No Weasley is our King storyline in OOTP
Bad news for those who are looking forward to a good grudge match in the Order of the Phoenix film next summer! We've been informed that there is no storyline in the movie surrounding Ron's Quidditch hardships, nor has there been any filming on broomsticks done by Rupert. We're led to believe that this means there will be no Quidditch in the fifth film at all. We hope to learn more soon!

I have stated this once and I will state it again, Quidditch has a very important aspect in the book that would have come over very well in the film when showing just how nasty Umbridge really is. I know that was the part in the book when I truly disliked her; especially after she gives George a lifelong ban from Quidditch even though he had no part in the well deserved beating of Malfoy. That and the locking up of their broomsticks. I bet that will be cut out too.

Posted by Kristintj Aug 27th 2006

POOBIES!! BUT BUT they can still have the weasley is our king in there even if they don't do an actual quidditch match! It wouldn't take up much space!!!

Posted by rhea Aug 27th 2006

No fair!!!! i wanted to hear the tune to the song!!!

Posted by CedricLover125 Aug 27th 2006

NO!!!!!! They have to put Quidditch in!!!!! I was really looking forward to seeing Ron on a broomstick!!!!

Posted by peeves_lives Aug 27th 2006

WHAT?!?! that was, like, one of my fave parts!!!! *whines* i wanna see rupert on a broomstick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Posted by treetop Aug 27th 2006

And the critics complained and said that Rupert Grint wasn't able to show up his funny sides in GoF. They can't make him funny with only Lavender, I mean she just likes him because he is a Quidditch star! Give us Weasley is our King. I Don't care if this film is 3 hours as well :)

Posted by Becky_Snape Aug 27th 2006

No! I was really looking forward to a good chorus of Weasley is our King.

Posted by sugarquill Aug 27th 2006

wow that is insane NO QUIDDITCH????????????!!!!!!!!!! they've got to be kidding. they seriously can't do that - what is the harry potter movies without quidditch?????

Posted by divani41 Aug 27th 2006

they're completely tearing apart the story line!!! what r they thinking?!?!

Posted by Xander_Black Aug 27th 2006

In the words of the Weasley twins in the Goblet of Fire film, "That's Rubbish!"

Posted by ron_weasley_is_my_hero Aug 27th 2006

harry potter is not harry potter without quidditch how could jk rowling let him do this to her amazing books their better be a new director for the next book or else i am no longer going to see the movies

Posted by TriWizKid Aug 27th 2006

That just aint right.

Posted by Doodle Aug 27th 2006

That's just stupid, "Weasley is are King" is one of the funniest bits in the book and no quidditch! I understood why in the last movie but quidditch is quidditch, THEY ARE INSANELY DELUDED!

Posted by rose_potter Aug 27th 2006

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE HAS TO BE A WEASLEY IS OUR KING! SONG IN THERE!!!!!!!!! NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME!!! I DEMAND THAT THEY PUT IT IN THERE!!!!!

Posted by lepamaniac Aug 27th 2006

Cool, lets all pretend that Quidditch doesn't happen after year three.

Posted by BananaChan Aug 27th 2006

I'm really disappointed that they didn't include the Weasley Is Our King plotline in the story! If there isn't any Quidditch in the movie, how are they going to work around it in the plot? I really hope that OotP is better tha GoF was. More cannon! Less filler!

Posted by notamuggle92 Aug 27th 2006

WHAT!!!! words can't even discribe what im feeling right now! Their probably going to replace this with something idiotic that will "supposedly" make us laugh!

Posted by flipgirl Aug 27th 2006

I was looking forward to hearing the tune. They cut too much out of these movies. No house elves in GoF. No deathday party in CoS. But they just CAN'T cut out Weasley is Our King. I have to find out why they're doing this. And I really wanted to see Tom Felton sing. That's the only time Tom will sing. lol. Unless he sings in the seventh but he might be too old to play. How could they do this to us. I think I'm going to go crazy.

Posted by nlfrederick Aug 27th 2006

ilvdr, I couldn't help but notice your comment of "how will they explain to Ron why Harry and Ginny went into the forest when Ron didn't do anything that would've made him unable to go now that they've omitted the Quidditch plotline?!?! THIS IS MADNESS!!!!" You say that it was Harry and GINNY who went into the forest. It was not, because Ginny was also playing Quidditch. It was Harry and HERMIONE who went into the forest.

Posted by ImJusMee08 Aug 27th 2006

What? You guys can't be serious! I think I am going to cry. Really, I think I will. There has to be Quidditch. What is the significance of Fred's, Harry's, and George's brooms being taken away if the is no Quidditch? Oh, I can feel the tears welling up now.

Posted by unknown_stranger Aug 27th 2006

Aw man, I was looking 4ward to dat......now a part of my excitment is taken away......

Posted by hproxmysocks Aug 27th 2006

That is crazy! Quidditch is such a big part of the fifth book; mostly because Ron joins! Also, that means we won't see Hermione kiss Ron on the cheek before the match. =[

Posted by cool_varzz Aug 27th 2006

WHAT THE HELL!!!!

Posted by redhead Aug 27th 2006

I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SEENING RUPERT ON A BROOM BUT I WILL STILL GO A SEE THE MOVIE.

Posted by elven9 Aug 27th 2006

THIS IS INSANE! no quidditch?! did anyone check to see if this was okay with Jo??? i disapprove of you Yates! ALL IN FAVOR OF A NEW DIRECTOR SAY 'I' !!!!

Posted by nevermoreaddict Aug 27th 2006

Well, that's a relief. I was beginning to think they wouldn't cut anything out. I'm sure as hell not going to the theatre to watch an exact translation of the book onto screen. I mean, what would be the point? I've already READ the book. It's so funny that people are so upset. You know it exists, correct? And you like it? So wouldn't the movie screw it up anyway? Y'all are taking this way too seriously.

Posted by Dan_fan Aug 27th 2006

THEY CAN'T DO THAT!!!!! QUIDDITCH IS A MAIN PART OF OOTP!!!!!!! IT WILL BE LESS EXCITING!!!!!! WE WANT QUIDDITCH!!! WE WANT QUIDDITCH!!!! WE WANT QUIDDITCH!!!!!!

Posted by Harry143 Aug 27th 2006

THAT IS FRIGGEN GAY....

Posted by Dan_fan Aug 27th 2006

How will Fred George and Harry's brooms get locked up if they didn't do anything!!!!

Posted by broadwaylova91 Aug 27th 2006

that's dumb.

Posted by Dan_fan Aug 27th 2006

WB sucks!!!

Posted by gummybearlily Aug 27th 2006

I don't mind at all, they can cut Ron out of the movie for all I care. Ron has never been a charactor that I liked, so I don't care. Though I admit that I would of liked to hear the song, I wather they make room for more important scences like Grawp and Fred and George's escape. NOTE TO ilvdr: HARRY AND HERMIONE WENT INTO THE FOREST NOT HARRY AND GINNY!!!!! The one scence I hope they don't cut is the Hermy part LOL To those who want to fight Warno Brother, you should be glad that there is movie! Don't go yelling at them because they take out one little plot of the book, it is a very long book. I'm sure that they are doing their best. BESIDES Matt Lewis said on pottercast that they did a good job on cutting parts and that the movie is going reall really real and if he thinks so than that enough for me. There is nothing we can to anyways, sure write to them but they are already 3/4 done they aren't going to go and reshoot something they already shot because of a few fans ( Not to mention would you want to wiat longer to see the movie? I think not) What are you going to do? Not go see the moive? Well thats what I think. Lily

Posted by mozart Aug 27th 2006

Hmmm i don't understand, cos if they decide to not include quidditch then it might work for this movie, but in the 6th one, Harry needs to pretend to use the felix felicis and there has to be quidditch for that. Also, if they decide to have quidditch in the 6th movie, people who haven't read the books will be wondering how Ron is randomly on the team.

Posted by Brooke Aug 27th 2006

thats ridiculous! i know that they have to edit some things, but why not just put a little bit in? just enough to satisfy us! aaaand to give something to umbridge to take away from harry!

Posted by myHPobsession Aug 27th 2006

i really think the quidditch bit is important because it will make umbridge even more of a crazy person. she bans fred, george, and harry from quidditch. this also leads to fred and george's famous exit scene! so, if they want to ruin one of the most awaited scenes in the book, I think they ought to rethink how this is all going to work out. I mean, this is the first time Ron does someone on his own! He finally gets some recognition without Harry Potter being along side him. I think it's a big character plot point.

Posted by Arodhpfan0013 Aug 27th 2006

I think they will still include the Fred & George exit scene, even without the Quidditch subplot. It's a long book, something's got to be cut.

Posted by gummybearlily Aug 27th 2006

What I want to know is who informed Mugglenet? I won't believe it intill the LC posts it on their site. We all know for espericece that mugglenet somtimes post stuff with out knowing for sure. They could still have it :D

Posted by theskyeisthelimit Aug 27th 2006

DUDE! THAT'S SO WRONG! I won't stand for this! Poor Ickel Ronnie-kins. :*(

Posted by Shes_Hearing_Voices Aug 27th 2006

This sucks..the last quidditch match ever at hogwarts happens in ootp and they are not showing that in the film! lameeee i wnated to hear Weasley Is Our King and to see Luna in that crazy lion hat.

Posted by HermioneRox1357 Aug 27th 2006

That's absolutley pathetic! and judging by the response this news item has generated i'm not the only one who thinks so!

Posted by merlin38 Aug 27th 2006

How could they do that? I mean they already messed part of my other favorite move (PoA - No Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs/demetors don't take off hoods). It seems like they don't care about the movie making sense! Well, I'll watch it anyways though.

Posted by kruzz5 Aug 27th 2006

But this is very crucial to the story line. As the book says, Umbridge was slowly ridding Harry of all the things he enjoyed at Hogwarts. And the supposed life time ban from Quidditch is one of the biggies!! I mean how is the audience going to understand the enjoyment of that evil woman being carried off by the centars without knowing ALL the things she did to Harry prior to that!! If they did not want Quidditch to be part of the plot they should have never introduced it!!! I understand their are differences with each director and producer, but really, in film one the kids just had a nice stroll across the lawn to get to Harid's hut, but by their third year there was and earthquake or something because now they had a pretty steep, rocky hill to go down to get to Hagrid. And it is becoming more relaxed on the wearing of Muggle clothes? I mean come on, Hermione punched Malfoy after CoMC class!! Why don't they just take out Dementors, and Harry engraving "I must not tell lies" into the back of his hand as well. I also hate how in a time when eye color can be changed in the blink of an eye, Harry's acid green eyes he got from his mother are now brilliant blue!!

Posted by muggl3tt3 Aug 27th 2006

Yeah, I heard there wasn't going to be any Quidditch scenes. It would be mentioned, but not shown. Because when Hagrid shows Harry and Hermione Gwap, the match happens, and they don't watch it. I really wanted them to show the scene when Harry and Fred(or George?) beat up malfoy, and the whole 'Weasley is our King' thing. How will they be banned from Quidditch then? Will they even mention that?

Posted by laxgirl101191 Aug 27th 2006

OH MY GOSH~ this is completly ridiculous......i was looking forward to seeing that in the film!!! I say we protest!!! JK......Weasley is Our King!!!

Posted by hp323232 Aug 27th 2006

ugggg!!! i'll just sit here and wait till the producers say they were just kidding... intl then i'll just keep gaging and coughing (gag kof)

Posted by tenner91 Aug 27th 2006

WHAT! thats the biggest bunch of shhh i've ever heard! thats the best part of OOTP! thats all i was looking forward to. What a load of fuckers.

Posted by Dan_fan Aug 27th 2006

I wonder if they relize that w/o quidditch less people will see the movie and when less people see the movie, they will lose money.

Posted by dementor Aug 27th 2006

i guess they had to cut something. but still this was ron's moment to shine, to prove he was more than just a goofy sidekick. and now how is harry gonna be banned from quidditch, and fred and george leaving, and when is hagrid gonna tell harry and hermione about grawp?? so many questions.....i hope what they did was for the best. maybe it will work out afterall. who knows..

Posted by americanidoluver Aug 27th 2006

OMG that would have made an awesome scene! UGH these stupid directors!!!!!!! and to answer past questions: Yes they could give Harry detention from Umbridge because she gave him detention cuz he said Voldemort was back. Not because of Quidditch. And I guess that they'll just cut out the scene where he is banned from quidditch. Maybe they'll put the Ron&Hermione kiss in somewhere else. I mean, its not majorly important like Harry and Cho's kiss, because it is just a kiss on the cheek, but still it would be nice. I think Fred and George's scene will still be there. If not, I'm betting Warner Bros would have to deal with hate mail, an angry mob and countless and pointless petitions. lol.

They make a fuss about Hogsmeade, but I assure you, Harry, it's not all it's cracked up to be. All right, the sweetshop's rather good, and Zonko's Joke Shop is frankly dangerous, and yes, the Shrieking Shack's always worth a visit, but really, Harry, apart from that you're not missing anything.
