Interview with Honeydukes:
1. Why do you play wizard rock?
It's a perfect combination of 2 things I love: music and books.
2. What do you personally get out of being in a wizard rock band?
I am so delighted when someone likes my stuff. If it gets someone dancing or even just tapping their feet and wiggling in their chair, I've accomplished my goal.
3. What influences your music/your style?
Obviously, the books are a big influence. I try and let the mood from the books influence the mood of the music. Musically, I'm influenced by just about all the wizard rock bands out there.
4. How long have you been playing?
I've been fussing around with DJing for years. But I've been a wizard rocker for just under a year.
5. Do you plan to continue having shows and writing songs even though the Harry Potter series has been completed, and why?
Absolutely. It was never the anticipation of the end that inspired me. I was always inspired by what was already out there. So the release of the last book just means that I've got one more book that I can use to write more songs. As long as people are interested, I'll keep coming back to wizard rock.
6. What is your favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?
Gaining new fans and having someone tell me they enjoy my music.
7. What is your least favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?
Not having enough time to write more songs.
8. What advice do you have for potential future wizard rockers?
Do it. There's room for everyone.
9. How do you explain wizard rock to people who are new to the genre or to people who (heaven forbid) have never read Harry Potter?
I'm not sure that I really talk to people that haven't read the books!
10. Is your band completely DIY, and do you think that being completely DIY is an integral part of being a wizard rock band?
Yeah, I pretty much do everything myself. I'm not sure that it's integral, but I do think there's a certain authenticity and sense of self-reliance that comes with being a DIY band and that seems to be very consistent with the themes from the Harry Potter world.
11. Have you ever been approached by a corporate record-label asking to sponsor your band? If so, what was your reaction and if not, what would your reaction be in such a situation?
Heh. I wish. I'd probably turn them down. I do it for the love of the material, not for money.
12. Has your band ever had any copyright-infringement issues, and if so how have you dealt with them?
Nope, luckily.
13. Is there any specific message you would like to share with your fans?
Thank you for all the support!
