The Quidditch World Cup is an event you do NOT want to miss
On November 12-13, 2011 the Quidditch World Cup will take center stage on Randall’s Island in New York City. 100 teams and over 2,000 athletes from all over the country will compete for the coveted Quidditch World Cup title sponsored by the International Quidditch Association.
Based on the wizarding sport created in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Quidditch is played with 3 chasers, 2 beaters, 1 keeper, and 1 seeker on brooms, and the Golden Snitch doing its best to stay hidden during the game. This game is extremely fast paced and hard-hitting, and only the best conditioned athletes can survive the grueling tournament.
Last year, Middlebury College, the birthplace of muggle Quidditch, took home the top prize, and this year’s competition will be even more fierce as they try to repeat as champions. You can purchase tickets for the event now and sign up to volunteer via the IQA website here.
MuggleNet will be covering the event over the weekend and we hope to see you there.
