Omigosh I cant believe it I keep on repeting it over and over like "Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry Potter and the DeathlyHallows Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." And peopkle around me think I am INSANE! But wow guys! Think about it...it is just sooo sad ya know? This Is th e beginning of the END! No more HP after the Deathly Hallows. I can hardly like digest the fact that it...is...nearly...over. I mean this had been such an enormous part of all of our lives...the analyzing, the theorizing, the fanfics, the fanart, just the everything that we have been builiding up until now will either be shut down or brought forth in this final book. Good Lord. I can't get over it. We have been obsessing over this amazing amazing book for so long...for most of my life in fact! And now in little more than a year or two it'll be out...and it will all be over. Over. Fin. No More. No more analyzing and podcasting. Over. And just the thought of not feverishly checking Mugglenet or Leaky every five seconds or Waiting on tenterhooks for the next podcast...it is just sad you know? It's nearly done. And I think I will go to my corner and cry. And maybe after all the depression I will go reread all six books. And dudes, If I am so spastic about a TITLE...I will seriously be in trouble when I am holding that book in my hands...and then finishing it. Wow. It's almost over. One glimmer of hope though...It's not over just yet.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was lame too. You just have to get used too it after a couple of days. It feels like a lame title because you expected so much for so long about the title. And then you dicover the real title and instead of your computer exploding with joy it just shows a few words and that's it. And then you know the title and it feels disappointing because mere words can never live up to the expectations of a HP obsessed person.

My take is this: Hallow's from "all Hallow's Eve" meaning saints, and Deathly as in having the qualities of death. So dead saints, or in view ghosts. We already know from what Jo has told us about book 7 that we find out why some people become ghosts when they die and others dont. She has also said that we find out something HUGE about lily potter. SO, I put the two together and say that LILY POTTER IS A GHOST that haunts godric's hollow and harry will learn some very important things from her when he goes there. Dumbledore's portrait will likely talk to harry at some point as well and that is a form a of a ghost I would say. So lots of ghosly information in this book.

I can see how curious you all are, waiting to find out what happened to Voldy. I must first tell what happens to the Weasley family, now that Harry and Ginny are dead, there's no Hogwarts (or McGonagall), Ron's boring (and bored!) and depressed, and Molly has a heart attack after disowning Ginny and finding out that she's dead! (If only she wasn't always so scared of losing her little kiddies.) Sadly, St. Mungo's couldn't help her, so she died, too. So, the twins' shop is burned down, Arthur becomes depressed, and they're all sick of life. In spite of all of this, the remaining Weasleys join together and move to Antarctica, never to be seen or heard from again! I just listened to PotterCast (the special mini one on the book title) and I almost started crying. It's finally sunk in for me that this is it. This is the last book, the last title we're ever going to get, the last... okay, I gotta stop or I'm seriously going to cry.

Like you, I was originally under the impression that the word “Hallows� meant “spirits,� but this easily may have been an incorrect gut reaction. Even after looking up ‘hallow’ in the dictionary and realizing that the definitions provided there were more related to “holiness� and “veneration,� I felt drawn to my original guess (“spirits�), and then began to formulate a theory based on that shaky foundation. Therefore, I realized that the “Hallows� = soul fragments theory is likely more than a little bit off-track. At that point, I decided to run with the theory anyways, as ideas were just flowing out, and as not to hinder this flow, I ignored the fact that ‘hallow’ literally means “to make hallowed,� and refers to holiness, which most certainly is not among Voldemort’s qualities. Point taken. As far as JK always introducing something new in her titles, you are correct with your observations on titles 1-6. I feel that in creating her books, JK skillfully mixes two processes: (1) inventing and presenting new information to the readers, and (2) filling in and completing the storyline by referring back to information that the audience already knows. The different titles in the series exhibit different mixtures of these two processes. The 2nd and 4th titles were based on entirely new information (process 1). However, while still referring to newly presented information (process 1), the 3rd, 5th, and 6th titles also refer to previously acquired information (process 2) regarding Azkaban prison, the nature/symbolism of phoenixes, and the condition of being “half-blood,� respectively (the 1st title has been omitted from this analysis because as the first words on the 1st book, it does not lend itself to process 2)...

Oh, no, I forgot Neville! That poor boy. Well, soon after the Wizarding world is cast into a replica of the Middle Ages, he's diagnosed with the black plague! The Middle Ages wouldn't be the Middle Ages without it. So, anyway, St. Mungo's does the best it can in healing him (he has temporary life), his gran is close to dead (not the black plague but the common cold instead--yeah, Rhinovirus doesn't usually hit magical folk), and his parents are just as insane as usual (though something will happen soon). Meanwhile, St. Mungo's starts going downhill. They're having plenty of problems just curing things such as the (un?)common cold and the black plague, and a Death Eater attack is planned on top of it!
