MuggleNet Throwback: J.K. Rowling begins ‘Deathly Hallows’ Book Tour in USA
This week in 2007, J.K. Rowling began the first leg of her Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows Book Tour at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California.
She read an excerpt from Chapter 3: The Dursleys Departing to approximately 1,600 eager fans followed by answering 12 questions from the audience. She wrapped up the day by signing autographs for all 1,600 attendees that were selected from 40 local Los Angeles schools.
Of special interest: J.K. Rowling was asked about how the future Harry Potter Encyclopedia was coming along, to which she replied, “It’s not coming along, and I haven’t started writing it. I never said it was the next thing I’d do.” Well, four years later we have a version of that encyclopedia in Pottermore.
The tour made its way to New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Auditorium on October 18th, 2007 and then Carnegie Hall on October 19th, 2007. There was also a very special event that took place the evening of the 19th, where sweepstakes winners were selected for a special night with J.K. Rowling at Carnegie Hall.
