, right?

Posted by iwantorlando05 Nov 5th 2009

Oh gosh!! I'm totally going to buy it!! But I'm a little torn because I kind of have a ritual of going to buy the dvd when it comes out....

Posted by iwantorlando05 Nov 5th 2009

I just noticed that Walmart only has the one-disc edition for 10 dollars...so I guess I will be going to buy it after all. I HAVE to have the the TWO-DISC special edition copy.

Posted by krazykobra29 Nov 5th 2009

wow it'll probably be out when i try to buy it now. darn walmart and their cheap prices!

Posted by morsmordre79 Nov 5th 2009

Thought it was a good deal until I saw it was only the one-disc. If it were any other movie that would be okay, but for HP I always want the special edition. =) That being said, I think I may cave in and by the $10 version of Angels & Demons.

Posted by Gryffindor_Seeker_7 Nov 5th 2009

Well, I have to get the 2 disc version of HBP with all the snazzy features, but Star Trek for ten bucks is a good deal!

Posted by Veggie_Potter Nov 5th 2009

Just watch, "wal-mart: the high cost of low price" and you views will change forever. I used to be like aurordawlish, but never again will I shop at wal-mart. I'd rather be a homeless person on the street than shop there. And of course, because who wouldn't want all of the extra hp features with the bonus disks?

Posted by RonLover19 Nov 5th 2009

Thought this was a 'balla' deal until I heard it's not the special edition. Oh well, but I have to let this deal pass, seeing as I HAVE to have the special edition! Although I have not the slightest problem with Wal-Mart. What's so bad about Wal-Mart, I don't understand. I agree with people above, if it saves you money then who cares where you got it? Not all of us are rich enough to go out and blow money on the most expensive stuff around. Also @Roxy2005, with the whole 'happy with a VHS, I have to agree. Sometimes the older stuff is way better quality! Although, I'll be getting the hp DVD version, dvd's get scratched and they stop and its annoying! So yeah, there's my take on this...

Posted by hmsmith99 Nov 5th 2009

For everyone who doesn't want to preorder from Wal-Mart...Amazon.com is currently running the same deals. I preordered several movies for $10...but I did have to pre-order the special edition of HBP for 20.99...which isn't a horrible price!

Posted by iwantorlando05 Nov 5th 2009

I love all the Walmart hate. I was the same way after I saw a documentary about Walmart in my freshman year of college...but once I realized I was a college student on a budget, I started shopping there again. But I think I'm just going to buy my copy from Target on Dec. 8th...I might pre-order the Blu-ray version though.

Posted by Snapealicious Nov 5th 2009

My take on the WalMart thing is that it sells at low prices, and lets face it, most of us need to make our dollars stretch. Okay, so maybe the wages they pay their employees is low, but hey, get an education and a better job. Don't hate me for saying that, it's true, and you know it. Besides, their immense popularity creates thousands of jobs for people that otherwise might not be able to get one (again, get an education), especially for people who need a flexible schedule, like students and moms. Think about it. BTW, I too must own the TWO disk DVD. Why spend the dough and not get the extra goodies, hmmm???

Posted by USAhermione Nov 6th 2009

You can't really call Walmart a "monopolizing WORLD tyrant" because it doesn't make it anywhere but here.

Posted by Roxy2005 Nov 6th 2009

Snapealicious, thank you well said in this economy if I worked at Wal-mart I would be grateful to have a job. I have not been able to get even a fast food job which just a few years ago was all you had to do was say you wanted a job from them and they would almost hire you that day. Now 1000's of people are in line to just to get those so call "starter" jobs. Thanks for your point of view and insight. At least you understand the whole picture.

Posted by kapuffy26 Nov 6th 2009

I think the offer is for the 1-disc edition of Half-Blood Prince, but I, as big a fan as I am, will not settle for the 1-disc version; I'd rather buy the two-disc version or the blu-ray. This movie is going to look so great on blu-ray, probably better than its predecessors, since the cinematography is so rich and vivid. I'm excited.

Posted by mousouchop Nov 6th 2009

The regular version of the movie is on sale for $10 on Amazon too, for those not willing to buy from Walmart. http://www.am azon.com/Harry-Potter-Hal f-Blood-Prince-Widescreen /dp/B002PMV9FG/ref=sr_1_9 ?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=125752 5406&sr=8-9

Posted by mousouchop Nov 6th 2009

Commenting system broke my link above... Either remove the three added spaces, or just search for Harry Potter on Amazon.com. haha. I haven't pre-ordered yet. I am waiting to see if there is a 3-Disc special edition at Target like they had with the 5th movie.

Posted by Firestorm Nov 6th 2009

Does the Blu-ray edition contain a regular DVD as well? And the special features (deleted scenes and stuff)?

Posted by hmsmith99 Nov 6th 2009

mousouchop: There was a 3-disc edition at Target???? Oh my goodness... Not quite sure how I missed that one!! What was on the third disc??

Posted by Snapealicious Nov 6th 2009

Roxy2005~~ Thanks, I appreciate the appreciation. Hope you are able to find something job-wise soon. I'll be sending good vibes your way. Good Luck!

Posted by ThuyNu101 Nov 6th 2009

I see nothing wrong with Walmart really... It's good sometimes, but I see no reason why anyone should hate it. It's just a store, relax peoples. haha But anyway, I'm kinda happy about the low price because I don't really need the special features, so it's pretty good that walmart is lowering the price. It's a fair deal. :DD

Posted by Firestorm Nov 6th 2009

I meant does the Blu-ray/DVD combo mean that one of the discs is a regular DVD? And does it include the special features, too? I would get the 2-Disc Special Edition since I don't have a blu-ray player but if Amazon is offering the blu-ray combo for only 16.99 then why not if it contains the same stuff as the 2-disc special edition, and who knows i might get a blu-ray player and HD TV later... like 13 years from now... so can anyone tell me? Please?

Posted by PervyKirby Nov 6th 2009

Dear god, how awesome!!! I'm gonna buy the ultimate editions in the future so I don't mind it being the simple version for now. I do want the 2-disk set of Star Trek though if they have it so I may wait on that.

Posted by mousouchop Nov 6th 2009

hmsmith99: There was indeed a 3-Disc edition at Target. Not only was it 3 discs, but it has a holographic cover that switches between the 2 different groups from the face-off poster (Death Eaters and Dumbledore's Army). The third disc had addition interviews/making of footage concentrated on specifically the set design and effects for the movie. The box is still labeled as "Two-Disc Deluxe Edition" but the third disc is inside in it's own little protective sleeve.

I'm saving my $5 off coupon from being a Best Buy rewards customer to buy this. Hope Best Buy has all the choices! And, I too, will be adding Star Trek to my collection as well. It's exactly ONE MONTH until the dvd comes out!!! really excited....i'm memorizing all the lines on OotP seeing that it's been playing all over cinemax and hbo!!!!!

Posted by cbsmitty17 Nov 8th 2009

It doesn't make sense blasting Wal-Mart and saying you'll buy it at Target. Target is just like Wal-Mart only not as successful. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that you can pre-order the 3-discs Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy of HBP for $15.96 at Wal-Mart.com

Posted by Willowrose Nov 9th 2009

That blu-ray price at Amazon was an AWESOME find!!! Evidently, according to the comment above mine, Walmart is beating the price. But I got mine pre-ordered now from Amazon!! So, yay! and I actually put 5 bucks down on just the DVD at Movie-Stop the day the movie came out and allegedly they "beat all prices". I doubt that means pre-order prices, but I'm sure the DVD there won't be anymore than 10 or 15 bucks! (probably more like 12 or something along that line)

Posted by phoenixknighter Nov 9th 2009

Yeah, AMAZON has the BEST prices for BOTH Blu-Ray and DVD 2-Disc.. I just bought the DVD 2-Dist for $20.99 instead of the $29.99 it woudl cost to pay in Target.
