The Pensieve #11: Goodbye for Now
By Joshua Smith
Writing a column for MuggleNet has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Sharing my thoughts and theories with you guys is indescribable, and I’ll never fully give it up. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the time to write a column every week or two weeks.
Now I’m not retiring, but I am cutting back my workload a bit. I’ll still write something when I have time, but my column isn’t going to be regular anymore, at least not until the summer. Between college, internships and various other things, I just can’t write all the time, and it would be an insult to you if I just threw a half-assed column together just to meet a deadline.
My colleague and friend Dan Hoppel is going through something very similar, and will also be taking this little sabbatical. I’d like to thank Dan for inspiring me to ask for my own column, as well as helping me along when I was new to the MuggleNet scene. He was the pioneer of the weekly column here, and we all owe him our gratitude.
I’d also like to thank Emerson and the rest of the MuggleNet team for giving me a chance to write, and a forum to voice my opinions on. They gave me a chance to express what I thought needed to be expressed, and I am extremely grateful for that opportunity.
I’m not going to say goodbye in this column, because I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to be here for a while… Thinks of this more as a long vacation. You’ll still hear from me from time to time, much like I’m sending you a postcard from a beach in the Caribbean. I’d like to thank all of you for reading my column and discussing it with me. Your emails have meant a lot to me, making me realize how lucky I am to be doing what I’m doing. So goodbye for now, and I’ll see you when I see you.
P.S. Congrats to Sean Raines for being the first to answer the movie quote question!
