MuggleNet Throwback: “Beedle the Bard” goes on sale this week in 2008
Do you remember this exciting event in Harry Potter history? Beedle the Bard went on sale this week back on December 3, 2008.
We first heard of Beedle the Bard from the will of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, when he bequeathed his personal original copy to Miss Hermione Granger. Little did we know of the secret contents contained in that book the first time we read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Later in Deathly Hallows, we read along with Hermione the story of The Tale of the Three Brothers as more secrets were revealed on the Deathly Hallows themselves as explained by Xenophilius Lovegood.
We knew there were other stories in the book, but not the contents; however, that all changed three years ago this week when the incredibly imaginative and inspirational author, J.K. Rowling, allowed Amazon – the winner of the bidding from the hand-written original book – to release to the public the compendium of tales for charity.
If you haven’t read these tales or the notes from Professor Dumbledore, you are missing out on a real treat from the Potter author.
Tell us what your favorite tale in the book is and why in the comments below.
