“Beedle the Bard” Sells For Nearly Two Million Pounds
On the 1st of November, we told you that J.K. Rowling has written Tales of Beedle the Bard for a charity auction to be held by Sotheby’s. The auction was held today in London, and the book was auctioned off for £1,950,000 ($3.98 million)! From CBBC Newsround:
The “Harry Potter” creator, who watched the auction live on the internet, told Newsround that she was “stunned and ecstatic” at the news.
J.K. hand wrote the jewel-encrusted volumes of short stories and gave six of them to her friends who had helped and supported her while she wrote the seven “Potter” books.
She told Newsround: “I’m stunned and ecstatic. This will mean so much to the children desperately in need of help. It means Christmas has come early for me.”
