it beat the bible? lol, it should've been first!

Posted by july21tillhp7 Mar 1st 2007

cool 1?

Posted by phoenixchica590 Mar 1st 2007

well that's kinda cool. interesting to see who beat out harry potter. as much as i love those other books, harry potter is really the only one i couldn't live without.

Posted by MichelleLynn Mar 1st 2007

honeslty, i probably could live without most of those books, except for the Bible but To Kill A Mockingbird is a pretty awesome book as well

Posted by july21tillhp7 Mar 1st 2007

it suprises me the bible isn't as popular as hp...

Posted by PhoenixVeil Mar 1st 2007

I would agree with most of those. Out of that selection LotR would have been at my top spot followed by HP I think. Very surprised the bible wasn't number one. I'm sure I read recently it was the most popular book in the world. Anyway, nice to HP done so well on the poll.

Posted by harrys_metamorphmagus Mar 1st 2007

I think it's funny how like all of them are in front of the bible, kinda weird though... 7?

Posted by Six_shot_wand Mar 1st 2007

I cant believe harry potter beat the bible, there is defienetly a problem with this world, and i blame the parents. I love harry potter but the bible - man. At least Lord of the rings came in before HP liked i said i love HP but LOTR is much better.

Posted by emily55 Mar 1st 2007

I love Pride and Prejudice!

Posted by Dreami Mar 1st 2007

Yeah, I'm suprised too. How much do you guys want to bet Laura Mallory will make a big deal out of the Bible behind Lotr/Harry Potter? *rolls eyes* As much as I love Harry Potter, I am glad the Lord of the Rings books came first. They truely deserve the higher spot.

Posted by Quiscalus Mar 1st 2007

Number 4 is pretty good. If we voted, it would be number one! Too bad.

Posted by HPmgFan62442 Mar 1st 2007

ahahahahha! I love book readers here, HP is sooooo better than the Bible. Laura Mallory will have a field day! haha! yay! all those books are cool. I'm reading TKaMb right now actually, it's really good. To rival Potter, but nothing will ever exceed it in my mind! :) ahahhahah LOL!

Posted by browncoat Mar 1st 2007

Dreami less, you beat me to it. I too was wondering when Laura Mallory will see this as an opportunity to disgrace the HP series. My goodness, she could use this as evidence...something she's not familiar with! [/sarcasm].

Posted by emily55 Mar 1st 2007

Oh, and the Bible isn't on the best seller list either, because I heard once if it was, it would almost always take the number one spot. So I think this book list is something similar.

Posted by xGothikx Mar 1st 2007

HP pwns Bible XD

Posted by Belsito Mar 1st 2007

I have all those books but what I have on my bedside table are Pride and Prejudice and The Harry Potter Books. I've been in love with Mr. Darcy ever since I read the P & P, YEARS ago at school but now I find myself torn between him and Prof Lupin (and my poor husband, of course).

Posted by MagdaleneRose Mar 1st 2007

wow! Above the Bible? that is really something! though I'd put HP at the top of my list.

Posted by Ginny Mar 1st 2007

I looove some of those books... but i can't beleive harry is fourth!:P... it should be first!!... loong live haarry potter!!... wooohhooo!!

Posted by skates Mar 1st 2007

I like some of those books, but HArry Potter is not fourth!!! HELLO!! I cannot live off those books I need them to breathe!

Posted by missinconspicuous Mar 1st 2007

Surely Great Expectations should be 5% or 5.5%, not 55% ;) but it's cool that HP came so high - above the Bible even! Interesting.

Posted by Pixiestx Mar 1st 2007

ya i don't think its supposed to be 55%... that doesn't make any sense

Posted by Silver_Shivers Mar 1st 2007

cool

Posted by july21tillhp7 Mar 1st 2007

i agree with sixth_shot(kinda weird after i got in a small lil argument with him yesterday... =/ ) buts todays hes totaly right.. its sad that harry potter is more popular then the bible!! shame on EVERYBODY who likes the harry potter more then the bible!! *asks himself* what has this world come to?...

Posted by myhermione Mar 1st 2007

Why is the bible on that list at all?

Posted by Nikki_85 Mar 1st 2007

Lord of the Rings and Pride and Prejudice are two of my favourite books in the entire world, along with all the HP books of course. But To Kill a Mockingbird and Jane Eyre are also firm favourites, not to mention Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy.....AAAHHHH, so many wonderful books, how can you choose a favourite out of all of those?!!

Posted by Nikki_85 Mar 1st 2007

july21tillhp7, why shame on everybody who likes Harry Potter more than the Bible? What's so wrong with that? Not everyone follows the bible and its teachings, but that doesn't make them bad people. I was brought up as Catholic, but unfortunately the Bible left me cold. That doesn't make me a bad person though, just because I like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings more. There are a lot of moral lessons to be gleaned from those books. At the end of the day, it's personal choice - don't bash those who choose to follow different teachings to the Bible - it's just narrow mindedness.

Posted by Karen62442 Mar 1st 2007

How much do you want to bet that the first story we hear in the mainstream media is how HP beat the Bible in this survey; forget about LOTR and the others that beat it?

Posted by itsup2usoftball Mar 1st 2007

wow, it beat out the bible! It should surpass the lord of the rings, but then again, I may be bias, I am posting on a Harry Potter fan site ;)

Posted by Meitar Mar 1st 2007

hahahaha!!! It beat the Bible! I knew that THIS is THE BOOK OF BOOKS!!! althogh it's only 4th place...=[*crying*

Posted by ihavethepower Mar 1st 2007

i would have picked the bible over hp tho.

Posted by CeciliaJ Mar 1st 2007

Loads of good books there, but I have to say I think HP should be in the top three!

Posted by CeciliaJ Mar 1st 2007

Someone should show the list to Laura M!! :D

Posted by HarryPotterFreakSophia Mar 1st 2007

WHAT! IT SHOULDA BEEN FIRST! IT'S AN OUTRAGE! Sorry, i have issues.

Posted by Quiscalus Mar 1st 2007

Nikki_85, you took the words right out of my mouth. You put it perfectly. Thank you.

Posted by argentinianwitch093 Mar 1st 2007

Take that Laura Mallory! Besides, that book would've been in the first spot SOMEONE had told all of us! The next time someone sees a poll involving HP PLEASE inform Mugglenet! I'm also pretty surprised HP beat the Bible, I mean, the HOLY Bible. LOL

Posted by dracodragon Mar 1st 2007

Haha it beat out the Bible. That shows what our priorities are. Sadly enough, it would be my number one lol.

Posted by Nikki_85 Mar 1st 2007

Thanks very much, Quiscalus, I'm glad somebody agreed with my ranting!

Posted by live_the_magic Mar 1st 2007

I agree witht he first 4 books, then the rest, I am not so sure about. But still, should have been Harry Potter, LotR, Pride and Prejudice and then Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre should not have beaten out Harry Potter.

Posted by phix27 Mar 1st 2007

Only Fourth! WTF?!? Pride and Predunce is okay, but not that great.

Posted by scarletpimpernel Mar 1st 2007

Hey people don't knock Prid and Prej and the others! they are ALL fab!!!!!# Harry Potter rocks. And the Bible SHOULD be on top but it isn't, the majrouty has spoken and we have to accept that. It doesn't make it any less worthy to read, y'all gotta remember that.

Posted by Shaun05 Mar 1st 2007

HP beat the bible? How long do you reckon it'll be before Laura Mallory goes on of a hot pursuit to flame those who made the list?

Posted by Six_shot_wand Mar 1st 2007

Nikki_85 There are alot more moral issue in the bible then there are in HP or LOTR. Great books but i would'nt live by a fictional story's. believe what you want or not want, but bible bashing for any religion wow totally crappy of you.

Posted by AnyaMarcos Mar 1st 2007

Ha haaaaaaa, the Bible's only number 6! Nyahh!

Posted by Heiress_of_Insanity Mar 1st 2007

Well, well, well! I was surprised to see that Harry Potter was up with all of the old novels and novelists from some of the greatest works of literature history! And I can't exactly believe that the Bible was only #6........

Posted by AnyaMarcos Mar 1st 2007

(points and laughs at all the stuck-up, indignant Christians.) It's like a Laura Mallory convention in here! LOLOLOLOL I love it when Christians get ticked off.

Posted by Nikki_85 Mar 1st 2007

Six_shot_wand, I wasn't bible bashing for any religion. I totally accept people's beliefs, whatever their religion. My point was, some people seem to think that because others prefer reading Harry Pottter than the Bible this makes them immoral, or bad people or whatever, which is complete crap. I don't "live by a fictional story's" morals, they were simply examples of how so many books out there other than the Bible teach good values. I AM NOT bashing the Bible, I am merely stating my OWN opinion, which is different to yours. I would never be so arrogant as to slam other peoples beliefs, but others should not be so arrogant as to belittle mine, just because I choose not to favour the Bible over other books.

Posted by AnyaMarcos Mar 1st 2007

The Bible IS fiction, and nothing the Chrisians say will change that. Ever. Ever. Ever. :-)

Posted by bermuda_muggle Mar 1st 2007

Harry Potter should have been first. And I am not surprised at all that it beat out the bible, in today's world that really shouldnt shock anyone!!!!

Posted by Six_shot_wand Mar 1st 2007

Anyamarcos: you dont have to be christian to beleive in the bible. There are alot of religions that use the bible. Nikki_85 i guess people are right never talk about religion and politics, it always starts a fight.

Posted by AnyaMarcos Mar 1st 2007

Six-Shot follows the moral issues in the Bible. Moral issues like killing the babies and children of your enemies, paying a man for the right to rape his daughter, buying and selling people to pay off their debts. Good, moral stuff like that. www.evilbible.com :-)
