Interview with Ariana D:

1. Why do you play wizard rock?

Mostly for fun but I love being able to take part in the fandom! Wizard Rock is a great way for fans to get involved and to meet others who are interested in Harry Potter!

2. What do you personally get out of being in a wizard rock band?

Getting to know loads of awesome people! I've met so many new friends and I love being an active part of the fandom!

3. What influences your music/your style?

Out of wrock bands, mostly The Black Sisters and Roonil Wazlib. TBS are the ones who got me into writing after seeing their YouTube stuff and hearing their songs. I'm sooooo glad they got me into it ‘cause I love being a Wizard Rocker!! Roonil Wazlib influenced my style of music: just me and my guitar. Her song 'Mollywobbles' could easily be a normal song! Out of Muggle singers, Amy MacDonald really inspires my music.

4. How long have you been playing?

As a Wrocker, not that long. I've only just started recording. 'The MuggleCast Blues' wasn't a planned song. I wrote it as soon as I heard it was ending its weekly shows :( I've got some more songs coming up soon, so keep watch!! I've been playing guitar for a year now, and I also study voice, French horn and piano. I'm a band geek and proud!!

5. Do you plan to continue having shows and writing songs even though the Harry Potter series has been completed, and why?

Of course!! Harry Potter will only end when there are no fans left, so we have to keep it going! It's down to the fans now, and I'm never going to stop loving Harry Potter!!

6. What is your favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?

Meeting loads of people who love wizard rock too!! It's great getting to know new friends to talk about Harry Potter and who love it as much as I
do!

7. What is your least favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?

I don't think there is a least favourite part!! A slight downside is the pressure you're under to do good music, but in Wizard Rock no one really cares if the music is good, if it's about Harry Potter then the song is awesome!!

8. What advice do you have for potential future wizard rockers?

Just go for it! Listen to a wide range of music; there are a lot of less known Wrock bands who have amazing music!! Find a style and a theme you like for a song, like a character or object, and just write. Don't worry too much about perfect sounds and lyrics, just go for it!

9. How do you explain wizard rock to people who are new to the genre or to people who (heaven forbid) have never read Harry Potter?

Great music about the best books ever!! Most people are surprised to learn that there is such a thing as Wizard Rock! My friend Ainsley loves HP too and I've recently got her into MuggleCast and Wizard Rock - she is hooked!

10. Is your band completely DIY, and do you think that being completely DIY is an integral part of being a wizard rock band?

It’s just me and my guitar. I don't think it's essential to do it all yourself, but it does separate Wizard Rockers from other musicians, not all of them play their music themselves. Take that Rihanna :P

11. Have you ever been approached by a corporate record-label asking to sponsor your band? If so, what was your reaction and if not, what would your reaction be in such a situation?

No I haven't, and I don't know how I would react! Shocked probably!
I can't see it happening though :P

12. Has your band ever had any copyright-infringement issues, and if so how have you dealt with them?

Glad to say I haven't! I try to write my own music as well as lyrics. 'The MuggleCast Blues' was a basic blues chord pattern so no problems there, though I am working on and off on a song to the tune of 'American Pie' - we'll see how it goes :D

13. Is there any specific message you would like to share with your fans?

I wouldn't say message, but I'd like to spread the Potterness and hopefully bring in new fans of Wizard Rock :D
