Fan Art of the Week: “Silver”
Our next fan art submission of the week is a musical one, an original song written and performed by Lindsey Collins and her folk rock band “Scarlet Virginia.” The piece is titled ‘Silver’ and was inspired by Snape’s unrequited love for Lily.
You can read the lyrics along with the video right here:
A simple mistake, a heart meant to break
Followed you blindly inside
A flower too lovely to ever fully bloom
I ran away and cried
So many years I made up my mind
To hide inside
For you were never mine
The strength to be weak, the courage to fall
Everything changes and dies
Silver could never become gold
Nothing of worth in your eyes
So many years I made up my mind
To hide inside
For you were never mine
Noah’s Notes: This is extremely mellow sounding, plus a little sad, so it really seems to capture Snape’s mood and character. That’s perfect considering this whole song is coming from Snape’s POV. The verses are small, but Lindsay takes time with the music in each word – there’s really some pretty great poetry there.
As you can see above, MuggleNet’s Fan Art Section has changed in a very big way. You can now submit crafts, poetry, and original music in addition to your Potter-themed paintings and drawings.
