No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP
Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

WHHHATTT!!!???? I agree with HPBrad16, Quidditch is half the reason Harry hates Umbridge so why are they cutting it? Oh I'm MAD now. Okay I understand that it's a freaking huge book and they have to cut some of the subplots - and it's fine with me if they cut the whole Weasley is our King scene and just have the Quidditch - but come on, 5 minutes of a Quidditch match, 2 minutes of fighting, and a minute of Umbridge banning Harry, Fred, and George. It adds like 8 minutes to the movie. It's not like it adds 5 hours or something...urrrrrgh. I understand that some things need to be cut but COME ON! But I'll see it at midnight anyway...and probably end up liking it =]

"I was looking forward to seeing the difference in having a new screenwriter. Now I say come back Steve Kloves, all is forgiven! It makes you wonder how they can avoid Quiddich in the sixth. It's so integral to the romance of the book. Each film gets further away from the books, I sometimes wonder if film seven will even have the right characters in it." It better. :K

No Quidditch! *dies* Aargh! Not fair....we didn't have any in GOF either! How can we have OoTP without 'Weasely is Our King?' Now we'll never have a tune to hum!

Posted by fi_the_fairynymph Aug 27th 2006

I know it's been said, but this is the one word which came to mind when i read that.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Weasley Is Our King is just so funny!!! *goes away and cries*

Posted by marsisbrighttonight Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! they cant do that! they just cant!!!!!! noooo....

Posted by Quidditchrules00 Aug 27th 2006

My first word when I read it was *angry*

Posted by diasphora Aug 27th 2006

I'm not too worried about it. It was an awesome part of the book, but as we all know, this book is the longest of the lot and has a lot of material that will have to be cut. The Quidditch sub-plot would just slice its way awkwardly into the movie. The movie, after all is said and done, is about a group of young wizards and witches trying to fight the regime of an evil wizard while keeping their sanity through their persecution by a horrible new Headmistress. To express the gist of the book on film, there's a certain set of scenes that must be included, to the exclusion of some really fun but superfluous (as far as that fundamental story goes) scenes. I'll just be greateful for any extra stuff they manage to include in three hours, and I won't worry about what got left out.

Posted by yoroshiku Aug 27th 2006

NO WAY!!! I was hoping to see that part! So how will be the twins and potter expelled from the team??? That's stupid!!! Damn you director!!!

Posted by princess_horcrux Aug 27th 2006

They gotta have that! They wouldn't have to have him playing quidditch, they could just talk bout it, bit like everyone hating harry for getting into the triwizard tournament, with the badges and comments and all. Oh well, hope they don't cut out too much more, i know it has to be kept quite short, but i'd see it if it was three and a 1/2 hours long! I don't care, the more the better! lol :-)

Posted by Grey Aug 27th 2006

That can't be true. Rupert talked about how he was really looking forward to being on a broomstick. No, I refuse to believe it. If I have to believe it then I will be very angry at the 5th film, and I would rather not be angry this eraly on.

Posted by Quidditchrules00 Aug 27th 2006

I really wouldn't care how long the movie was. Why can't they just do like LOTR did? Put 1 half on 1 disc and another half on the second disc!

Posted by Munchkin Aug 27th 2006

Well, I knew they would ruin the book somehow, and it had to be with that. I mean come on, quidditch is a big part in the book, they get banned, brooms taken away, but they still win. The all too famous Kiss on the cheek!!! I about give up on the movies. Espically after GoF. Grrrrrr, Hollywood blows.

Posted by Gavroche92 Aug 27th 2006

Noooooooo wayyyyyy! That is awful. You know how Ron Weasley is forever feeling overshadowed by Harry and his fame, well... can they do ANYTHING else to make him count for less? Oh well, I was never a movie fan anyway. I rather disagreed with some of the casting... still stand firm that Richard Harris was the best Dumbledore ever (God rest his soul), Hagrid they cast to the tee, Maggie Smith was awesome, Alan Rickman was whoaaaa in a good way, and Rupert was very true to the role. The rest of the characters... I would re cast. I would re-direct each movie completely different, I disagreed with so any things... like, Where on EARTH were their school robes in the third film!? and the time turner was supposed to look like an hourglass. I would have directed the movies so that they were as long as the books... But that is but my fantasy, and obviously could not be possible because... grrrr. I think Chris Columbus was the best director so far, and even then...

Posted by xilovegeorgex Aug 27th 2006

i think they should get real harry potter fans to write the script - the film may be 10 hours long but at least it would include everyones favourite part!

Posted by Nayias Aug 27th 2006

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THAT IS PURE RUBBISH!!!!!!!!

Posted by rn362 Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I WANT RON ON A BROOM!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! YOUR'E MAKING ME MAD!!! *turns 10 ft tall and green, and smashes the iMac*

Posted by MaraudersAngel87 Aug 27th 2006

OMG!!!!!!!!!! that means Hermione wont kiss him on the cheek for good luck!!!! OMG!!! that is like the best R/Hr argument!!!!! thats ALWAYS my example when im arguing with my H/Hr friend!!!!!! ugh!!!!!! SOOOO UNCOOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Rice12345 Aug 27th 2006

omg. ok, the movie is ruined. NO WEASLEY IS OUR KING = SO NOT OOTP.

Posted by emmad69 Aug 27th 2006

ArmlessPenguin: probably fake some other way, or cut it really really short, like not show the quidditch just cut to the chase. MinervaMoon: some people are canon when it comes to the books being transformed,, me being one of them. why go to all the bother of scripting one of the best books possible and cut out what could have been a very good scene and only cost an extra 20 seconds in film on the end. besides, i know for myself anyway, this is my FAVOURITE of all of the books and im quite peeved that its being butchered into about 120 minutes even IF that. personally i reckon that this film should have been 2 movies, because its the longest. i know alot of it is background stuff but i mean its details that make the book brilliant so why not the film too? personally i hated gof because it was so butchered.

Posted by arry6 Aug 27th 2006

This so un fair no qiudditch no ron no Weasley is are king! BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Posted by Bridster Aug 27th 2006

to be quite honest, I don't know why people are surprised.... I mean, if they cut the whole James was animagus storyline from the 3rd one, can you honestly expect them to keep the (although funny and good, not essentiel to the plot) quidditch thing? Also, in the third one, they win the whole thing in quidditch, but that isn't mentioned either.

Posted by rn362 Aug 27th 2006

*sobs uncontrollably*

Posted by Lindzipie Aug 27th 2006

I love the whole quidditch thing! It's not fair :( But I'll get over it.

Posted by emmad69 Aug 27th 2006

its actually really really unfair, i mean ok the dude is a good director, but so what, i mean i know he has to butcher the script but what about what the FANS would like to see, i got mad that poa had minute details changed and gof - well like i said dont get me started, hated it from start to finish and im sorry but i mean COME ON!!, whos flamin idea was it to put the culprit at the start incase anyone hadnt read the books???? there are some minor things that set the movie or make it funny and this book is so dark that it needs humour, and it was rons turn to shine.. SHEESH *stops before she shouts anymore* but i mean COME ON WB! leave something... next thing you know, the fred and george leaving will be two seconds and just them flying off in the distance and doing something completely different to what the book describes...

Posted by Tintinnabulation Aug 27th 2006

WHAT?! That's one of my favorite parts of the book! I will.....protest if they don't include the Weasley Is Our King storyline!! I now have bad vibes about this movie. Ugh.

Posted by rn362 Aug 27th 2006

i'm sad now. as i said before rupert would look amazingly hot and gorgeous and athletic, and wonderfully cute and british.... woops! sorry! got a little carried away...........

Posted by missinconspicuous Aug 27th 2006

Rupert was really looking forward to doing the Quidditch, too. I feel so bad for him. I really think the people who do the movies hate Ron, I really do, they treat him so badly. Anyone would think they're pureblood Slytherins. :(

Posted by Tdish14 Aug 27th 2006

NO!!! I really liked Weasley is Our King!!! :(

Posted by Baphomet Aug 27th 2006

If they cut out Quidditch in order to make room for character development, I'm all for it.

Posted by Books_4_eva Aug 27th 2006

Looks like Rons been demoted to corny sidekick status once again.... oh well maybe he wont be purely comic relief in this movie. Hay maybe he will be pretty good in the ministry... *suddenly remembers accio brains* then again.

Posted by Pidge Aug 27th 2006

this makes me really sad :( especially after there were no house elves in movie 4... are they trying to cause an uproar??? i dont understand why they have to take such things out of the movies at all. even if they say they have to shorten the movies, why don't they just let them run as long as they can? im sure just as many people would see the movie if it was 4 hours instead of 2.5... I know i would!!!

Posted by missinconspicuous Aug 27th 2006

I hope Evanna Lynch is giving them what for down there. :( At least there is one true HP fan on the set. Shame it isn't the writers or directors.

Posted by fen Aug 27th 2006

Honestly, they can through stuff into the movies that wasn't there, but they can't include something that IS in the books? Yeah, so it isn't that important, you have to have something that balances out the darkness of the book!

Posted by idunnoyou Aug 27th 2006

THAT IS THE DUMBIST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD. HARRY POTTER WITHOUT QUIDDITCH IS JUST NOT HARRY POTTER AT ALL THEN.

Posted by rn362 Aug 27th 2006

fen: it's "throw" not "through"

Posted by c_pal_13 Aug 27th 2006

How can they take such a huge part out of the book, completely ridiculous. Very uppset about this news here!

Posted by ba_ba_ba_ba_baloney Aug 27th 2006

I suddenly got reeeeeaaally depressed. That's NOT fair!!!!!

Posted by loonz Aug 27th 2006

oh yeah its not too surprising since they were waning on showing quidditch in the movies more and more. its a surplus to the main storyline

Posted by Kadaj Aug 27th 2006

Boycot the movie people! Just torrent it!

Posted by emmad69 Aug 27th 2006

aye but just think, last year in gof quidditch was really entertaining (well i think so anyway) and its a shame that they couldnt at least show a clip of them winning or trying to anyway - even practising and then showing the result (after they have won and are celebrating) but meh... im just gonna get really mad and then go to work and be fired up :)

Posted by troll Aug 27th 2006

IT SUX!!!! I havent heard what they may or maynot edit for the film, but geez. come on WB. Pull your head in!!!!! :p

Posted by KingdomHearts_2 Aug 27th 2006

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Posted by nevillesfan Aug 27th 2006

Ok, I can deal with that, but there better be a GOOD scene with Fred and George leaving Hogwarts. That had to be the funniest scene in the book.

Posted by Kaammini Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I love that bit!

Posted by totalvirgo Aug 27th 2006

This was an important part of the story! Arg, they better have the final scenes perfect or this film is not going to be that great. By taking out stuff like this, it hurts the story line for the next film.

Posted by nevillesfan Aug 27th 2006

Can't we have Chris Columbus back as director? PLEASE!! I also want John Williams to come back and write the score for the next movies. He wrote the Harry Potter theme music, DUH!!

Posted by patty892 Aug 27th 2006

we shouldnt be as surprised anymore, that they arent including something major. They do this with every film. They will probably make harry get a detention in another way like talking back to umbridge. as for the ron and hermione kiss, i have no idea how they are going to include that in there.

Posted by ilovemydannybear Aug 27th 2006

NO!!! THEY CAN'T DO THAT! I WAS REALLY LOOKING FOREWARD TO THAT. NO QUIDDITCH?! WHAT IS HARRY POTTER WITHOUT A ROUSING GAME OF QUIDDITCH?!?!?!?!?! UGH!!! AS LONG AS Dubledore's Army ISN'T CUT... I WILL BE FINE!

Posted by GoGoGryffindor Aug 27th 2006

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! OMG! THATS SO FREAKIN STUPID!!! They can't do that! They need to let Rupert have the spotlight for a change... and i loved Weasley is our King! Ughh!!

Posted by slappy Aug 27th 2006

I come here everyday and read the updates and info. I never post .This is so absurd I cant help my self. How can they leave that out? Its just silly. Very similar to almost not having Gary Oldman back!!!!!!!
