MuggleNet Throwback: David Yates Officially Named Director of “Order of the Phoenix” (2005)
Our MuggleNet Throwback this week takes us all the way back seven (7) years ago this week, when on January 20, 2005, Warner Brothers issued their official Press Release naming David Yates the director of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
David Yates, was an acclaimed British TV director who directed episodes of BAFTA-winning shows like The Young Visitors, State of Play, The Way We Live Now, and The Sins. Directing Order of the Phoenix was to be his first Hollywood feature as he would give Harry Potter his vision and direction that would wind up taking the series to its finale in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
Producer David Heyman said in the press release:
I am thrilled that David Yates is going to direct Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Not only does he have tremendous passion for the world of Harry Potter, but he is a great director with a keen visual sense who fills every frame with humanity and compassion for his characters.
On behalf of the fans, we are grateful to the passion and dedication that David Yates brought to the series in the final four (4) blockbuster films. Thank You David!
