No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP
Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

Maybe quidditch is not important enough for the plot but seeing Ron in a broom and playing along with Harry it's pretty important for ALL THE STORY... I thought that would be really cool to see.

Posted by anniehp Aug 26th 2006

TinaL of course Quidditch is important, it does bring something to the story. It's called CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, which is really important in films, especially in ootp. I'm ok with quidditch being left out, but it doesn't mean that it isn't important. And leave the Rupert bashing to e-w.net forums, ok? ;) You seem to have had a lot of pratice over there.

Posted by TinaL Aug 26th 2006

rn362, to me he doesn't look ok but normal in DL but if you go to HPANA they have posted his latest pictures from the screening of DL in England, he looks really bad IMO

Posted by granger1019 Aug 26th 2006

NOO!!! That is, like, one of the major points of the movie! They cant cut that out!!

Posted by Illusions Aug 26th 2006

OOTP was a big book and it's understandable that they had to cut parts out, but I was SO looking forward to that. =(

Posted by rn362 Aug 26th 2006

i still disagree, honey.

Posted by Kat2leen Aug 26th 2006

in the goblet of fire dvd Rupert that plays Ron was really eager to play qudditch. why is the director doing this. i hate the script writers for doing this . your breaking Ruperts heart for not letting him do this

Posted by xoxDreamerGirlxox Aug 26th 2006

You're kidding me! HOW can they not include that?! I don't want to be one of those pesky, articulate detail-oriented type lunatic/fanatics, but "Weasley is our King" gave the story a lighthearted, humorous touch which sort of gave us a short break from the tension between Harry and his growing problem. We NEED the inter-house rivalry, that's what makes these kids actually seem like kids! It gives them character and it just won't be the same without it. And it's definitely not fair that we won't be seeing them play Quidditch, which is an important component in the series. I was sort of looking forward to the "Weasley is our king" routine...

Posted by tonks22 Aug 26th 2006

why must they always screw up the movie?!?!?!?

Posted by quidditch7 Aug 26th 2006

Alexa_Riddle, i totally agree. how could they!

Posted by Elphaba Aug 26th 2006

that sucks.

anniehp I hate e-w.net I never go there, that is nasty place!! and Quidditch doesn't bring CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT to the story, this development can be done without wasting so much screen time watching Ron or Harry flying all over the screen chasing a ball, I really hate it, the R/Hr kiss can be done without without involving Quidditch, the expulsion of the players can be done without them playin Q. This game is just a waste of time, period!

Posted by amandarose Aug 26th 2006

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY REDICK!!!! WHY NO QUIDITCH??? so i'm officially upset!!! i love watching the quiditch matches... does this mean Harry never gets band from playing. thats a HUGE part of the story. this is so dumbbbbbbb.

Posted by harrypotterlover2891 Aug 26th 2006

the directors are so stupid sometime...i mean they leave out so many thangs on every movie...its just not the way it should been done...they should make the movies straight from the book

Posted by StrangeButCool Aug 26th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I was really looking forward to 'weasley is our king'! And that means hermione can't kiss ron on the cheek! Oh no! I know it's not an important part of the book but quiddich was a big thing for ron! And then when will harry and hermione go to see grawp? this is weird. i hope they put it in anyway!

Posted by Flobberworm Aug 26th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what I hate about the movies!!!! LIke in the 2nd movie, there was no deathday party, remember? And the world cup in the 4th was like 10 minutes long, tops??? It drives me crazy AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by thehillsx48 Aug 26th 2006

awww, well thats bad news, innit!? anyway, weasley will always be our king, quidditch or not! =] i hate the F*^&!%$ director and writer dudes!! URGHH! they;re ruining HP, because quidditch will be fun to watch, apart for all the violence scenes! and now theres no quidditcH! how sad!

Posted by zavi Aug 26th 2006

Aw, that just killed what little liking I had for the future movie. Yeah, it's gonna suck big time now. That was one of the things I was most looking forward to.

Posted by harrypotteretard Aug 26th 2006

ok why don't they start putting in the things that are actually IN the books instead of putting in stupid things to impress the people who are too lazy to read the books!!!!!!! they won't know what they're missing, but the people who actually read the books and are REAL fans actually look forward to these kinds of things! I think the writers for the first two movies did the best job because they actually READ the books!! i'm actually starting to think that the writers started skimming the books instead of reading them! in GOF they could have taken out the dragon chase and put in SPEW, or they could have taken out the wind and killer roots in the maze and put in the Sphinx! it's these little things that make me dislike watching the movies!! i actually think that the only reason for these things is to impress the people who haven't read the books. my 6 year old cousin asked me to start reading him the 4th book the other day and he was confused because half the stuff wasn't in the movies, and if u go back on the movies half the stuff doesn't make sense. take the 3rd for example, when harry saw the dog that he thought was the grim in the book it was sirius. but in the movie he sees a dog in the clouds! how is that explained????? i really wish that these writers would get a clue ~lindsay

Posted by rn362 Aug 26th 2006

i am NOT seeing this movie. and TinaL, we KNOW u hate quidditch, so u don't have to keep posting about it and making us SAD! :(

Posted by PsychoticTigre Aug 26th 2006

WHAT! That totally sucks my face off!

Posted by anniehp Aug 26th 2006

TinaL, yeahhhhh right. And about development, no, without quidditch all the story line about Ron in the 5th and in the 6th books are lost, so it's not as simple as you think. You just don't want to see more of Rupert, that's just it. It's quite funny to see your comments about him, to tell you the truth.

Posted by bridget Aug 26th 2006

I don't care. Quidditch was always my least favourite part of the movies anyway.

Posted by Miss_Malfoy Aug 26th 2006

WHAT????? NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! THEY CAN'T DO THAT!!!!! "Weasly is our King" was, like, THE best part of the whole book! I loved it when Hermoine and Harry are coming out of the forest and they hear the chanting, thinking that Ron has lost the game when really the lyrics changed and Ron became the champion! And the whole song made me crack up! Well, I guess it was expected though. So far the Harry Potter movies haven't really followed the books that closely, save for the first and second. I remember being SO MAD when they cut the deathday party out of the second book. Little did I know that that was NOTHING compared to all of the cuts they've been making on the third, fourth, and fifth movies.

Posted by hplvr14 Aug 26th 2006

Aww! No! Please have Quidditch! I was looking forward to seeing Rupert on a broom... *sigh* And the song... grr! *Sits and pouts*

Posted by misswildfire Aug 26th 2006

That totally sucks and is so not fair! I love watching the quidditch matches! They're one of the best parts of the movies -.-

Posted by mHarryPotterm Aug 26th 2006

ewww this is gonna be such a bad movie =[. this makes me so angry that they barely do quidditch b/c it's a big part of Harry's life. they are gonna be stuck in one of the next films not knowing what to do b/c they left important stuff out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well, no one can match the brilliance of jkr, and that's a fact, especially after this news

Posted by Grub Aug 26th 2006

It really doesn't matter. It doesn't advance the plot. You guys do realize that the book is over 900 pages long, right? The film, when condensed down to its essentials in plot and character development, it's probably already sitting at 3 hours long.

Posted by frenchfries Aug 26th 2006

This freakin sucks booty man. How are they gonna do tha seen wit Grawp man this movie better not suck. I cried at the end of the book and I wanna cry at the end of the movie too. NO MORE BAD NEWS PLEASE!!!!!

Posted by rn362 Aug 26th 2006

THEY CONNOT DO THIS! QUIDDITCH WAS THE HEART AND SOUL OF BOOK 5!

Posted by amandarose Aug 26th 2006

sorry if this is a stupid question but umm, what is e-w.net?

Posted by Carly87 Aug 26th 2006

I hate that they have to cut stuff but I can understand why they chose to take out that subplot over certain others. I like to think too that JK has a hand in some of this. If a storyline would be completely essential to book 7 then she'd make sure it wasn't cut. OOTP is massive and there are so many storylines that I think "Weasley is our King" is going to be the least of our worries....

Posted by aleunam Aug 26th 2006

i cant believe it nooooooooooo i need to watch ron in a broomstick this cantt be truth because if it is im gonna kill the directors i swear they cant take that off the movie!!

Posted by nutnjeff Aug 26th 2006

NOOOOOO! That is just so wrong!

Posted by xXxMagicalMandixXx Aug 26th 2006

AH THIS MAKES ME MAD! But we have to sacrifice some things, right? If it's more money they need for more time, I'm sure every fan would give at least 1 of whatever currency they use. This is insane. What HP fan wouldn't watch a 5 hour movie? We've already lost Peeves, but I have faith this movie will turn out. I was really looking forward to the singing too :[ Rupert needs to play quidditch! He needs it! Especially for felix felicis in 6.

Posted by rn362 Aug 26th 2006

rupert, i feel your pain, dude.....

Posted by Jessically Aug 26th 2006

That makes me mad, and sad, smad. No quidditch means no kiss, which is even sadder

Posted by Krum Aug 26th 2006

Ugggghh thats sooo lammmmmmmmeee I loved that song so creative hehe. Why in the movies do they have to puttttt in lame scenes and not put in the stufff from the books its so annoying. Readdddd the booookkks writers!!!!!!!!! This movie better be good or else haha.

Posted by Cammie Aug 26th 2006

Well, that's really disappointing. I guess I can understand why they cut the storyline out, but still...I'm not happy. It's so important to Ron's character and all. Sigh.

Posted by madmaddie1415 Aug 26th 2006

im so mad! this is the type of things that screw harry potter. taking out things like this and changing things from the books. if they would just keep things the way they are, and not leave anything out, i would like the movies. (who cares if it would be like 10 hours long anyway?) i hate them all, they are horriable comparred to the books in everyway. the only good one was the first one and thats not saying much.

Posted by col Aug 26th 2006

I think we should protest.... i would so see a 5 hour movie...

Posted by crazy_beautiful55 Aug 26th 2006

oh my god! they can't do that!! Weasley is our King and Quidditch is like one of the best parts in the movie!!!! How else is Harry, Fred, and Geogre supposed to start getting mad at malfoy and later beating him up and getting kicked off the quidditch team??? Someone tell me how!!! OMG they should have a REAL harry potter fan write the script for the movies. I personally think they would be much better. I agree with the one person that wrote for hate mail. This totally ruined my day...totally ruined my day. I thought these movies were suppoed to represent the books but i have a feeling the OOTP will be exactly like GOF if not worse. The director and writer will cut out the plots in the book they don't feel like doing and add in stupid little scenes that were never in the books. *sigh*

Posted by vanaE Aug 26th 2006

That kinda sucks... Ron has such few storylines. It makes sense that they would leave it out though. The movies focus on Harry and the storyline isn't really all that important to Harry's "journey" as it is set out in the movies. Too bad 'cause it would have been fun... but I'll live without it.

Posted by Jimmer Aug 26th 2006

I won't go see it if it has no quidditch in it....

Posted by Ilovedanielradcliffe Aug 26th 2006

I have nothing to say to this. I am in shear disbelief. Idiots. Will ron still be shown as keeper?

Posted by LizDig5972 Aug 26th 2006

No Rupey on a broom? Aww, that was a bad decision.

Posted by ThePostMan Aug 26th 2006

That's horrible!

Posted by Shibby Aug 26th 2006

What kind of freakshow would eliminate that?? Oh well, not like it'll stop me from seeing the movie.
