No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP
Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

That cant happen!

I agree with jess10 and quidditch_girl93..............The HP story isn't complete without important subplots.................Quidditch, besides everything else it is, is another proof of how twisted Umbridge is..........if there's no Quidditch, there's no Harry, Fred, and George getting banned...........and that leads up to the twins' escape from Hogwarts...........what're they going to do? Not show the scene where the twins leave? Or have them jump on randomly appearing thestrals and fly away that way...........?.............................Everything in the HP saga is connected to something important, and taking out Ron and Quidditch is not just a minor detail..........it's an entire subplot of the story............ But, being optimistic, I'm going to hope that they've just cut out the song, and that they'll get Rupert on a broom before filming ends............

Wait u r sooo totally right! NO ron/hermione kiss....oh ohhh thats NOT good, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -letty ps:top 300?

Posted by Emma_Hermione13 Aug 26th 2006

OMGOMG!!! wb is so going down!!!we have been riped off since ever! how do you get in contact with them??? anybody seeing some add-too issues here??? i dont kno how their getting out of this one!!! ~Me!!!

Posted by Lillibet Aug 26th 2006

AS other people said, it's understandable, but what peeves me is that there will be no R/Hr kiss moment... one of the vert few moments between them in this book... i guess they'll make up some crap to get the romance in, but i want what was in the book! you wouldn't even have to show tjhe game! Annd... It's Ron's only real chance to shine since the chess game in PS, and his line in PoA which they cut. It's also a storyline of his own... heaven knows they've sidelined him enough already! BAH!

Posted by The_Obsesser Aug 26th 2006

*sigh* I express no astonishment. Simply one statement: I should have seen this coming. They cut out the Quidditch in PoA, where it plays a much greater role, in my opinion, than in OotP. Yes, I know it's not possible to fit everything, and I acknowledge that they have to cut stuff. And I accept that. But then, they never seem to do justice to the elements of the plot that they do keep in. So much of the movies are no longer what JK Rowling wrote - they're what Hollywood ordered. And that was the first, and biggest mistake on making any and all of these movies. Hiring a big name studio that doesn't give a darn what happens to the story, the characters, or the ending as long as they make a nice fat profit. It is possible to craft a movie out of a book that appeals to the diehard fans and the masses. It's been done - by Peter Jackson. And though some might groan to have that name brought up again, I can find no one who did it better. He took up LOTR because he was a diehard fan and he loved them. He wanted to make a movie that would tell the story to the public, and give an onscreen version to loyal fans. And that's exactly what he did. It took a lot more effort, time, work, and difficulty getting off the ground, but it happened. And I think he'll be remembered much longer than Chris Colombus, Mike Newell, Alfonso Cuaron, David Yates, and whoever else will be directing these.

OH MY GOSH. No Quidditch?! Impossible! There >has< to be some mistake. In the last four films there was Quidditch. Why the sudden change? Nooo! Okay, so maybe I'm overreacting a little, but that's still a huge shame.

Posted by Emma_Hermione13 Aug 27th 2006

no kiss either? that really stinks, im not that suprised though ~me

Posted by jeering_drip Aug 27th 2006

HOW FRIGGIN IRRITATING!! I'm not sure I want to watch the next movie if thats the case!! jerks

Posted by olives548 Aug 27th 2006

awwww no! i was looking forward to that! but we be expecting that...at least like half of the book is gonna be cut out =(

Posted by AloysiusWeasley Aug 27th 2006

This is ridiculous! They begin by dinging up PoA, and butcher GoF (My fav. book, BTW), and now this? We just HAD a movie with no Quiddich! And don't EVEN try to tell me it's too expensive - didn't GoF have a budget of $140 MILLION dollars?! I hate WB - I swear, if I publish a book and the movie rights are in question, I'm selling to Studio Ghibli - at least they've got a good track record for excellent movies! "Posted by katetate 5 hours ago That is true. I don't know why we're acting as if the movies have always been stellar and we're now surprised when they do stuff like this. They've been pulling this crap for years. This is actually the usual order of business and they know we'll still pay our money to go watch so it's not a big deal to please the fans." Excellent point - I wish I could stop myself from going on opening night each time, but it's like HP OCD or something. I keep going, and am more and more dissappointed each time.... Please, WB: Bring back our Quiddich, bring back Chris Columbus, and give us a properly-cast Dumbledore - Patrick Stewart!

Posted by Micino Aug 27th 2006

I'm seriously Mad and sad. They are taking some of my favorite parts out of these movies. =(

Posted by vampirebabe Aug 27th 2006

I can't say i'm suprised. I am so sick of them butchering the harry potter movies. i really am. they always think the "little details" don't matter--but they do!!!! GRRR

Posted by AARrocksmysox_ Aug 27th 2006

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by HalfBloodPrincesse Aug 27th 2006

NO WAY!!! *Goes off to cry*

Posted by moonyrocks Aug 27th 2006

they have to mention ron on the quidditch team because otherwise thats too much to make up in the sixth movie. it wouldnt make sense if ron was suddenly on the team (and itd be too much to show the tryouts). quidditch also helps reinforce hatred for umbridge when she takes it away from harry. quidditch better not be over for the movies because the sixth is really important with harry as captain and loser's lurgy. if loser's lurgy isnt there ill scream (but i can see it not hapening).

Posted by Pentaclewitch112 Aug 27th 2006

Ok, so first they destroy the 4th movie with the sub-plots. And now they're going to take out the sub-plots of the 5th one!?!?! I dont know if I'll be wanting to go see the movies anymore. I just watched the 4th one the other day and decided to reread it just so I could get the story the right way because I was so angry! If they destroy this one, I dont know what I'm going to do.

Posted by Ilovedanielradcliffe Aug 27th 2006

no one can make a movie from a book better than peter jackson.

Posted by mariatc Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! it´s not fair!!! I agree, they are slowly ruining saga movie by movie!!!!! I really wanted to hear the song.....and rupert in a broomstick!!! and if they are not having quidditch at all...think of this...there wont be the match in which harry and the twins get suspended from quidditch and their brooms get confiscated....so there won´t also also be the scene in which the twins get the confiscated rooms back and leave hogwarts??????!!!!!! this cant be happening

Posted by mina Aug 27th 2006

well. i love ron and i love that whole situation, but honestly, i'de rather see the more important stuff. :) im sure the movie will be great without it.

Posted by GorgeousGinnyxoxoxox Aug 27th 2006

*GASP*...... i didn't realize before till i read other people's comments that without the Quidditch there's no Ron and Hermione kiss!!!!!! OK NOW I'M REALLY MAD!!!!!!!

Posted by LadyArwen06 Aug 27th 2006

This is disappointing like woah

Posted by GorgeousGinnyxoxoxox Aug 27th 2006

i agree with moonyrocks, how are they going to make up for ron and the Quidditch if they don't put it in!!!! Nice point moonyrocks!!!!

Posted by Hermioneisgorgeous Aug 27th 2006

I hate Quidditch anyway! im glad!! LOL jk everyone! i know they are going to make it disappointing in some way, they have done it with all the other movies, so why not this one....*tear*

Posted by viki_hp_nerd Aug 27th 2006

i hate this movie already... i was sooo proud of mike newell and stuff but now, the new screen writer and new director= SUCKS

Posted by Roni Aug 27th 2006

This is just so disappointing... I was really looking forward to that :( And I guess that means we won't see Hermione kissing Ron good luck before the match [ ;( ] and we won't get to see Luna's hat!

Posted by neolight Aug 27th 2006

dont worry guys in few uears they will generate computer generated amination almost real-like.....and then we can enjoy each and every page of the book in movies!!!...so now just gruge.....

Posted by performingmonkey Aug 27th 2006

I can't believe so many of you think this is the end of the world, that the movie will now suck. It's not important to Harry's story or else they WOULD be including it. We may not get the Fred and George leaving moment either, even though it would be a great moment to see, it's not essential to the overall plot. OWLS aren't going to be in either I dare say. Although we know for a fact that McGonagall being attacked IS in. Harry probably just sees it from a window rather than from the Astronomy tower.

Posted by bAsEbAlLcUtIe29 Aug 27th 2006

OMG!! THATS THE MOST INSANE THING I'VE EVER HEARD!! QUITTCH IS ONE OF THE BEST PART OF THE STORY. ALSO, I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO WEASLEY IS OUR KING!!! i guess i'll have to live, but i'm not happy about it!

Posted by soulmeetsbody Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! NO QUIDDITCH????? ARE THEY INSANE???? WHAT ARE THEY THINKING??????? AHHHHH!!!!!!!! -runs around house screaming "BRING BACK THE QUIDDITCH! BRING BACK THE QUIDDITCH!!!!!"- -sighs- i guess the super magical wonderful-ness sport is not important enuf..............

Posted by MaryEmmaGinny Aug 27th 2006

does that mean, that harry doesn´t get quidditch captain???? what will they do in the sixth film??? WON`T HARRY AND GINNY GET TOGETHER THEN????? this so disappointing!!!!

Posted by Sally Aug 27th 2006

i felt that they would cut that, like hermione's spew cause is "harry's journey" so they would cut ron's quidditch

Posted by Tourmaline Aug 27th 2006

I'm so disappointed. I was disappointed when they did not have Sean Biggerstaff back for the Second Movie. I suppose its too late to start another petition?

Posted by JeNaN Aug 27th 2006

that is the worst news to hear.. I CANT BELIEVE THIS.. that is so NOT fair. quidditch is like.. wayy better in this book!!! ROARR i hate HP movies cuz of this.. how can JKR make them take out quidditch!!! She keeps writtin bout it.. IT has to b sumwhat important! roar.. i hate it.. this movie better not suck butt.. cuz the third one was horrible.. and now this! ROAR im mad..

Posted by alan_potter_prieto Aug 27th 2006

thats retarded...

Posted by Abigail Aug 27th 2006

Of course not. That might've given Ron a chance to expand into a more three-dimensional character than he's been written as over most of the movies. >:-(

Posted by Norn Aug 27th 2006

Ahaha your hearts are breaking? I'll bust them wide open for ya!!

Posted by Nely_Longbottom Aug 27th 2006

So... we will have something in a river (even if there is not any of this no sense in the book)... we will have Gawp... but no Quidditch. It would be a good way to show more of Ginny. That WB!!

Posted by foroyar Aug 27th 2006

meh. the quidditch got kinda dull anyhow and its not like quidditch is important in OotP.

Posted by pureblood_slytherin Aug 27th 2006

NO WAY!!! what's a HP movie without quidditch?! and like the others said, its affecting the sub plots - fred and george flying out of hogwarts, getting banned...etc. -takes in deep breath-

Posted by Clamshell Aug 27th 2006

Many of the plots are connected to Quidditch in this book, and it's rather important. Spesifically the KISS with RON and HERMIONE. AND the twins flight from Hogwarts. But noooooooo. We'll just fokus the movie upon how Umbridge eat cookies and helps orphans and doesn't do anything evil and cruel and twisted like in the book. *sigh* Well, perhaps they say that when Umbridge arrives, she has a Educational Decree from the Minister saying Quidditch is too dangerous and is banned for ALL. Or something. I dunno... *groans*

Posted by Cayaisha Aug 27th 2006

*gasps* *dies* *comes back to comment* ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!? WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY DO THAT? I was certainly looking forward to that. How will I LIVE? and NO QUIDDITCH? what's this rubbish? THEY CAN"T DO THAT OR I WILL BOYCOTT!!!!!

Posted by Nutz_207 Aug 27th 2006

This is the worst thing that could ever happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Gem Aug 27th 2006

No Quidditch at all in the 5th film?! But why? There has always been one in every film, except for th 4th of course. But this is unacceptable.

Posted by evenstar123 Aug 27th 2006

This absolutely sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by PotterChick958 Aug 27th 2006

This. Is. SO. NOT COOL. I don't think I'm going to like this movie. I wanted to see Ginny play Quidditch! And Weasley is our King just rocks. wtfffffffffffffff. Not HAPPY!

Posted by TheFifthMarauder Aug 27th 2006

So the book's really big, but i really was looking forward to the Quidditch! Besides, Quidditch was one of the things that Umbridge banned Harry from so i really think they shouldn't cut it out. The way this is going, there'll probably be no Quidditch in the next movie either!!!

Posted by TotalLunacy81 Aug 27th 2006

We already know from J.K. that she isn't going to write any quidditch scenes in Book 7 so I can deal with that because Harry has other things to do. And I understand that they have to cut out a few things, but come on. We can't go two movies without quidditch. If quidditch isn't in Order of the Phoenix, does that mean we won't get to see Harry become quidditch captain in Half-Blood Prince? DETAILS, people, DETAILS!!!!!!! We need small details in the movie to explain things in the next one. Where's Chris Columbus or Alfonso Cuaron when you need them? Hey, what's up with having a broomstick chase in the movie? I don't seem to remember one in the Order of the Phoenix book. I'm guessing we won't even see Ron and Hermione getting their prefect badges either. I can keep going, but I'm getting upset just thinking about this possible scene cut of quidditch so I'll go.

Posted by Up_A_Mountain Aug 27th 2006

I don't see what the big deal is. Quidditch is boring and totally unimportant to the story.

Posted by Phoenix Aug 27th 2006

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? x.x -runs in circles- NOO!! Part of the plotline revolves around quidditch!! AHHH x.x

Don't be silly, Dawlish. I'm sure you are an excellent Auror, I seem to remember you achieved 'Outstanding' in all your N.E.W.T.s, but if you attempt to — er — 'bring me in' by force, I will have to hurt you.
