Interview with Basilisk and the Kreachers:

1. Why do you play wizard rock?

All of us members are basically obsessed with all aspects of Harry Potter, whether it be the books, movies, or music. When we first discovered that some people actually created music based on our favorite series, we had to be a part of it ourselves. So, we started our own rock band.

2. What do you personally get out of being in a wizard rock band?

It makes us feel a part of the Harry Potter world. Reading and discussing the books is always fun, but writing songs adds a whole new level to our obsession. Plus, when we hear that our songs make people laugh, it makes us feel so warm and fuzzy inside.

3. What influences your music/your style?

Harry Potter influences us, of course. We find inspiration for our lyrics from characters, inside jokes, puns, theories, relationships, little known facts, basically anything. Our style is based on what we find in the GarageBand loop library.

4. How long have you been playing?

We've been happily writing songs since July 2007.

5. Do you plan to continue having shows and writing songs even though the Harry Potter series has been completed, and why?

We'll definitely still be writing songs. Just because the books are over doesn't mean the magic should be.

6. What is your favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?

Our favorite part of being in a wrock band is writing songs together, and talking with other wrock bands about the music.

7. What is your least favorite part of being in a wizard rock band?

Our least favorite part is trying to record the songs, because someone eventually laughs and we have to start again.

8. What advice do you have for potential future wizard rockers?

If you have any inclination to start a wrock band, just do it! You don't have to be a good singer, play any instruments, or have any superhuman musical ability. You only need to love Harry Potter!

9. How do you explain wizard rock to people who are new to the genre or to people who (heaven forbid) have never read Harry Potter?

Wizard Rock (aka Wrock) is a genre that is unlike any music genre before it. It encompasses so many different subgenres (rock, pop, rap, etc.); the one common factor is Harry Potter.

10. Is your band completely DIY, and do you think that being completely DIY is an integral part of being a wizard rock band?

We are completely do it yourself, as long as that includes using Garageband to compose the songs. Being DIY is an integral part, because it shows how dedicated you are to your music. If you're DIY, it means you really love Harry Potter and his world, and will do anything to be a part of it.

11. Have you ever been approached by a corporate record-label asking to sponsor your band? If so, what was your reaction and if not, what would your reaction be in such a situation?

No, we haven't. We would be completely shocked. We're surprised enough when we actually get messages about people wanting to book us for shows!

12. Has your band ever had any copyright-infringement issues, and if so how have you dealt with them?

No, and we hope we never will.

13. Is there any specific message you would like to share with your fans?

Thank you so much for listening to our music, and stay tuned 'cause there's more to come!
