Ralph Fiennes hopes “Potter” fans lured to watch him perform Shakespeare
Actor Ralph Fiennes – who brilliantly portrayed the evil Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series – is taking on the role of Prospero in Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ in London’s West End.
Ralph hopes that ‘Potter’ fans, who may not generally be interested in Shakespeare, are drawn to the play to see him perform on stage. ‘The Tempest’ may seem like a stark contrast to the Harry Potter films, however, Ralph said there is a similarity in the acting:
“There is an expressiveness, an extraordinary elasticity of expression in Shakespeare which is thrilling to me and I hope other people find it thrilling. That’s why I’m doing this. I think the language still connects.“
The tempest runs until October 29 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
