Potter to stay in Georgia schools
Laura Mallory's case for removing the Harry Potter books from Georgia's libraries was dealt another blow today, as the Georgia Board of Education made a unanimous decision to keep the books.

The Gwinnett County school board also voted previously for the books to remain, but Mallory appealed the decision to the state school board. Mallory, who has been working for over a year to ban the books, has shown no signs of giving up, as there is talk of yet another appeal.

HA! Take that! Good will always triumph over evil!!!!

Posted by Kaffs Dec 14th 2006

Take that, yah stupid lady

Posted by pigwidgeon Dec 14th 2006

Mrs Mallory, please stop wasting everyone's time and money. They could be doing murder trials instead of listening to your case, which is never going to win. I suggest that if you have sooo much spare time, you should go and do voluntary work or something useful.

lol cool

Posted by Anna Dec 14th 2006

Too bad this woman isn't fighting for less pollution or animal rights or something along the line, at least she's persistent ;)

Posted by celic_whysper Dec 14th 2006

I seriously cannot stand people like that! "Ooh, Harry Potter is EVIL!" Obviously, they've never bothered to read the books. Harry Potter is the prime example of good triumphing OVER evil.

Posted by allyp89 Dec 14th 2006

comment? again? HUH? clock laptop jenny haha

Posted by crazy_ned Dec 14th 2006

HAHAHA!!!! Can anyone say, "LOSER?" I think it's funny that this idiot is trying so hard to ban books she hasn't even bothered to read, because they're "too long."

Posted by FelixFelicis06 Dec 14th 2006

I agree with JeNaN. She should read the books because she would like them and then she can stop wasting her time fighting a losing battle.

Posted by iceboots Dec 14th 2006

After many unanimous votes I don't get why she's even allowed to appeal

Posted by ickle_diddykins Dec 14th 2006

Another appeal! When is she going to understand that no matter what she does, they're not going to take the books off the shelves? I not sure if it's possible, but I would LOVE for her idea to get shot down at the US Supreme Court level. That would be awesome!

Posted by silverglass19 Dec 14th 2006

Wow, can't take a hint can she? In the words of our own Ron Weasley...How thick could ye get?!

Posted by MargaretLouise Dec 14th 2006

ass. give up, already. harry potter wins. ESPECIALLY OVER STUPID ASS WHORES LIKE YOUU.

Posted by shauryakmr Dec 14th 2006

She is stupid, trying to ban books on witchcraft. There have been worse ones....

Posted by The_Maltese_Fan Dec 14th 2006

Is she going to appeal and appeal for the rest of her life?? This is so stupid!

Posted by Hedwig Dec 14th 2006

How dare she try to take away the free choice of all those students! She is insulting their intelligence as well as the books which she has NO KNOWLEDGE about!! I don't know if she even knows what she's doing! Ridiculous woman! Alas, stupidity and ignorance is ever persistant!

Posted by harrys_wand Dec 14th 2006

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Her truth doesn't exist! lol listen to THIS "Let's get the Mallory family a babysitter so that Laura Mallory can take the weekend off to read one of the books from the Harry Potter series." ~http://www.ram pway.org/article.php?id=8 38 - i like that quote :) :) :) :) didja know tht mallory means ill-fated (according to wikipedia)?

Posted by Inferi596 Dec 14th 2006

give up, lady! it was a UNANIMOUS decision... again! just stop wasting ppl's time and maybe spend that time reading the books and actually seeing what they really are about rather than trying to appeal books you're ignorant to.

Posted by Nusayba Dec 14th 2006

Ugh. She is soooo annoying. I think she is just bored and needs a life. Just leave the frigging books along, lady! You are NEVER going to win!!

Posted by mike_n_lisa Dec 14th 2006

I guess it would be too much to ask for this woman to actually read the books before she starts running her mouth about devil worship and pagan practices. GET A LIFE!!!!!

Posted by fabricio429 Dec 14th 2006

This woman IS UNBELIEVABLE! She's got to be suffering from some kind of mental issue.. she should be worring about wolrd hunger, overpopulation, nuclear wars, her lack of personality.. i don't know, some other REAL problem and leave the books alone [what have they done to her ¬¬]

Posted by pickles_not_dawlish Dec 14th 2006

She kinda needs to move on... just maybe. Is there by any chance a limit to the number of times you can appeal this?? I also wish mugglecast had gotten a hold of her.....that would have been really funny.... but seriously, a UNANIMOUS ruling against her.....you'ld would think she might take the hint and go find a better way to get in the media....

Posted by AmberEyes Dec 14th 2006

Another unanimous decision. The jury members are my heroes!

Posted by heartnut Dec 14th 2006

Ms. Mallory, you cannot keep going with this--don't you realize that you are just convincing more and more people to read these "witchcraft books" that you are so against? Just as Hermione discovered in the fifth book, the best way to ensure that people will read it will be to ban it. DUH. I thought people this stupid weren't allowed to breed? I mean, honestly, the only control she has is over her own children, how DARE she try to tell other parents how to raise their children? Maybe she should be a guest on that "Wife Swap" show. It would be quite funny.

Posted by Ayzil Dec 14th 2006

She reminds me of Kitty Farmer from Donnie Darko.

Posted by AmberEyes Dec 14th 2006

pickles_not_dawlish "you'ld would think she might take the hint and go find a better way to get in the media...." If this lady won American Idol, ended world hunger, won a noble peace prize, and adopted 40 orphans, I would still remember her as the stupid lady from Georgia trying to ban Harry Potter.

Posted by pickles_not_dawlish Dec 14th 2006

good idea about the wife swap....i feel sorry for the family that got her though....lol... To harrys_wand: i will babysit her kids for the weekend....lol. and INTRODUCE THEM TO THE SATANIC ART OF READING!!! MWAHAHAHAAAA! we should start something where we all start sending her copies of the books and stuff like that....haha.

Posted by CarolTL Dec 14th 2006

Another appeal?? Laura Mallory has been sniffing too much floo powder again.

Posted by Sariza Dec 14th 2006

Another appeal?! Why can't she just give up already! I know she feels very strongly about this but it has gone far enough! Seriously, I mean if you can't beat um, join um right? She needs to a) break down and actually read the books, and b) stop the madness! I'm not trying to attack her or anything, I just don't understand why she keeps going with this after the Board has made it quite clear how they feel about this matter.

Posted by AccioSeverus Dec 14th 2006

on behalf of the entire Harry Potter community, i would like to say: BOO YAH!!! and give it up; they're obviously not going to change their minds after two unanimous decision to keep the books there. sometimes you just have to learn when to quit.

Posted by Matrinka Dec 14th 2006

Thank god -- common sense prevailing over moronic religious dogma

Posted by harrymyhero900 Dec 14th 2006

I feel sooo sory for her kids. they must be so embarrased.

Posted by pickles_not_dawlish Dec 14th 2006

that is very true AmberEyes...she will always be "that stupid lady from georgia who tried (and failed!) to get the Harry POtter books banned"...

Posted by bwof Dec 14th 2006

Good decision, good decision, otherwise it would be a huge loss. I mean it ;). And good one CarolTL. All those who want to ban the potter books are ridiculous and are obviously looking for nothing but attention. Basta. Cut it out. :)

Posted by Alohomorra Dec 14th 2006

Do you think she's considering *another* appeal simply because she likes the publicity?

Posted by AmberEyes Dec 14th 2006

She resembles the Planter's Peanut man, I think. If you squint and tilt your head.

Posted by Potterdad Dec 14th 2006

A letter in support of Ms Mallory, First i have read all of the Harry Potter Books and OOTP is my favorite. with that said I support Ms. Mallory and her efforts for these reasons: 1. Ms Mallory wants these books removed from public schools. school libraries are publicly funded by tax payers dollars. And Ms. Mallory is not asking the books be banned entirely just from School Libraries. 2. Schools wont allow religious activites like praying or saying the pledge but will allow books like Harry Potter . And even though harry potter doesn't outrightly support witch craft or the occult it does show a society where the goverment raises children and parent's place the responsibility of child care on the state. Also these children are allowed to run amok while at campus with little real supervision. 3. With Parenthood comes great responsibility. To raise your child in a sfe enviroment. in a loving enviroment and in a enviroment that promotes education. In americas society where so many parents are letting TV, Movies and the Mall To raise their children Ms Mallory is trying to set a good example by standing up for what she feels is in the best interest of children. Instead of abdacating that reponsibility to others. I am the Father of two boys ages 4 and 5 it is my blessing to be their dad and it is my responsibility to protect and nuture them so they can grow up to be the very best they can be. I Applaud any parent who will face redicule and sacrifice to protect their children . Think of Ms Mallory, all the hate mail she has recieved all the evil looks from others and the harasment by the media. but this woman is standing by her convictions and doing what she beleives is right. Again she wants the books removed from school libraries not banned outright.

Posted by Anjyp Dec 14th 2006

My goodness, can't she take a hint! I'm sorry, but at this point another appeal shouldn't even be allowed. It's just a waste of everybody's time.

Posted by bwof Dec 14th 2006

Well that or I am very worried for her because in that case she must want to ban them because she thinks they are bad and then she´s missed the point and should consider to actually read the books and get the real message ;)!! sigh, too long a sentence, apologise.

Posted by Belsito Dec 14th 2006

I just pity her own poor kids. The depravity of sense in that family must border on being abusive. Pink Floyd must have had a woman like her in mind when they wrote "Another Brick in the Wall". She must have built a wall round these kids that they'll never be able to see over.

Posted by pickles_not_dawlish Dec 14th 2006

you know Potterdad, no offense, but she could always just forbid HER children to read them...

Posted by skates Dec 14th 2006

Yea finally!! When will people like this woman get it through their thick heads?!?! POTTER RULES!!!

Posted by AmberEyes Dec 14th 2006

"Amendment I : Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "

Posted by MCR_Potter_Fan Dec 14th 2006

I agree with pickles_not_dawlish. Thats a great idea! Send her copies, hardback, paperback, one in every lanuage! Dam woman. Cant she get the books banned in some place like.... Antartica? Im sure the penguins wouldnt mind...
