No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP
Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

Well, i'm not a fan of the movies at ALL, but i am dissapointed. they seem to be cutting out all the finer details and plots which make the harry potter books so special. I cant say i'm surprised though, i mean they cut out the marauders storyline from PoA..thats criminal!!

Posted by vintagexlove Aug 27th 2006

OMG!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! That's terrible! I'm looking forward to it!

Posted by potter_mad Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! they cant do that, how are they gonna get gwarp into the plot! we know they have filmed them scenes! there must be some in hbp though how is harry gonna get with ginny?! then there's still fred and george if they arnt doing any 'broomstick filming' then how are they gonna leave in a way that will go down in history, walk out the door?!?! what on earth are they thinking!

Posted by Rommel Aug 27th 2006

WHAT!!!!I was looking forward to that part.its really DISSAPOINTING!!!!!!! There can't be a Harry Potter without Quidditch.

Posted by iceboots Aug 27th 2006

But Weasley is my King :(

Posted by King_Krull Aug 27th 2006

Noooooo I was so hoping to see George (Oliver or James) and Harry (Dan) beat up Malfoy (Tom)!

Posted by Alexandra Aug 27th 2006

I can understand why they need to cut things from the movie, but it still sucks that they might cut that particular subplot, I love Quidditch. :(

Posted by plzjoinvoldemort Aug 27th 2006

WHAT THEY CANT DO THAT! i've been looking forward to that so much!! i'd love to see rupert on a broomstick :( i loved the whole weasley is our king in the fifth books. WHO IN HIS RIGHT MIND DECIDES TO SCRAP THAT cries

Posted by blastedgoose Aug 27th 2006

awww! im so sad now! you know, i actually feel sadder for rupert than for myself or the fans that the storyline has been cut out. if i were him, id be so disappointed because, well...ron is forever being downplayed in the movies, and now he is being downplayed even more! oh well. even though im kind of in shock right now, i should have seen it coming, and anyway that wont stop me from watching the movie (and loving it, probably, just as i ended up loving the others in the end). tis a mark of a true potter fan:)

Posted by HPFANTimothy Aug 27th 2006

To be honest I was really expecting this. I mean, c'mon! They left out the Qudditch Cup in the last 3 movies! And I agree with the people who say that Harry Potter isn't Harry Potter without Qudditch... Bloody Warner Brothers. I bet you they couldn't be bothered because it would cost more time to 'animate' everything! It really sucks. And this comment is just stupid: Posted by EiSeL 11 hours ago. Wait that means no ron/hermione kiss! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Back to me: EiSeL? You REALLY need to read the books more often. Ron and Hermione have never ever laid lips on each other! LOL! And for that matter, I hope they never do, I'm a Harry/Hermione shipper. Again, NOOOO!!!! It's unfair!!! UNFAIR!!! The movies are stuffed now! I mean, in Goblet of Fire, they never even mentioned Winky! And honestly, who can remember Barty Crouch Jr. being in the Riddle House?????? They stuffed the movies up and by the looks of it, are CONTINUNG to stuff the movies up. The only 'correct' and 'they-put-everything-in-the-movie-that-was-in-the-book' movie was Philosophers Stone (Sorry Americans but we in Australia don't say Sorcerer). It's unfair! I know this is a dumb thing to say and in books like Half-Blood Prince, it'd take years to make. But really, the script and the ONLY script should be the book! Because JK Rowling made that great sport... and now we're not going to see it in the 5th film. Damn you Warner Brothers! Damn you all to hell! And 'Weasley is our king' is my FAVORITE Harry Potter chant! I HATE YOU (But I'm happy that you might be giving us Australia OotP before the US and UK :) But no Weasley is our King and no Quidditch make Timmy go Crazy! ):< © The Shining

NOOOOOOOO !!!! omg WHY !!!!??? stupid director and writer ..... aaarrrgghhhh !!!! they have no idea how much they have ruined. There are NO Harry Potter movies without Quidditch! ;@

Posted by scurvy_cur Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! i KNEW this would happen! GRR, GRR, GRRRR!

Peoples! Please copy down this comment then post it, put your name into the blank: No Weasley is Our King and no Qudditch make .... go Crazy!

oh well...the movies suck major balls anyways....the first two movies were actually good...and true to the books....but the third and fourth movies were freakin pieces of trash...for example...in prisoner of azkaban...the harry crying scene was pure bs....there is a video on youtube thats making fun of that scene...its pretty funny actually...anyways...the script is getting cheesier as the movies go along....so harry potter fans... i advise you not to get your hopes too high!!! i mean its as if the director doesnt even watch the scene before finalising it...JEEEEEZ!!!!! these movies are a disgrace to the harry potter fandom...i know several ppl who refused to read the books after watching the movies, even after me urging them that the movies are absolutely nothing lke the books!!!! maybe the scenery and effects are satisfactory...but the harry potter atmospere is definitely not present in the movies. so with this "weasley is our king" scene...or without...this movies is gonn abe just another disappointment...unless this new director knows the true emotions of this books and is able to portray it accurately on the screen . its not about including every single scene in the whole book...its about putting together the main scenes in a logical....sequential order...that makes sense to hp fans and to ppl who dont read the books!!! ...and abt the script....for all we care...they can lift the words directly from the books...instead of making up corny lines....anyway...enough of my ranting....good day to u all!!!!

Posted by evil_mushroom Aug 27th 2006

I can totally understand that and I really hope this means they'll be taking better care of the other plots. I mean, you can't always find different ways to shoot a Quidditch match, and while the Ron part was important in the books as character development and all that, you can't expect them to keep everything. They can't, with a book as huge as that. I just hope they don't cut anything more significant and that they keep what makes HP what it is (that meaning, not try to turn it in some dark story without any feeling of magic). And that they don't add silly scenes instead of those cut *rolls eyes*.

Posted by quidditchstar419 Aug 27th 2006

totally agree with u evil_mushroom "I just hope they don't cut anything more significant and that they keep what makes HP what it is (that meaning, not try to turn it in some dark story without any feeling of magic). And that they don't add silly scenes instead of those cut *rolls eyes*." exactly...man!!!!

Posted by beckie Aug 27th 2006

omgggggg they needddd to include the weasley is our king thing...its sooo funny and this film is quite a sad one so the need...i mean they actually needddddd to include ittttt!!!! z

Posted by potterrulz Aug 27th 2006

no quiddtich?????????????????????????????? dats not possible

Posted by TheFifthMarauder Aug 27th 2006

They are totally underplaying Ron's character! Wth!?!?!? Ron hardly does anything in the movies now. He just is around, but nothing comes from him. What BS is that?!?

Posted by arl0617 Aug 27th 2006

WHAT i mean no that is so F*** I mean I Am so mad that is one of my favorite parts of the book i mean this has to be a mistake. what if they cut out the fred and george scene next i think i wont even go see the movie i mean come on how is it a harry potter movie without any broom action or Quidditchat all. i knew this was gonna be a problem with YATES. yeah i said it i am a not a happy camper here! "folding my arms and pouting my lips" NOT HAPPY!

Posted by browncoat Aug 27th 2006

Aww, my hopes are rather crushed now - but I understand, you just can't have everything.

Posted by RupertsPheonix Aug 27th 2006

Okay, so this is really upsetting, mainly because the Quidditch scenes are so good! I realize that they have to cut some stuff, but couldn't they have tried to leave a little bit of Quidditch?!? --RP

Posted by Kadaj Aug 27th 2006

That's is why WB is trying to release the movie around the same time all over the world so people dont have time to hear how bad the movie is. Just like what Sony did with The Da Vinci Code. I told you! The movie is going to suck!..Kenneth Branagh probably won't appear in the movie which is another reason why NOT to see OotP. Torrent it everyone! Don't allow your hard earned cash go into WB's filthy pockets. They'll just keep making more trashy movies!

Posted by TheFifthMarauder Aug 27th 2006

What next!?!? Cutting out Fred and George flying away on brooms!?!?!

Posted by zachattack Aug 27th 2006

NO QUIDDITCH!!! You have got to be kiddin me!!

Posted by HPtears101 Aug 27th 2006

ARE THEY INSANE?!? I'M SO MAD! I LOOOVED THAT PART!! that's NOT ok. i mean serioiusly, i think that harry potter fans wouldn't mind if the movie's like 4 hours long! just as long as they include everything!!! UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Posted by Araminta Aug 27th 2006

Honestly people, things have to be cut when you're adapting such a long book, and we should be glad it's this, rather than something more important like the Harry-Nagini scene.

Posted by HPtears101 Aug 27th 2006

but does that mean that harry, fred and george aren't gonna get kicked off the quidditch team? cuz that HAS to happen!! that's where you started REALLY HATING UMBRIDGE! come on! i thought this movie was gonna be the best one!

Posted by ginny_weasley Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! they cant do this. i wanted to see rupert on broom. and if theres not going to be qudditch half the fun is gone!!! i want to hear weasley is our king!!!!

Posted by Chrisell Aug 27th 2006

I'm disappointed but not overly suprised. The movies have been going downhill since the first. Only the acting of the children and the increased darkness and style of the movies have improved.

Posted by hedkandi1984_21 Aug 27th 2006

Well, it is a little disappointing, but lets face it, its not really relevant to the main storyline. If they put in EVERYTHING that happens in the 5th book, we would have a 6 hour long film, and thats AFTER editing!

Posted by indeed Aug 27th 2006

That sucks big time! I hate the films- they mess up everything that is good in the books.

Posted by Aisling Aug 27th 2006

NO Way...That sucks...This is Blasphomy...No Quidditch...Nooooooo...This film is gonna suck...*Prays it doesn't* Weasley will always be my King....

Posted by potter_mad Aug 27th 2006

Is this WB fault or is it the writer and director? who knows its just insulting!! no quidditch!! its kinda a (semi) big part of the plot! i mean come on harry, fred and george cant get a quidditch ban for fighting with malfoy if they did it in the main enterance, i mean what has that got to do with quiditch, and then thers grawp! they had better come up with something good!

Posted by Wassan Aug 27th 2006

Well, I guess they have experts working on this, deciding what to add & what not to so, I'm sure they know what they're doing. I'm guessing, if they add it then, great!!!!! if not, this won't effect the story because, they'll obviously find another way of mentioning that Ron is in the team except, without really showing it. I'm kinda ticked off, I wanted to see Rupert on a broom but, I think they're trying to make the movie look more mature and, focus on things like, the kiss or, the emotions of the trio or, the big fight scene & so on but, lets not forget all the other scenes we can look forward to. I'm specifically looking forward to the scene in which harry starts freaking out in the middle of the examination room. LOL, I remember wishing I could do that when I was sitting for my IGCSEs this june.

Posted by blackbelt1194 Aug 27th 2006

awwww man...i was looking forward to that!

Posted by NickWeasley Aug 27th 2006

I will admit that I have been disappointed in hearing this but something had to go. Like for instance in GoF the Dursley and Hermione and SPEW had to go. You can't have OotP without the Dursley's or SPEW as they are major factors of the story. The 'Weasley is our King' story was a mere suplot of the book. Since there is no qudditch I do hope however that they have Fred and George's escape from Hogwarts still there I will be seriously disappointed if they don't.

Posted by BabyWerewolf Aug 27th 2006

wtf? How can they DO that???? I mean, obviously they have to cut bits, but that's a GOOD bit! I was looking forward to that... I'm going to sulk. Goodbye.

Posted by firenze026 Aug 27th 2006

this is so completely not fair! aaaarrghhhh!!!!!

Posted by Belsito Aug 27th 2006

Well, it does nothing to move the plot along - so I am not sad to see it cut off - I never really enjoyed it in any case - it was too humiliating for Ron and just prolonged the story unnecessarily.

Posted by ah14ofia Aug 27th 2006

that is RIDICULUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they can NOT DO THAT!! there MUST be quidditch- it's part of the big storyline!!!! no one will be able to feel the emotion of umbridge's "punishment" to full capacity if they take out quidditch. ..... UGH!!!! *sigh* calming down..... GRRRR >:(

Posted by Wierdgirl5834 Aug 27th 2006

WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING? You have to have quidditch! How the hell are they gonna do it without quidditch!....stupid director....cough

Posted by ah14ofia Aug 27th 2006

Posted by Belsito 6 minutes ago "Well, it does nothing to move the plot along - so I am not sad to see it cut off - I never really enjoyed it in any case - it was too humiliating for Ron and just prolonged the story unnecessarily." are you mad? let's look at that shall we? Quidditch/brooms in OoTP: - Umbridge bans fred, george and harry from quidditch, raising the level of tension in the story/ between the kids and umbridge - Fred and George fly away from the school on their taken-away brooms - Ron gets some well-deserved fame when he helps win the match while harry and hermione are with hagrid and grawp- attention he's been longing for for 5 years now. - and finally, how are they going to explain why ron ISN't there while hermione and harry go see grawp? this just completely frustrates me...(the news not ur comment) you have every right to your opinion- i just needed to point out for every one else how EXTREMELY IMPORTANT quidditch IS in the book:)

Posted by runes_9283 Aug 27th 2006

NO!! that was one of the biggest thing in the book!!! Ctgate12 is right! There is no harry potter without Quidditch!! that stinks!!

Posted by HPBrad16 Aug 27th 2006

That's one of the main reasons Harry hates Umbridge, no quiditch, and if quiditch isnt talked about then she cant take it away from him. Just another reason I dont like the movies...yet I see them everyday on opening day.

Posted by dumbledoresnotdead Aug 27th 2006

WHAT THE FLIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my absoulute favorite book and there gonna tear it to peices. If theres cutting all quidditch what else are they gonna cut. I can see it now....its tooo much money sooo this year harry ron and hermione wont go to hogwarts they will film in someones backyard....

Posted by ecniv08 Aug 27th 2006

i was looking forward to that and mind the producers, Rupert mentioned in the interview in the GOF DVD that he was also looking forward to do some flying in the fifth movie... too bad... that part should've been good and interesting to the viewers but now, it's just history....

Posted by Quidditchrules00 Aug 27th 2006

WTH? This means no Ron Hermione kiss! -shakes with fury- (R+H shipper. D:)Weasley is our King was one of the things I was looking forword to! -eats WB- Although, I suppose they have to make room for other things. The better not cut out the DA!

Posted by kitty_travers Aug 27th 2006

I was looking forward to seeing the difference in having a new screenwriter. Now I say come back Steve Kloves, all is forgiven! It makes you wonder how they can avoid Quiddich in the sixth. It's so integral to the romance of the book. Each film gets further away from the books, I sometimes wonder if film seven will even have the right characters in it.
