Recipe of the Week: Shepherd’s Pie by Sabrina
This week, Madam Rosmerta is featuring a new main course in the Three Broomsticks thanks to this recipe sent in by Sabrina: Shepherd’s Pie. This dish was originally known as “cottage pie” and has been coming out of ovens since 1791 when the potato was first introduced as an edible crop. The term “shepherd’s pie” did not appear until 1854 and was traditionally used when lamb or mutton was the main meat ingredient. In the wizarding world, we see that Harry eats his shepherd’s pie without much of an appetite in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets since he has to spend time in detention with Professor Lockhart answering his fan mail. Now, with the help of this recipe from Rosmerta’s Recipes, you can enjoy a delicious meal just like the ones served at Hogwarts and the Three Broomsticks.
Every other week, we are featuring a new recipe for you to try at home, and we would love to receive a Harry Potter-related recipe that you enjoy making. Do you know how to make delicious British, French, or other European fare? What about a bouillabaisse, kippers, or Molly’s Alfredo Sauce? Well, send it in! Simply follow the recipe submission guidelines, and don’t forget to take a photo of your finished dish. Perhaps your recipe will be featured on the front page just like Sabrina’s this week.
