David Yates talks OOTP and more
The LA Times has a new article on the Order of the Phoenix movie, quoting director David Yates, Dan Radcliffe, and Emma Watson.During one particularly emotional scene in this installment, Radcliffe recalls [Gary] Oldman [Sirius Black] saying to him: "'Dan, do you mind if I do something sort of physical with you before we start?' I was like, 'No, no,' assuming he meant giving me a hug. He came up to me and grabbed me and shook me really, really hard. As he went away, he kept eye contact. And tears started to form up. I had no idea how it happened, but it worked."Emma also mentioned that Yates is perfect for this film: "I don't know if he could have directed any of the other ones. This was his story to tell."
Also, in an article previewing some of this summer's movies, USA Weekend writes about how Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch made her own radish earrings (which we told you previously) for use in the film.
The costume department on the film hired several jewelry designers to make the earrings, but Evanna Lynch, the young actress who plays Luna, was so into the character that she made her own. "And they were better!" says costume director Jany Temime. "More artsy-craftsy, more like what a creative young girl would do. The stuff we had was too professional. So we used hers."Thanks to those who emailed!

I still REALLY don't understand how Gary Oldman hasn't won an Oscar. Or maybe it was an academy award, I forget, but still, he is one of the most talented actors of all time, and i really respect him.
LOL poor dan...first having to go through a counselor that tells you depressing stories and then gary oldman shaking the hell outta him. i think dan is evolving into a traumatized kid just for the sake of this movie
Evanna is GREAT...at first I didn't like her...I thought she was too blond to be Luna, and way too pretty!!!But making raddish earrings is something that not everybody would do, so...It's weird but POSITIVE!!!I'm looking forward to watching the film, even if I DO know it will disappoint me, because the book is SO beautiful and magic-as always...-let's hope that David Yates will be a peachy director!!!:)...He appears to be oooookkk!!!!!!!!!!!:)
The more and more I read about this movie, the more and more I am excited. I really like David Yates, I think he is going to be great for the series.
I love that Evanna was into her character so much - I love it when actors realize how much people love the characters they are playing - her making her own radish earrings, and being so forward about wanting to do justice to Luna is awesome.

haha. i just read the article in the paper. it has a couple new pix, but that's about it. buutttt...the article said that the movie premieres july 11? i thought it was july 8 in the u.s...or are they talking about the uk?
I read that Luna thing in the newspaper today, even though I had already read that little tidbit here on MuggleNet a few months ago. And the thing with Dan & Gary sounds like it worked, so I hope it looks good in the movie.
