Quidditch news: Midwest Cup to benefit Indiana State Fair victims; Quidditch appears at Medieval Festival
MuggleNet SnitchCenter news has been updated to bring you the latest news in the world of Muggle Quidditch.
In this week’s news:
This past weekend showcased several Quidditch matches at the New York Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park. Attending the event were the NY Badassilisks, NYU Nundus, Jetpack Ninja Dinosaurs, and Stony Brook University. They held several matches as hundreds of attendees gathered to watch and were highly successful at convincing the muggles that Quidditch is a real sport. Thanks to team representative Jonathan Rosenthall, photos are available at this link.
The Turtle Cup was held this past weekend at the University of Maryland on their campus in College Park. A come-from-behind snitch grab allowed Virginia Tech to edge out the University of Maryland team in the finals to take home the Turtle Cup Championship.
Lastly, The Midwest Cup will be held this coming weekend in Fishers, Indiana with 17 teams scheduled to attend the event: University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, Grand Valley University, Ohio State University, Bowling Green University, Michigan State University, Purdue University, Ball State University, Jetpack Ninja Dinosaurs from Space, Miami of Ohio, Illinois State University, Marquette University, University of Kansas, St. Mary’s College, Loyola Quidditch, Missouri, and the Red Owls.
While Purdue and Ball State Universities are teaming up to host the event, it will also benefit a worthy cause. Proceeds from the weekend events will go towards the Indianapolis State Fair stage collapse victims. Details of the event can be read here.
