MuggleNet Throwback: NY Public Library unveils original Beedle the Bard book
One of the original seven Tales of Beedle the Bard books handwritten by author J.K. Rowling was unveiled at the New York Public Library this week back in 2008. Performing the honors were Arthur Levine, Scholastic co-editor of the Harry Potter series and Paul LeClerc, the president of the New York Public Library.
You may also recall that one of the original seven went up for a charity auction at Sotheby’s in London and the winning bid by Amazon was an impressive £1,950,000, which was donated by Rowling to The Children’s Voice Campaign, a charity she co-founded.
After winning the bid and showcasing some of the stories, Amazon began publishing the book for the general public with the proceeds from the sale going to the Children’s High Level Group.
