HBP mistake fixed
In the first editions of Half-Blood Prince, an error discovered in "An Excess of Phlegm" stated that Hermione received one Exceeds Expectations and ten Outstanding grades in her OWLs. However, she only took ten subjects. Our Potter Encyclopedia had staggered a guess that she took the "Muggle Studies exam and passed it with top marks despite dropping the subject at the end of her third year."
Now, HarryLatino.com reports that this was indeed a genuine error and has been rectified in recent editions of Book 6; it now reads she earned nine Os and one EE. Phew!

thats good although i never noticed
2nd comment! :P Not that it matters too much though. Anyway, that's cool. Goes to show that everyone makes mistakes! Yay! :)
I wondered...
GASP! things like that that make you happy to have early editions. ^_^
Never noticed it. But now, I can show all my nieces and nephews or kids that I have a mistake in my copy of HBP!
Thank Goodness! I haven't gotten a good nights sleep since the book came out!
WHOA I never noticed that lol. GOOD JOB =)
I never noticed that. I wonder who did first? Well, thanks to the person who did!
cool. i love book mistakes! it shows jk isnt a god after all! 10?
I didn't notice. I did notice the wand order mistake from GoF before it was corrected. But I didn't count how many subjects Hermione was taking . . .
top 10 ?! ya i had noticed that
i did Not notice that, i can't believe somebody did though.
lol! thats just mad!
2 bad I never noticed this. Top 20?
never noticed... oh well, i have that mistake version! hehe :)
I'm a little confused then. Was the genuine error that she only received nine outstandings and one Exceeds Expectations? Or was the error that she indeed received ten Outstandings and one Exceeds Expectations which includes earning an OWL in Muggle Studies?
Gosh i love mugglenet when they do this kind of stuff! Well im glad we have this great website well thanks! We love u Jo!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm that was not really all that big of a deal but her being Hermione i always wondered why she didnt go for 12 OWLS like Percy and Bill and Barty Crouch Jr. ???
i'll be sure to buy another book... ; )
Hmm, never noticed.
so is my edition no a collector's item? lol
it didn't make a difference it wsa still a wicked awesome book dude
i hate it when they correct mistakes after book comes out.. it's just kinda weird... if it's sumthin minor like a number... or "wand" being on harry's school list twice.. than i guess it doesn't really matter... but like in the 4th one the order that harry's parents come out in.... i think it should just be left they way it was written... even if it was a mistake
wow.
lol and to think that i thought i was a horrible harry potter fan for not understanding that part...im glad they caught the mistake. it saves all harry potter fans so much trouble.
boy... that sure makes me happy... i really do care about those kind of mistakes... they really shape the whole book!!!!!! yay!
AH! I'm so proud. I DID notice that. Lol. I might not be good with plot stuff, but I'm good with tiny facts
Well they should give Hermione another O for just being the best charactor in Harry Potter :D. I will give you one of my Os Hermione, Thatnks for being my favorite charactor :D
Yeah, I agree with gummybearlily. Hermione should get another O - she's awesome. But now, see, I feel stupid. I didn't even notice. I just went, "Cool, 10 O's...." I LOVE the HP books - OBVIOUSLY - but I never notice stuff like that. That's why I love MuggleNet. ;)
didn't notice.good thing they fixed it.
Damn...I can't believe people notice these things.. O.O
Yeah I noticed that =] I caught the wand order thing too before anyone told me about it. Hehe I like having books with mistakes in them.
I didn't notice that...*sniff* but I DID notice the wand order mistake! =) That makes me feel good....Lol. Wonder if the hardback edition with the mistake is worth money someday....*ponders* =)
Yay! I love it when I get the First Edition and theres a mistake. It makes me feel special.
wow i didnt even notice that... DANS STILL HOT!
i like having the un-fixed version. i feel like it's special, like different. it shows that behind Jo and her brilliant mind, and all the editors and publishers, there are still real people behind the wonderful creation of Harry Potter, that we all know and love. :)
My friend sent this in to Mugglenet, but they said that it wasn't a mistake and we could never exactly be sure of Hermione, but it is obviously a mistake. I'm glad it was fixed, but I agree with amandarose.
i never really noticed that. then again..............i never notice any mistakes cause im so caught up in the book!!

I never really noticed that...actually I didn't know how many classes hermoine took, I pay more attention to the bigger parts of the book...
As someone said earlier, I HAVE wondered why Hermione didn't go for 12 OWLs. That's kid of like saying NO girl ever has, since everyone says "she's the brightest witch of her age they've ever seen." I've also wondered how the others did it without time turners, or if they did use them. Anyways, do you all know what page that's on? I'd like to see which edition I have.
i didnt notice, ill have to look it up. me mum got HBP for me the day it came out in hardback, so the mistake should be in there ^_^. now as for me not noticing.... i have an excuse! i probably didnt notice because i started with the 5th book and didnt know what was going on. i know, lame excuse.... but its all i got :)
Now they should fix the "Malfoy looked like Hermione had PUNCHED him" line. I've found lots of spelling errors and such, recently, like in the third one. I don't know why I was shocked to find errors, they happen, but it's Harry Potter! haha
Wow, I never even noticed. Hehe! O well, nice 2 know that it's been fixed!
That takes a load of my mind... not. Although I think I did wonder about that when I was reading-- But it's such a trivial matter that it doesn't really matter.
INTENSITY.
thats still really good!
Wow, who sits around and takes the time to think "Wait, Hermione dropped Muggle Studies at the end of her third year! We must fix this error at once for the sake of our future generations, for they might be confused out of their minds!" I mean seriously, does someone not have a life? Anyway... About the "be glad you have an early copy" thing...I need a new copy...because mine the first 100 or so pages fell out because I let my friend borrow my book (stupid mistake) and my sister was mad at me and decided to run around with my book as I chased her and she threw it. Bye-bye, HBP *tear* But now, my new copy will just be screwed up! Well...actually it will be fixed...but whatever.
I had never noticed that lol.I just went back in my book and saw that it has the error and now I notice
