Rumor: UK 'Deathly Hallows' 608 pages
British book chain Waterstone's is currently listing Deathly Hallows on their website as having 608 pages. If correct, this would make the US edition around 688 pages long.

However, it should be noted that the site also lists Half-Blood Prince with 608 pages, so Waterstone's could simply be using that page count as an estimate for Deathly Hallows. In addition, generally this type of information is released to the public (via JKRowling.com or her publishers) first.

Please consider this very much a rumor for now, and we will update you with more information as soon as possible.

Thanks to Tom for the heads-up!

Yay! First? i think i could handle that many pages.

Posted by nevilles_soulmate Mar 19th 2007

i hope it is longer. and it's probably just an estimate because what are the chances of books 6 and 7 heaving the same exact amount of pages.

Posted by Hermione_Granger090894 Mar 19th 2007

Yey! Second? I agree with ACBDenton, Any Potter could handle that..

Posted by muggle09 Mar 19th 2007

it should be way longer, but at least its more that 600 pages 3rd?

Posted by iheartdobby Mar 19th 2007

i would enjoy more pages than that :)

Posted by Spanna Mar 19th 2007

yay 4th, i want more pages, i want it 2 never end!!!!!

Posted by AGUADALUPITA Mar 19th 2007

I wouldn't care if it's 608 or 806 or even 1757 pages!

Posted by KatieRiddle Mar 19th 2007

not long enough

Posted by thiefofeddis Mar 19th 2007

Eh, I doubt this is the real page count. And I hope it's a bit longer than that!

Posted by magical Mar 19th 2007

i am love that is it more that order of the phoenix?

Posted by andromedax0x Mar 19th 2007

OmG! So excited. I dont care how many pages because any way it will be amazing!

Posted by Regulus_Black Mar 19th 2007

Something is strange! I found (while searching book retailer inforamtions about HPDH) that info! at http://www.siciliano.com. br Link: http://www.siciliano.com. br/importado.asp?tema=7&t ipo=2&clsprd=I&id=.993840 &orn=HPI SICILIANO claims HPDH (UK! edition) will contain 780 pages!!!!! Check it out. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Children S Edition J. K. Rowling ISBN: 9780747591054 Editora: MACMILLAN PUBLISHING Número de páginas: 780 Encadernação: Brochura Edição: 2007

Posted by ACBDenton Mar 19th 2007

A more complete coment, what I ment but I think I can handle that, is that if that is a rough minimum number pages, but of course I would absolutlely love many more pages! I just wanted to be the first comment for once! P.S. when is this weeks MC going to come out?!?!?!

Posted by LauraJWhite Mar 19th 2007

ONLY 688 pages? Considering the fact that this is the last book, and that JKR has a lot of loose ends to tie up...I would think that the book would be much longer. This kind of disappoints me. Judging by it's higher pre-order price, I hope Deathly Hallows is the biggest book yet! Laura

Posted by MeNotHer Mar 19th 2007

Definately an estimate

Posted by mastermike Mar 19th 2007

I've just had a look, and my British copy of Half-Blood Prince has 607 numbered pages. I highly doubt that Deathly Hallows would be so exactly close to it in length. Personally I'm not going to believe this.

Posted by harryfreak_org Mar 19th 2007

i don;t believe it but i hope is true!!!

Posted by lillink1222 Mar 19th 2007

I think it's too soon to be true. I don't think Jo is finished editing yet, so I think we still have a while before we learn how long the book really will be.

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Mar 19th 2007

Why is the usa copys bigger?

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 19th 2007

I do think Jo has finished editing...The cover art will be released within the coming weeks according to a source i have in Scholastic so I expect this information regarding page length to be announced via Jo's site...although im happy with 608...Jo always said that HBP and DH were a two parter....

Posted by miss_black Mar 19th 2007

608??? it's not enough!! it should be so much longer!!! i mean, it's da last book, common! after that.... no more potter! oh god.... nooo :(:(:(

Posted by foreveratlantic Mar 19th 2007

Not long enough...I want this to be the longest book yet.

Posted by Frini Mar 19th 2007

I just talked to Bloomsbury and they said the number of pages is not out yet. I had heard it would be around 780, but Bloomsbury said that has not been confirmed. :)

Posted by SarahTheBeansprout Mar 19th 2007

how come the american edition should end up 80 pages longer? doesnt seem fair

Posted by hp_rox_my_sox15 Mar 19th 2007

it can be longer than that!!! ;)

Posted by jiapet Mar 19th 2007

NOT long enough; I would be okay with 80,085,019,024 pages though.

Posted by xilovegeorgex Mar 19th 2007

Well I'd have preferred a good ol' never ending book, but i suppose I'll have to make do with 600 pages...

Posted by AlyGranger Mar 19th 2007

must be longer than 6

Posted by swedenrose3 Mar 19th 2007

I am hoping for 1608 pages! But I think that it a bit of wishful thinking. Anywho, I agree with the theory that they are using HBP as a basis for an est.

Posted by to_the_stage93 Mar 19th 2007

How are they supposed to know yet? I mean, according to what Jo's said, it sounds like they have just started editing it, so how can they possibly have a page count already? Wouldn't the page count depend on what they do while editing? SarahtheBeansprout is right, how does the US edition end up 80 pages longer? Do they use a bigger font so the stupid Americans have an easier time reading? And about Americans being stupid, that is a joke people! I am an American, and while I can testify that some Americans are stupid, the stupid Americans don't read Harry Potter, only the smart Americans.

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Mar 19th 2007

hmmm, it is JUST a rumor, I'll just wait until its official...

Posted by tgtgcgirl Mar 19th 2007

I also considered the idea that they took the p. number from HBP. That's what I thought before I even got to the second paragraph. The fact that the numbers are the same pretty much means that this is purely estimation, nothing more.

Posted by MuggleMage Mar 19th 2007

I don't think so and I really don't hope so!! If it's the last book then I want it to be BIG! I don't care if it breaks my back trying to carry it, make it loooooong.

Posted by july21tillhp7 Mar 19th 2007

just a rumor.. nothing to get excited about

Posted by Daaaawlish Mar 19th 2007

I highly doubt this because Jo said indicated that it would probably be longer than HBP

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Mar 19th 2007

Still, I would rather have ten pages of purely amazing jk writing, then 1000 of loong, booring, jk writing...

Posted by draco_loves_me Mar 19th 2007

only 608? i hope it is much much MUCH longer. plus there are so many loose ends to tie up, it would have to be!!!

Posted by SilentBob Mar 19th 2007

I'm sure most of us would prefer it to be quite long. Personally, I'd settle for about twice the size of OOTP. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would've liked HBP to be a bit longer as well, 'cause it wasn't as long as OOTP. I understand people complain about the books being too big and heavy, but it's more important that it's filled with all the magic that we've come to know throughout the series.

Posted by ellopoppet7hp Mar 19th 2007

hmmmmmm. sounds fishy... neways i doubt its true because Jo probably is still editing. besides 608 pages is fine...................bu t 999,999,999,999,999 is slightly better.

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Mar 19th 2007

I'd like to see a 999,999,999,999,999 page book...

Posted by Doxybiter_DH_ Mar 19th 2007

Well, I'm not buying it (the rumour, not the book;) Whoever talk about their Scholastic/Bloomsbury connections up there sound trustworthy (not bragging, not confirmed etc. After all it IS not confirmed). I do hope this will be the longest yet, though I think we ought to be happy with the (also rumoured) 780. 608 is really the minimun though, I think we can be sure that she wouldn't make the last book shorter than that anyway. Done ranting:p

Posted by SCPGOH_ad24 Mar 19th 2007

I think the book will be longer than that...thing of all the things that harry has to do. i know JKR ( way back when) said that she thinks it'll be shorter than book 5 but personally i think it has to be longer than the 5th book.. but thats why she is JK ROWLING. i reallllly hope its longer

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Mar 19th 2007

once agian, while the longer the better, I wouldn't want 200 pages of mindless nothingness...

Posted by RKRK1313 Mar 19th 2007

my 2 cents: this is most definitely just a rumor/estimate and nothing more. its still way to early to know the exact page count... and, usually, the book cover is revealed before the page count. my guess is that we will get the cover mid april, maybe a little later, and that the page count should follow in may. but for those who think this page count is short.... well i agree... but i dont think we should expect order of the phoenix length. im betting it will be a tiny, tiny bit longer than goblet of fire... but to be safe i think we can expect it to be in the 700-page-range (U.S. edition).

Posted by SarahTheBeansprout Mar 19th 2007

still no1 has informed me why the US version is 80 pages longer when its a british book (well british author... u would think it be the other way around)

Posted by puella_e Mar 19th 2007

i hope it is much longer

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 19th 2007

SarahTheBeansprout I think its because the american version has chapter art so their wording starts half way down the page whereas our version doesnt. But this might not be right-im not 100%. hopefully someone can explain correctly...

Posted by SCPGOH_ad24 Mar 19th 2007

Dragon_queen4ever i agree, but i doubt JKR would put "mindless nothingness"
