No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP
Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

Let's start the petition NOW before it's too late. Those who have connections witn WB maybe u can start.

Posted by Sabe Aug 28th 2006

You all forget one thing. Money. You think the online community compares to the small kids or the average person just wanting to go to the cinema? No. No petition will make any difference. The movie will go ahead even if you get thousands and thousands of votes on your attempts to salvage OotP. WB cares about one thing: Money.

BUT THEY CAN'T! IT...IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!

Posted by mister_mcgonagall Aug 29th 2006

Oh well, I like making up my own tunes to the songs in the book.*starts singing an offkey version of Weasley is our King*

Posted by Maheema Aug 29th 2006

Waaah *bawls* That's one of the genuinely funny parts of OotP! Please let them not cut it just to add one of those pointless 'Is that what my hair looks like from the back' moments, I beg...

Posted by DumbledoresGrl01 Aug 29th 2006

Wait- so there aren't any brooms at all? I can't believe those movie people! ARGH, they make me sooo mad! They mess up the movies! Ron HAS to be bad at Quidditch! It's part of the story! Maybe there's some huge thing that makes Ron die in the 7th book because he was bad at Quidditch in the 5th year? (I don't think there will be but I'm just saying...) Just like they didn't do the money prize in HP4? Harry was supposed to give them the money so that they could escape in HP5 and start there joke shop! Gosh, what kind of a sick world is this?!

Posted by RowRav Aug 29th 2006

Tthis sux... honestly Ron wont be doin anything then...

Posted by GorgeousGinnyxoxoxox Aug 29th 2006

I still can't believe that they're not putting any quidditch in it!!!!!! Who in their right mind who ever think that quidditch wasn't important enough to be in the movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by carrot_top Aug 29th 2006

i dont really care about the movies anymore.they screw them up everytime so i think ill just stick to reading the books.

Posted by silvageko Aug 29th 2006

top 710 yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by kruzz5 Aug 29th 2006

well tinal according to the descriptions we get in the books none of the trio are "goodlooking"!! What does that have to do with the price of eggs? Quidditch is one of Harry's main events, without it we don't have why he gets banned, why he doesn't have his firebolt when trying to decide how to get to london to save sirius, why ginny breaks up with her first boyfriend all of these things ARE THERE FOR A REASON or Jo would not have put them there in the FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!! would you people please READ AND UNDERSTAND THE BOOKS!!

Posted by jens Aug 29th 2006

crap!! that sucks

Posted by bluejeanphoenix Aug 30th 2006

HEAD. DESK. HEAD. DESK. HEAD. DESK. :is dizzy: Seriously. WTF. This is why we need Shyamalan to direct six and seven. Hello, if we enjoyed reading about it, we'd enjoy watching it, kthxbye. (?!!!) I'm intrigued by the notion of a petition, but it's way too late to salvage OOTP. We'd need a petition to hire Shyamalan on for six and seven, to actually SHOW what JKR WROTE. Next thing you know Harry's going to have to rescue Voldemort's hearts, stars, rainbows, horseshoes and blue moons, because "Horcruxes aren't testing well with tweens, and General Mills made us an offer we couldn't refuse."

Posted by gaunt999 Aug 30th 2006

woooooooooooooootttttttttttt????????? How could they take out the quidditch, i mean its a really key part 4 ron. these directors are ruining thw whole hp film its ridiculous!!!! i agree with alexa_riddle y cancel out that bit its like cancelling the premiership or the world cup. screw these mugs. i was looking 4wrd 2 seeing ron flying. its like taking out guns in james bond movies or cars in the fast and the furious come on!!!

Posted by DustysLIberated Aug 30th 2006

that is bullsh** why dont they put it in the movie it belongs in...ya?

Posted by LilMadam Aug 30th 2006

Whats the point in J.K Rowling writing a fantastic book for the film makers to cut out one of the best bits. The story involves Ron so why cut him out of the film?? And getting rid of the Quidditch thats just stupid I am very angry and don't know if I want to see the rest of the movies if they are going to keep on ruining them. I have read all the Harry Potter books so far from cover to cover at least 5 times. They also cut out Peeves who is quite an important character because he reveals information about alot of things Harry needs to know.

Posted by WhereWillYouGo Aug 30th 2006

Now I'm really depressed. Why don't they just do the seven hour movie I mean I don't think anybody would care if it's that long because I wouldn't be bothered.

Posted by GrownUpChick Aug 30th 2006

Wow! Tons of comments on this! I don't have time to read all of them, so let me just say I agree with everyone who is disappointed by this cut. Yes, I know the book is long and some things cannot be included in the film but I think there's a way to at least mention Ron being on the Quidditch team. If I was the director, I'd show a brief scene of everyone coming back from that first match and Ron looking depressed. Harry could say something consoling to him. Later, for the other match in which the Gryffindor team wins, another brief scene could occur where everyone comes in singing the "Weasley Is Our King" song and maybe this time Harry would be in the common room because he missed the match. He could ask what happened and then Ginny could tell him that Ron won the match for them. These two scenes woudn't take long and would cover the storyline fairly well, assuming there is at least brief mention beforehand of Ron trying out for the position and getting the job. Also, since the main idea is to get that cute newer version of the song onscreen, there should at least be a brief scene of Draco and other Slytherins perhaps walking down a corridor after the first match singing the original insulting version of the song. I wouldn't care if the film were four hours long; I'd see it anyway. I don't know why they worry so much about the length of films. Anyone else out there agree with me?

Posted by TheWordsUnspoken Aug 30th 2006

i find it really funny how every other post attracts about 50-120 comments, but this one got 718...i guess people really cared about quidditch in ootp and weasley is our king. i know i did. i mean...who could possibly not love the way the man sings wealey is our king on the audio disks?!??

Posted by purplepygmypuff Aug 30th 2006

GrownUpChick: TOTALLY agree with you!

Posted by Kinz Aug 31st 2006

I HATE THIS CRAP. I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS.

Posted by Kinz Aug 31st 2006

Yeah I agree with grownupchick

Posted by nezray Aug 31st 2006

Very sad. Poor decision. Opportunity for levity in an already dark film. Character growth. Le sigh

Posted by dumbledores_man2 Aug 31st 2006

jkr shouldnta let wb do her movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they never do anything rite!!!!!!!!!! they replace all the good parts with cheap action scenes!!!!!!!!!! boycott the movies!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by GrownUpChick Aug 31st 2006

Nezray, you are so right! "Weasley Is Our King" was a perfect opportunity for a little lightness in a film that will have no choice but to be dark. After all, Harry loses his surrogate father in this one. I am worried about just how the film will end. I for one did not like the ending of "GOF". The part where everyone is getting ready to leave school and Dan gets that little smile on his face was okay. This just showed Harry's feelings about Hogwarts being most like home to him. What I feel was NOT okay was the scene with the trio. There shouldn't have been any chuckling going on. How can Harry, Ron, and Hermione be so lighthearted when Cedric has been murdered and Voldemort's back? I'm sure this was done because of some fool at WB who thinks all of the HP films must end on a light note. If "OOP" doesn't have the same ending as in the book it had at least better be something more somber than the ending of "GOF". It is time to stop lightening Jo's work all because some five-year-olds might be in the audience. They shouldn't be going to the HP movies anymore, anyway!

Posted by Hermione_1102 Aug 31st 2006

I CANNOT believe that QUIDDITCH is being CUT from the 5th movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now now...we book lovers of HP are into the movies bcaz the SO FAR the main plots haven't been tampered with. But Quidditch?...its like half the book. and the excitement of it....and weasley is our king....and.....(breath)....this is crazy.

Posted by Hermione_1102 Aug 31st 2006

And.......also...........don't you like think..........that 2 PARTS to the movie would simply be FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i mean, they would cover majority of the subplots they have to cut out and they would lure more fans toooooooooooooooooooooooo. This is totally unfair. Only the Sorceres Stone and Chamber of Secrets were good bcaz after that too many scenes were cut out...which is............STARTING to hit a critical point.........when they cut out Quidditch!!!!!!!!

Posted by GrownUpChick Aug 31st 2006

Having 2 films instead of just one worked just fine for "Kill Bill". Also, look at the ending for "Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest". It sets you up for the third film perfectly. What is so terrible about having two movies so that all the essential plotlines can be covered?

Posted by Pinkslips Aug 31st 2006

OH shhh.

Posted by potter818 Aug 31st 2006

WHAT NO!!! that cant be possible because then why cast Tiana Benjamin (Angelina Jonhson) if Quidditch does'nt play a big part in OOTF movie...then whats the point? She plays a big part in the book...like reminding harry not to lose his temper around Umbridge...its just so dramatic i dont understand whay they would cut it out..........

Posted by RedXIII Sep 1st 2006

NO! NONONONONONONO!!!!!!!!!! how DARE they!? rawr, they'd BETTER have Quidditch, or the movie'll suck!

Posted by GrownUpChick Sep 1st 2006

I wonder what it would be like if an HP movie was directed by a woman. I think they should seriously consider this. Could be a smart move. Mira Nair was rumored for "Order Of The Phoenix", wasn't she? How crazy would it be if Penelope Spheeris directed "HBP"?:)

Posted by marimekko Sep 1st 2006

that sucks... that really, really sucks...

Posted by BabyWerewolf Sep 1st 2006

WB are poo-heads! (I'm sooooooooo mature, aren't I) I'll go away and sulk now... *wanders off humming "Weasley Is Our King" to random tune*

Posted by HRHFOREVER Sep 1st 2006

I agree with marimekko, this really does suck!

Posted by SnakeyLove101 Sep 2nd 2006

WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU MEAN, NO QUIDDITCH??? FIRST THEY CUT OUT THE HOUSE ELFS IN THE GOBLET AND NOW QUIDDITCH? I CAN UNDERSTAND THE ELFS {sorry 'mione} BUT QUIDDITCH?? ITS THE INTERNATIONAL SPORT!!! THIS HAS TO BE SOME CRUEL JOKE SOMEONES PLAYING! NO QUIDDITCH MY A*S.....

Posted by SnakeyLove101 Sep 2nd 2006

quidditch is one of the main parts of harry potter..... its right up there with harry fighting you-know-who..... next thing you know weasleys wizard weases will be cut out too..... OH HELL NO!!! THEY CANT CUT OUT WEASLYS WIZARD WEASES THOUGH! IM GOING TO THE wb AND DECKING THOSE S.O.B. 'S RIGHT THE BLOODY HELL NOW!

Posted by Hedgwig Sep 2nd 2006

That stinks. That was the ONE thing I was hoping they would leave be. Quidditch is where alot of the plot stems to. And OOTP was so angsty I like that Harry had a tangent with something he still loved. I wonder if they'll nip the Ron/Hermione Prefect thing too??? And I dont think the directors are reading the books. If they did, they would see how much plot change theyre going to be doing to the sixth as well. Will they be able to make Harry captain in the sixth movie so hes "equal" with the prefects? or just do something totally bogus. Now I'm wondering if the final movie will stick to the 7th book's ending at all or they'll just kill off whoever they feel like. Gah, I'm really hating Hollywood! in a nutshell: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >(

Posted by wicked_witch Sep 2nd 2006

OUTRAGE!!!!!!! That can't be true! Quidditch is about a good piece of the book, and taking it out......it's like taking neville longbottom out of the book. IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!

Posted by hysteria Sep 3rd 2006

Thats Horrible!!! i feel bad for rupert he was so excited about ron getting to finally play qudditch and now he dosn't. boo. they need more sub plots in the movies, i mean they dont need as much attention as they get in the books but they have to at least be there!
