No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP
Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

Well, OOTP is like 900 pages. Anything that is not related to the major plot will need to be cut. I mean, most of the book was about them studying. That said, I would be willing to sit through a 4 hour movie, just to see ALL the subplots. The problem is the theaters would only be able to show the movie like three times a day instead of six. I love the Quiditch scenes as well, I was VERY disapointed that the Quidditch was not shown in TGOF during the world cup. I did like the way Newell made a point to have all the secondary characters get lots of screne time.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY CAN NOT DO THAT!!!!! I AM SOO MAD AT THEN NOW!!

Posted by kruzz5 Aug 27th 2006

In anwer to Dan_fan, I doubt too many strictly movie fans go looking for answers. They won't know what they are missing. Those of us passionate about the books, they figure are used to being let down. I just don't understand how they can do this to the story. I also agree about the dropoing actual plot lines to add stuff that was never there to begin with.

Posted by alexisaesthetic Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOO! I want Chris Columbus back. =[

Posted by Mrs_HermioneWeasley Aug 27th 2006

That sucks!!They always take away Ron's best moments! I was looking so forward to hearing "Weasley is our King"! I want to Bat_Bogey Hex the director until he puts that in!!!

Posted by Mirdala Aug 27th 2006

They cut Quidditch because Harry and Hermione will be in the forbidden forest with Hagrid and Grawp during the match. They said you would only hear about the match but not see any Quidditch. I have known about this for a while now, and while I was dissapointed, I see why they did it. However, now that I think about it , I do hate Grawp more than any character in the book (because of his apparent lack of usefullness), and I kinda of wish they would have scrapped him instead of Quidditch. Ah well, we don't always get what we want.

Posted by throwingshadows7 Aug 27th 2006

no fair! i wanted to see Ron on a broomstick!

Posted by dobbyroxmysox Aug 27th 2006

Posted by amychristine Aug 27th 2006

Harry may be famous, but WEASLEY IS OUR KING!!! I suppose we'll just have to live with it. Complaining won't get us very far...

Posted by SlytherinGreen1030 Aug 27th 2006

That's nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the quidditch in this book! The Slytherins singing "Weasley is our king " is one of my favorite parts in OOTP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Unfair!

Posted by alexk311 Aug 27th 2006

that is so stupid thay cut way to much in the movies

Posted by potterfreak4eva Aug 27th 2006

omgomgomg omg !!!!!! i am so upset!!!!! they cant do that!!!!! noooooooooooo!!!!!!! i am gonna cry!!! i am so unbelievably mad right now!!!!

Posted by Cella Aug 27th 2006

OMG! I cant believe it!And in the interviews with Rup, he said about it, that he was anxious to play quiddich in the movie!! So desappointed ;~ I really cant believe they ll do it ;~~~

Posted by icedbluetiger Aug 27th 2006

This is just one more reason i'm going to try not to watch the rest of the movies, (I have a younger sister who will regardless) they contort the storylines so much they just aren't what you hope they'll be like, (i.e the books). I know they have certain time constraints, but come on. The first thing I thought when I read this was "wth? That's RIDICULUS."

Posted by gymgrl Aug 27th 2006

not cool....no quidditch......or weasley is our king????

Posted by NicoleM Aug 27th 2006

uh oh lol I knew this was going to start a war. I honestly don't blame for the people who want it in the movie. It would have been a nice scene just to see Ron holding the cup. Ah well...

Posted by deirdrexgrint Aug 27th 2006

wtf.

Posted by bookishballerina Aug 27th 2006

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. It's such an important part of building Ron's character--it really exemplifies his insecurities and his difficulties in being Harry Potter's sidekick. I know Rupert would do such a good job of it, too.

Posted by konstantine Aug 27th 2006

THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I am extremely disappointed. If they can't leave in major storylines they need to break the book into more than one movie, seriously.

Posted by Weazleby Aug 27th 2006

This is HORRIBLE!!!! I thought that was one of the best parts of the storyline in the books!! What about him falsely taking Felix Felicis??!?!!?? This is insane!!!

Posted by slytherinfangirl Aug 27th 2006

Well, once again, I'm in the minority. I, personally, find that while she keeps finding ways to make Quidditch different and interesting, to me, it all feels like the first game being constantly replayed. We never see Harry watching the other games that the other teams play, and that has always annoyed me as a sports player. If you are a real fan of the game, and you are on a team, you watch the other teams to learn their strategies, I would have loved to see that. So, I'm kinda glad that the games have been cut out of the movies. It means that main plot will be focused on, and according to Wiki, so I'm sure things will change, but the scene Fred and George's antics as they leave the school are in the film. So to me, who cares that there is no Quidditch? I was also glad that there was no SPEW. I cheered that it wasn't there.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by fredandgeorge Aug 27th 2006

all i have to say is that this is bogus!quidditch is a big part of the book so it should be included in the movie.it is just like how they left out S.P.E.W. in the fourth film.they should get someone who knows a lot about the book series to make the movies!

Posted by moonyrocks Aug 27th 2006

well im reading all the spoilers i can b4 the fifth movie comes out. thats what i did for the fourth and i loved it. but if i wasnt prepared for what was missing then i would have been majorly ticked. my advice is to accept this now even tho we all dont want to because that way the movie will be more enjoyable when we watch it. tell all your friends that there is no weasley is our king so they can be prepared

Posted by wingardium_leviosa182 Aug 27th 2006

omigosh. they cannot do that. this is so unfair. because the whole quidditch thing is what gets fred & george upset, & they get banned & then they leave & that's when they start their jokeshop!!!! ARG!@$#' that was my favourtie part. & when they set peeves on umbridge, that's hilarious as well, but i guess they don't have peeves in the othe films either. oh. i'm very disappointed

Posted by Belinda Aug 27th 2006

Wait! If you think logically huge amounts of the story line wont work at all if you take out the Quidditch! I mean it plays a HUGE part in the 5th book! If they take it out entirely from the rest of the movies how are Harry and Ginny ever going to get together? Even the Fred and George leaving scene wont make sense if they take out the Quidditch! I mean they already took Dobby out which should lead to some major problems but now Quidditch! All I can say is I'm very very dissapointed because the movies are beginning to Really ruin the books!

Posted by Volleyballer Aug 27th 2006

What the heck? How can there possibly be any sort of Hermione/Ron storyline then? That storyline was important in getting Ginny in quidditch too, not to mention it provided conversation between Ginny and Harry. And with no quidditch at all, how do Harry and the Twins get booted off of the team?

Posted by HPlover_muffin_15 Aug 27th 2006

*falls to knees while yelling NOOOOOOOO!!!* That's just bloody rediculousness there! That was like one of THE best parts! I was sooo looking forward to that! *cries* Maybe they will have the song. I'm praying to god. That will just be completely stupid to not have quidditch in this movie! I mean, really! I could go on and on, but I'm not. This is my last dy of sumemr vaca and I can't spend too much time crying over this teribly news, so this is all I'm gonna say. Hmph. *crosses arms in front of chest grumpily*.

Posted by Ctgate12 Aug 27th 2006

This was going to be Ron's time to shine! AND THEY TOOK IT OUT!!!!!!! I can't believe they TOOK. IT. OUT! Okay... *takes a deep breath* All I can ask is: Why...???

Posted by miss_vj Aug 27th 2006

WHAT???? NO WEASLEY IS OUR KING??????? THAT JUST DUZ IT???? N WUTS MORE...NO QUIDDITCH?????????????????????????? THATS RIDICULOUS!!!! WISE UP DIRECTOR!!!!

Posted by hpgirl_91 Aug 27th 2006

BUMMER! I remember that in an interview with Rupirt he said that he was really excited about flying. I was really excited to see him fly! They better include the Hermione/Ron kiss even if they have to make up a reason for it! I really like the quidditch scenes, this is a major bummer. WAIT! What about the Fred and George plot- are they going to cut that too! NOOOOOO Gred and Forge are my heroes....

Posted by Number_1_Harry_Potter_Fan Aug 27th 2006

If there's no Quidditch in the film at all then does that mean that we won't see Malfoy get beaten up coz that happens after one of the matches? And i was kinda hoping to see Ron fly coz we havent ever seen him fly before!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by geLo Aug 27th 2006

Is that for real? That part was really nice. It's in league with the D.A., Umbridge, the Prophecy, the Department of Mysteries, Sirius' death, and Peeves bowing down to Fred and George that kinda gives OOTP its identity. If they're going to cut that oart out, they should make sure that the movie turn out "satisfying."

Posted by harryisahunk Aug 27th 2006

this is bogus!!!!

Posted by harrys_witch Aug 27th 2006

!@#$%^&*() this is deeply upseting me... i understand that there's a lot they have to try and squeeze into the movie, but COME ON... that stinks =(

Posted by quidditch_girl93 Aug 27th 2006

WB is just gunna continue to take out my fave parts! I'm totally bummed out now. w/o quidditch fed and goergo don't get kicked out, and I was REALLY looking forward to that part, cuz fred and goerge are 2 of my fave characters!

Posted by moonyrocks Aug 27th 2006

we cant blame the director, its the screenplay writer. but still the movies will have to survive witout peeves, the story of who moony wormtail padfoot and prongs are, spew, and weasley is our king (altough it seems impossible and im so pissed). im sad because i can see that there is no way losers lurgy is gonna appear in the sixth movie, im scared that one of the memories will be cut too.

Posted by DAthrunthru Aug 27th 2006

What??? I cant believe that they are cutting the Quidditch scenes again!! They cant do that Harry is Captain this year! Sux!!

Posted by moonyrocks Aug 27th 2006

but this still stinks. like pink

Posted by Jadore_Bella Aug 27th 2006

*Shock* No. Not. Good.

Posted by moonyrocks Aug 27th 2006

reconsult your books dathrunthru harry is captain in sixth.

Posted by anabanana Aug 27th 2006

Now that is just stupid! Us Harry Potter fans should protest! No Quidditch, seriously!

Posted by la_vie_boheme Aug 27th 2006

thats soooooo stupid!!! im OOTP is, like, my second fav book in the HP series and one of the reasons i like it soooo much is BECAUSE of the 'Weasley Is Our King' thing....its just friken funny. THEY CANT CUT IT OUT!!!! THEY CANT!!! and then the whole 'no Quidditch' thing...that SUCKS!!!! someone needs to write to the director and have him bring it back...lol j/k...well theres my 2 cents....take it for what its worth...

Posted by AveryJ Aug 27th 2006

Ahh well that's hollywood

Posted by Roanne Aug 27th 2006

Geez. I know Quidditch will probably take a big bite out of time, and I understand why they decide to take out the entire 'Weasley is Our King' storyline, but this isn't the first time they've un-canonized and ruined the movies. Harry doesn't have jet black hair and green eyes, Ron doesn't have freckles, Hermione's hair isn't what I'd consider bushy (she's turning into more of an 'Emma' than a 'Hermione'), and all the other bits here and there. Hermione and Pansy turned out to have switched dresses, Harry's robes weren't bottle green. I was also very, very upset with Goblet Of Fire. First they're watching the Quidditch World Cup, then BOOM. They're being attacked and they're all on the verge of death. Seriously. How hard is it to make these tiny changes? If they can do these breathtaking scenes with amazing believable special effects they can at least get the word 'CANON' to run through their minds, can't they? What, did they think we wouldn't notice? All my favorite scenes continue to be cut out, one film after another. I really do think they should hire Alfonso back, I was rather satisfied with Prisoner of Azkaban. Wow. Just wow. Weasley is Our King is pretty much where all the humor of OoTP comes from, and we get to see more of Pansy. Ugh. There clearly isn't of her. I mean, come on, one line in Prisoner of Azkaban? *sigh* Nevertheless, I can't do anything about it but just wish to kick the new director's behind to Platform 9 3/4 and back.

WHAT U CANT NOT HAVE WESELY IS OUR KING THT WAS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS IN THE BOOK

Posted by emalee Aug 27th 2006

Are you kidding me?! Quidditch is a HUGE HUGE HUGE subplot of the 5th book! What the freak is wrong with these people?

Posted by zavi Aug 27th 2006

I figured the movies were on a downward spiral since PoA, and I was pretty set on that theory when the pathetic GoF came on the scene. I pity the people who don't read the books and just watch the movies. They don't know what they're missing. And to think of all the wonderful reviews GoF got, I won't be surprised if the lame-excuse-for-a-movie OoTP will sell very well, while all us book fans will stand with our jaws hanging to the ground, wondering what went wrong. Personally, Harry's one of my least favorite characters, and having the storyline centered on him isn't in my taste. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do that, the series is called Harry Potter, of course. I just like Ron much better, and it would be wonderful if they didn't take all of that out. I'd sit through a 15 hour HP movie, just like the other billion people.

Posted by mugglesrock Aug 27th 2006

I think its for the good. choose one: quidditch and no st.mungo scene or no quidditch with other important details? Ill say the latter. quidditch was added for fun and it isnt anything related to the plot. Although ill miss seeing it, i would rather see the important parts. =]
