I don't know how I feel about him. I like it but at the same time I don't. But I think I like him more than I don't...guess I will have to wait 363 days!

I pictured him a little like Ollivander but slightly insane. And a little older than this guy, and a little more fragile-looking. And with frizzier hair.

i definetly pictured him very old, with white or salt and pepper hair. this xeno is definetly younger, but looks pretty crazy which is how he should look most of all. as long as he acts the part well, i'm sure it'll be fine. are they going to keep him cross-eyed, though? that would add some humor.

I thought at first it was Lucius Malfoy who was laughing at something. Xeno looked older, at least I thought so. And he had slightly crossed eyes. Oh, well, some of us didn't like who they picked for Horace Slughorn, but it worked out o.k. Maybe this will work out o.k. too.

Omg, omg! haha, a couple hours ago I was looking for HP pictures and I was in a a gallery and saw this picture and I was like, "Who is THAT guy?" haha. He is definitely not how I pictured Xeno, but oh well!

OMG!!! This is crazy!! It's like the first picture from Deathly Hallows!! He looks awesome!! Xeno is supposed to be crazy and Rhys definitely looks that way in this photo!! I LOVE how the Lovegood house looks! It looks run down like it's described in the book, but at the same time there's a lot of color and clutter everywhere. You can tell it probably looked a lot more magical when Luna's mother was alive or before Luna was kidnapped. I can't wait!!!! OMG!!!!!

woah woah woah. Not how i imagined him at all. i pictured someone older, and less... smiley. Why's he smiling anyway? his daughter was taken by snatchers! He's definitely quirky-looking though. I'm sure i'll love him when i see the movie.

This isn't necessarily a scene from the movie. It's just a set photo so the actors are not in character. This could be between scenes because he's looking off camera. In the book, Xeno does smile a lot though because he's trying to pretend nothing is wrong and he's trying to keep the trio distracted.

I will honestly say I didn't picture him to look like that because I always thought they would cast Bob Hopskins to play Xenophilius so that's who I pictured when I first read the book. However, I absolutely LOVE Rhys and I think he's perfect for the role. If anyone has seen Notthing Hill...they will know what I mean.

Why would anyone think he was going to be old. He is the father of a 16 year old (only child) so I always assumed he was late 30s maybe mid 40's

Oh my god... way too sexy for the role, he's like competing with Lucius here or what? I saw him more as a Albert Einstein-ish guy. But I really like how he looks! Wow, less than a year until DH 1; that's scary.

Rhys Ifans is a brilliant actor and is good for the role of Xeno, though i would have liked Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) to have been given the part.

A lot of people say they imagined him older, i think his age is just right. Though he's not exactly as I pictured him, I think he'll do!

@Bookie: I think he's going to look exactly like that in the movie and so will the house, but I don't think this is an actual scene from the film. It's just a set photo just like all the other DH pics, but he looks amazing. In the book, the Lovegood's house is described as being messy and over cluttered and pretty much falling apart because Xeno is depressed about Luna and he's also not the most organized man. I think the decoration fits the book perfectly.

Not exactly how I pictured him (Austin Pendleton always came to mind while reading the part in the book), but the look definitely works for the character. Looks like he's a somewhat aged hippy, which works. Nice to see they've kept the horn in the scene. It'll be interesting to finally see this on the big screen.

Oh please...clearly EVERYONE pictured him differently. That's generally what happens when you use your imagination. Don't judge until you see him in action. Rhys Ifans is brilliant.

I think he looks okay.. :) I pictured him with longer, straighter blonde hair sort of like lucius... but quwirkier and funner. But I think he'll be great. :)

yeah, this is the same thing you guys said about SLUGHORN.. about his beard and his height.. but in the end DIDN'T HE PLAY HIS PART WELL?! So just be patient until the movie comes out

When reading the book, I pictured Scottish actor Billy Connelly as Xeno Lovegood. I'm sure Rhys Ifans will do a good job, he just looks a little younger than I thought his character should be.

How is he not what you imagined people?!? READ THE BOOK. Everything from his hair colour to hair style, AND his clothes, are exactly from the book!

I have to say, I really kinda like this...lol. First off, I'm not used to Yates embracing such a colorful scheme for his movies; his previous films were very dark or washed out. Xenophilius does look like a hippie, but when you see how Evanna Lynch portrays Luna, it makes sense because she, too, looks like a hippie. Yates seems to be rendering a very faithful adaptation, since, of what I can see of the house, all the objects described in the book are there. This scene will be very interesting, a very bitter-sweet scene in a very dark and thematic film. I like it, and it's probably better than I imagined it.

It actually makes a lot of sense that he would have a hippie-esque vibe. Rowling said that Luna was a "naturalist" or the equivelent. But still not what I pictured. I thought a little fatter with glasses. Dunno why. But I'll leave judgement til I see him on the screen.
