Potter Profile - Casey

August 30, 2009

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?
I remember seeing my older sister reading SS (PS for the Brits) and i thought it looked pretty stupid to be honest. However, my parents bought a copy of the book from Amazon, and on the day it arrived, i happened to be really bored. My mom gave me the choice of reading the book or cleaning my room. I read the book, became addicted, and the rest is history.

How are you feeling now that the series is over?
I was sort of depressed, but I was very lucky in that I was discovering other books and tv shows to occupy my time in Harry Potter's stead, such as the Inheritence Cycle and The X-Files, to name a few. Yet, Harry Potter was my first love and will always hold the biggest piece of my heart. Can't wait for Jo to release her encyclopedia and other books though.

Let's talk magical objects. What would you see standing in front of The Mirror of Erised?
I imagine I would see myself as a succesful author with a smoking hot husband. Yes, I think that's all I really want in life. Although I really hope my hubbie likes Harry Potter as well, or his looks count for nothing.

Pretend that all of the Time Turners were in fact not destroyed. What would you use one for?
Probably the exact same thing Hermione used hers for. I am much in the same vein as Hermione, except I tend to read more fiction and am quite a bit more laid back. But yeah, I would love to be able to take a whole bunch of classes but there really is only so much time to work with.

Congratulations! You just inherited a pair of Vanishing Cabinets! Where would you place them?
One in my room, obviously. The other would probably be in the largest library I can find, so I can sneak in to read whenever I wanted, and read whatever I wanted. Yes, I really love reading that much.

If there was a way to make a Horcrux without committing murder, would you do it?
I'm going to say no, because living forever has never appealed to me. Although, maybe it'd be cool to live for a couple hundred years just to see how the centuries change.

Finally, which Hallow are you most drawn to and why?
I'm not much of a trouble maker, so the Cloak is out, and I don't have very many enemies, so I don't really care for the Wand. I would pick the Resurrection Stone so that I could have a chance to meet famous people from the past like Oscar Wilde or Amelia Earheart (also, I'd ask her what the heck happened on her final flight when she dissappeared). Just cool stuff like that.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
A big thank you to Mugglenet for picking me after trying for the last three years, a congrats to Emerson on his engagement (old news by now but never got a chance before I went to Basic Training this summer), and a shout out to all my fellow Potterheads who have been hanging on for all these years. Also, if Ben Schoen is ever single and looking...;)

Quotes
They make a fuss about Hogsmeade, but I assure you, Harry, it's not all it's cracked up to be. All right, the sweetshop's rather good, and Zonko's Joke Shop is frankly dangerous, and yes, the Shrieking Shack's always worth a visit, but really, Harry, apart from that you're not missing anything.
