David Yates talks OOTP and more
The LA Times has a new article on the Order of the Phoenix movie, quoting director David Yates, Dan Radcliffe, and Emma Watson.During one particularly emotional scene in this installment, Radcliffe recalls [Gary] Oldman [Sirius Black] saying to him: "'Dan, do you mind if I do something sort of physical with you before we start?' I was like, 'No, no,' assuming he meant giving me a hug. He came up to me and grabbed me and shook me really, really hard. As he went away, he kept eye contact. And tears started to form up. I had no idea how it happened, but it worked."Emma also mentioned that Yates is perfect for this film: "I don't know if he could have directed any of the other ones. This was his story to tell."
Also, in an article previewing some of this summer's movies, USA Weekend writes about how Luna Lovegood actress Evanna Lynch made her own radish earrings (which we told you previously) for use in the film.
The costume department on the film hired several jewelry designers to make the earrings, but Evanna Lynch, the young actress who plays Luna, was so into the character that she made her own. "And they were better!" says costume director Jany Temime. "More artsy-craftsy, more like what a creative young girl would do. The stuff we had was too professional. WOW!Is not everyday that we see such an amazing actor like Gary Oldman who already said adores Dan. I guess he did this to show him how can be a good actor in the future.No wonder I think Gary Oldman is an amazing actor! I'm sure this is a good way for him to put Dan's emotion exposed! And cool for Evanna! I think she'll be perfect as Luna!

As excited as I was to read about Movie 5, all I could focus on was the tons of "sexual politics" Yates said is in Movie 6!!!!!! Bring on the Won-Won/Lavender and the Harry/Ginny!!!

That's really good what Gary Oldman did because it will inject some reality into the scene. It's very easy for them to just put fake tears in an actor's eyes and then for the actor to pretend to look sad but it takes more to get a bit of real emotion out. I hope this was for the part where Sirius bites it, it looks pretty intense just from the quick shot we got in the trailer. We are extremely lucky to have great actors like Oldman and David Thewlis in these roles. IMO they are PROPER actors. And Oldman can play just about anything, just check his range of roles from Hannibal to The Fifth Element to playing Gordon in Batman Begins.
time to watch the bath tub scene in the 4th HP movie. SWEETNESS. i freakin harry potter...ahhh its so overwhelming i want that book and movie to freakin come out NOW!

whoa... that is like so weird of Gary Oldman to do that. that is like the weirdest way to make someone tear up. that's retarded actully... they should just give him eye drops to use or something... but shaking him, I don't know that's sort of 'Umbridge like' if you know what i mean! man they must really want him to cry if they're like shaking him really really hard! man, poor daniel radcliffe though... has to go through stuff like this just for the movie. but i bet the movie is going to be awesome though!!!! whoo can't wait! just a couple months!! lol can't wait for the book either!! awesome!

Didn't any of your read the entire article in the LA times? That Gary shaking Dan bit is old news. What they are all arguing in TLC is how Dan compared Harry to a Vietnam War veteran. He also mentioned that Fudge is like Blair. David Yates must have been a big influence on Dan for him to become so political.

I saw that on tv last week (the part about harry) I think it was behind the scenes on E! so look out for it if you want to actually hear daniel radcliff describing it in person. evanna seems perfect for the role of luna so far which is good...lets see what happens in the movie
