UK 'Deathly Hallows' page count undecided
Yesterday we told you that Waterstone's was listing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as having 688 pages. Bloomsbury has informed us that a page extent for the UK edition of the book has not yet been confirmed.

Hmm... I'd BETTER be longer than 688. The idea that the last book is only the third-longest book in the series? I thought there was a bit more stuff to wrap up, Jo.

Posted by sectumsempra99 Mar 20th 2007

obviously! it was just a rumor after all.

Posted by Czechmetz Mar 20th 2007

I was kind of freaked out by that news yesterday so I'm glad that it's been confirmed that it's not confirmed... Heck yes, I hope it's twice the size of OotP!

Posted by michelle439731 Mar 20th 2007

Woo the 1st comment wasn't just to say 1st. So I'll say it. Woo 3rd! Lol! Don't want longer than OotP. How good was PoA with only a couple hundred pages. Can't wait.

Posted by pixeegirl Mar 20th 2007

Yeah. I will wait for the official statement from JK's website.

Posted by Roonilwwazlib Mar 20th 2007

Yes! I want an 1000000 page book! Got a little scared yesterday.

Posted by Lily_Windsor Mar 20th 2007

PLEASE it should be twice as long as OotP!!! (though I know it won't be that long, but still....) I want it to take me LOOOONG time to read!

Posted by Quiscalus Mar 20th 2007

Phew!! That's a relief! I hope it's longer than OoTP...

Posted by potterchatta101 Mar 20th 2007

ya! top ten...thats good...if its longer of corse...

Posted by shacklebolt007 Mar 20th 2007

Yeah, I don't believe in any of this, "Wooo, I posted first" garbage. If you're going to post something first, I say, post something that's worth reading. Meanwhile, I meant "It'd" above.

Posted by HpAlwaysN4ever Mar 20th 2007

I knew it.

Posted by linds_pinds Mar 20th 2007

I can't wait for this book! So exciting!

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 20th 2007

www.harrypotterabout.com NOW ITS CLAIMED THAT ITS DEFINITLY 780! THE SOONER JO ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL THE BETTER!

Posted by Frey Mar 20th 2007

Thanks, Ciaran! I hope we get soon the official information, not just rumours.

Posted by CeciliaJ Mar 20th 2007

I hope it goes on forever ;) Or at least 800-900 pages..

Posted by Tricky12 Mar 20th 2007

OH PLEASE OH PLEASE BE BIGGER THAN OOTP!!!

Posted by xxcrazedpotterfanxx Mar 20th 2007

I hope it will be bigger than OotP! There is so many loose ends that need tying up.

Posted by Lunarian Mar 20th 2007

Thank goodness for that. Whew. I'm holding out for an encyclopedia-sized Deathly Hallows. hehhehe :)

Posted by Ryuji35 Mar 20th 2007

I need a longer one! I mean this is the last book and it should be longer than any other book considering it has many thing to explain and all that stuff that was left behind by the previous books!

Posted by pigwidgeon Mar 20th 2007

how about mugglenet keeps posting different page number rumours, then if bloomsbury keeps saying "it's not got that number of pages", then we can eventually find out by process of elimination.

Posted by prto_2007 Mar 20th 2007

Great! It won't bother me if Deathly Hallows is longer than OOTP. I knew it would happen. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 20th 2007

GUARANTEED: AMERICAN DEATHLY HALLOWS IS 784 PAGES!!!!

Posted by TheMuggleFromAnywhere Mar 20th 2007

how do know thats guaranteed? anyway i hope it is the longest book out of the series. it should be cause it has to clear up so many things. a lot has to happen.

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 20th 2007

MUGGLENET WILL HAVE THE STORY SOON! 784 AMERICAN EDITION-IM TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE BRITISH ONE....

Posted by Czechmetz Mar 20th 2007

Actually, it's 784!!! Ahhh! get over to Leaky!

Posted by Susan14 Mar 20th 2007

I don't believe the guarantee from RyAn...do you have a reliable link that can prove it? Bloomsbury just said they have not counted the pages yet for the UK yet.... @_@ Gosh, I remember when people were claiming OotP was going to be 1200-1400 pages long. >_< It better not be inbetween the size of PoA and GoF. This book's got to be huge, there's a lot of loose ends to tie up!

Posted by roxorgirl13 Mar 20th 2007

i hope its huge!!! ill definently finish it that night/ ill grab it at midnight, and right when i get in the car, ill pull out a flashlight and start reading!

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 20th 2007

Susan14 Im saddened you dont believe me-i have no reason to lie. Anyway people know im not-its on leaky, hpana and yahoo. Scholastic have announced 784. Bloomsbury wont tell what british count is yet.

Posted by SEVERUSx Mar 20th 2007

didn't JK say she wouldn't write a bigger book than OOTP? I sure hope it'll be at least 700 pages, or else my fantasy would end in les 24 hours reading =/

Posted by marygwendolyn Mar 20th 2007

the-leaky-cauldron.org states that scholastic says the book will have 784 pages... it was announced today at 10:23AM Eastern Time. hopefully it's a little bit longer... ~m~

Posted by ansu Mar 20th 2007

I hope that DH will be 28633 pages long.

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 20th 2007

We NOW KNOW IT IS 784! The british edition WILL BE LESS we know that! Id estimate 700-730 mark....

Posted by Lynn Mar 20th 2007

I don't want a huge book.What's the point.It can be brilliant and 700 pages,and 1000000 pages and very boring!

Posted by hpbutterbeer Mar 20th 2007

dude, it's official for scholastic, 784 pages.

Posted by valsul Mar 20th 2007

this book should be the longest since it the last one. there are so many things that wil have to be done to finish the serires. hopefully all the questions will be answered. (mainly will voldemort be finally defeated and not come back when harry is 70 or something.)

Posted by MichelleLynn Mar 20th 2007

yeah, if this book isnt the longest, then that will be...weird. it almost HAS to be really long, in order to tie up all the loose ends and make everything work out.

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 20th 2007

ITS NOT THE LONGEST PEOPLE!! Its official! Its 2nd! Jeesh when are Mugglenet gonna post this news!!

Posted by drhawks Mar 20th 2007

784 pages, officially! rock on!

Posted by Doxybiter_DH_ Mar 20th 2007

Aaaah Leaky says Scholastic says it's 784! That's signifficantly longer than Goblet! DH will be the second longest! That's good enough for me:)

Posted by IWHWM4ever Mar 20th 2007

I don't think that it should be some ridiculous amount of pages so that all the ends can be tied up. Jo said herself that she has given us everything we need to figure out the end of the series. She also hinted that she will not be answering some things so there will still be room for discussion after the series ends. I think it will be more fun to speculate on some things and come up with our own solutions! One more thing, why is everyone so concerned that they are in the top ten or first or second in posting? Some people even just comment that they are first and don't actually say anything about the news they are commenting on. It's pathetic, really....

Posted by Quiscalus Mar 20th 2007

Yeah, I just read on Leaky that it's 784 pages. That's a relief. I would've liked it to be longer than OoTP, but at least it is longer than GoF. SO EXCITED!

Posted by Heiress_of_Insanity Mar 20th 2007

It BETTER be longer than OotP...I'm hoping for somewhere in the 800-900 pages area, at least. C'mon Jo!!!!!! Give your fans some love (not like you haven't already given us any...^_^) Please??????????????

Posted by RyAn2006 Mar 20th 2007

Posted by jumba123 Mar 20th 2007

The Fat Friar told me that Umbridge tried to get back into his [Dumbledore's] office last night after they'd searched the castle and the grounds for him. Couldn't get past the gargoyle. The Head's office has sealed itself against her. Apparenly she had a right little tantrum...
