J.K. Rowling Discovers Scottish Family Lineage
An interesting story regarding J.K. Rowling‘s ancestry today made the front page of one of Scotland’s largest tabloids, the Sunday Mail. According to the article, Jo has discovered she is the great-granddaughter of a pioneering doctor, Dugald Campbell, who helped set up a national health service in Hawaii in the late 19th century.
Genealogist Anthony Adolph stated: ‘There would not seem to be anything to suggest that their descendant would become such a fantastic, imaginative writer. Then I uncovered this incredible Scottish doctor. His extraordinary life perhaps hints at the career of his extraordinary great-granddaughter.’
More details have been released in the Scotsman, which is proud to be able to say that “Scotland can claim JK as its own”. Here is J.K. Rowling’s family tree (Dugald Campbell included), which we showed you last month.
