Know your movie facts? Win a scholarship!
The Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation is holding a movie quiz which includes questions on the Potter films (along with Shrek, Aladdin, Toy Story, and a few others).

The contest is based on a series of short multiple choice quizzes. You receive 500 points for each correct answer and lose 1 point for each second taken to complete each question. The person with the most points at the end is the scholarship winner.

A $250 scholarship will be awarded to the person who gets the highest combined score on the two quizzes you must take. To enter, visit this page on their site. Good luck to anyone who enters! Thanks to Jelani, Anna, and Leah for the tip.

Posted by hpwizkid Dec 5th 2006

Oh goodie.......I knew about this scholarship for a bit now, and I was planning on entering because I need this scholarship for college next year....it is about time that loving Harry Potter is paying off......woot woot!

Posted by Luvs_harry_more_then_ginny Dec 5th 2006

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!! Can't wait to take it!! I've been watching disney movies since I was 2!!

Posted by domp Dec 5th 2006

I highly doubt that if I try that I will win.... but if I do... It will help pay for my room and board bill this year [that is if the money is awarded soon after the competition] To anyone that tries out..... GOOD LuCK!

Posted by hpintwense06 Dec 5th 2006

that sounds pretty cool, but i have a feeling they will be very hard questions. probably things like, "what color are jasmine's eyes from aladdin" (ok, maybe that isn't a hard question...) or other detail oriented questions. just my thought, but it sounds like a really cool way to get a scholarship, and i love the movies that are mentioned. i doubt i will enter though. good luck to those who do! :)

Posted by marsisbrighttonight Dec 5th 2006

darn im not old enough to enter :( good luck to those who do!

Posted by MuggleMage Dec 5th 2006

wow I should enter. I won't do well though, I've never watched Aladdin all the way through :P

Posted by AdrianTresk Dec 5th 2006

I'm not interested in any scholarship but I'd be interested just to take the test ... Good lck to anyone who goes for it though

Posted by Imalshen Dec 5th 2006

hehahahaha! I got this from my official scholarship ship site-fastweb.com just a few hours ago. I'm poor so I'm hoping I'll get something-along with the other 64 scholarships I'm going for...lol Well hey, I've already got $26,000 to my top choice, Baylor...and it's what-$30,000+ a year? My point exactly. ;)

Posted by LadyRachem Dec 5th 2006

Oh boy, if I win, that's another half an hour in college COVERED.

Posted by Losers_Lurgy Dec 5th 2006

that's awsome and all, but I can't exactly enter it with out more details..... the website doesn't exactly give a lot of them. what does CKSF stand for????

Posted by iluvbeingme23 Dec 5th 2006

Darn it, MuggleNet, you blew the cover. Now a half million more people are going to enter than before. Boo on you.

Posted by HPbrownLove1 Dec 5th 2006

oh i wish i could enter...don't think ill win though. I'm not a HUGE Aladin fan good luck to all those who do enter though =)

Posted by sugarquill4 Dec 5th 2006

I already entered into this!

Posted by Ronaldweasley Dec 5th 2006

Werid..

Posted by Witchy_Woman Dec 5th 2006

That is so odd. What is the scholership? twenty bucks?

Posted by Hannah_Montana Dec 5th 2006

Gah! Mugglenet! Why did you have to tell everyone about this? I got an email about this earlier and will be entering, but I learned of it through a scholarship search site. I don't think you should have posted this because now every Potter fan and their grandma will enter this making it less likely that the people who need the extra money and put extra time into searching for scholarships will actually get it. Not cool...

Posted by Serinity Dec 5th 2006

I'm giving it a shot. never seen aladin though, so I hope there aren't very many questions on that one.

Posted by SiriuslyHP Dec 5th 2006

yay! I got an email on this earlier too!! it's only for $250 but hey it's still money :) and CKSF stands for common knowledge scholarship foundation... for those of you who were wondering

Posted by hermyron Dec 5th 2006

Noooooo! Mugglenet! I found out about this scholarship all on my own just a few hours ago, and I registered, and was very happy because I had such a big chance! And then I came here to check the news, and you put my secret info out into the world of addicts for all the other hpmaniacs to see, and now I hardly stand a chance, even though I watched it just the other day with the whole ABC premeire thingy. grr.

Posted by Serinity Dec 5th 2006

huh, well, I checked the dates. I'm not even going to be here to take the quizzes (I'll be on vacation). Oh well, good luck to everyone who's entering!

Posted by Steffy88 Dec 5th 2006

Hopefully I win something. I really need cash for the spring term.

Posted by GeoffreyNham Dec 5th 2006

Check out the privacy policy of that website before you enter... they're not just giving away free money.

Posted by caterthegator Dec 6th 2006

dang you mugglenet... i wanted this to be my little secret... along with everyone else that got the info off of fastweb

Posted by tser Dec 6th 2006

This is awesome, I am going to see all the movies all over again.!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by iwishiwashermione Dec 6th 2006

yea! it was worth it to see all those movies!!

Posted by ginny53 Dec 6th 2006

I dont need a scholarsip now and I doutb I am even old enough to enter. I am only 13 so the scholarship would have to wait about 6 years before I could use it for college

Posted by ginny53 Dec 6th 2006

I am not old enough, you have to be atleast in High School, which makes sense. But darn, I could have done good, I love all those movies

Posted by Shanachelle Dec 6th 2006

that's cool.. and its cool yall put it on here...

Posted by Margaret Dec 6th 2006

Well, I can enter if this is still going in April...I'm only thirteen so I can't enter until my birthday.

Posted by britishwannabe Dec 6th 2006

A 250 dollar scholarship? Heh....I'll need a better scholarship than that for college! What the heck? I'll give it a try anways....

Posted by vigilance06 Dec 6th 2006

to britishwannabe: those little scholarships add up, and when you're a broke college student like me, it makes a difference. =] but now i have to compete with all the people that visit mugglenet for the money! =(

Posted by hp323232 Dec 6th 2006

i wonder if they will be easy or hard? example: what is the last name of harry's dreadful aunt uncle and couson? (easy) or: what is the total # of chapters in the first, second, and third boooks? (hard); or maybe a little inbetween or a little of both; i wonder how many people will enter the contest? and last but not least i think the grand prize should be more than just $250.

Posted by jacqueline_n Dec 6th 2006

Is anyone else having trouble registering? Whenever I complete the registration, it never completely goes through.

Posted by Ethel Dec 7th 2006

What a terrible reason to give a scholarship. O___O There's nothing scholarly about sitting on one's arse watching films.

Posted by hptriviachampTC Dec 9th 2006

Even if it's only $250 it's still a nice chunk of change, and I go to one of the most expensive private colleges in the US (about $35,000 a year, all on scholarship of course). Any scholarship-hungry college student will tell you that every little bit helps. If you want, right now they're hosting a practice quiz all about Chamber of Secrets for a $50 gift card. It's only 20 questions... and I scored an 8883. I accidentally put "Pansy Parkinson" for the person Hermione wanted to change into (with Polyjuice potion) because I was going so fast and once I clicked submit I just about kicked myself. Ugh. Oh well. Good luck to all who enter!

Posted by dream_spells Dec 10th 2006

The test was easy I thought. I got a score of 9838. But good look to everybody that entered!

Posted by AmberEyes Dec 11th 2006

A scholarship? For movie trivia? They should be encouraging potential students to read and study, not sit around watching movies. x.X
