Warner Brothers lobbying Academy voters for “Deathly Hallows – Part 2” Oscar nominations
Warner Brothers is trying to work its magic on the Academy by reportedly lobbying voters to nominate Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in a variety of categories for the Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director for David Yates.
We have previously reported on the variety of publicity that Warner Brothers has given towards the Academy Awards with their ‘For Your Consideration…’ promotions. But they also realize that time is running out to give the franchise its well deserved send-off.
In addition to the Best Picture and Best Director nods, Warner Brothers is also pushing for Best Actor and Best Actress to go to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson respectively, and Best Supporting Actor to Alan Rickman for his double-agent performance as Professor Severus Snape.
Currently, according to Oscar Buzz, Alan Rickman leads the way in Most Mentioned Actors and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 leads in Most Mentioned Movies for this week.
Although it will certainly be an uphill challenge to get the Academy to nominate Harry Potter for the more prestigious awards, we like what Warner Brothers is doing and hope it will serve them well. The nominations will be formerly announced on January 24 and the Academy Awards will take place on February 26.
Keep your fingers crossed and let’s get our voices heard by the Academy.
