MuggleNet SnitchCenter Update: Complete coverage of the world’s Muggle Quidditch scene
In conjunction with the International Quidditch Association (IQA), MuggleNet SnitchCenter provides complete and comprehensive news, scores, and upcoming events for all of your muggle quidditch needs. This week in quidditch:
The Ohio Cup: The largest quidditch tournament in Ohio is now scheduled for April 14th at Ohio State University from 10:00am to 8:00pm.According to OSU captain, Luke Changet, the tournament will be held at Fred Beekman park and plans to have all of the Ohio state quidditch teams along with some regional high profile teams involved in the event. Utah Snow Cup results: The Utah Crimson Fliers won the Utah Snow Cup despite losing the final game to Northern Arizona University Narwhals. Utah won the tournament based on overall point differential since there was a three way tie for first after play stopped. Western Canadian games: University of Victoria defeated University of British Columbia two games to one in Western Canada’s first bout of inter-university quidditch matches. The teams will look to meet again next month at University of British Columbia’s home field for a rematch.
Western Cup: This season’s Western Cup expects to hold the largest ever quidditch tournament west of the Mississippi as close to 20 teams are expected to attend. The event will take place in sunny California on UCLA’s intramural fields on March 10 and 11. Register your team right here. Quidditch Training camp in Australia: Since the QUAFL Cup last November, the Australian quidditch league has been booming. A rash of events are scheduled for 2012 as they look to send a competitive team to the Quidditch World Cup in April 2013. The first step is a weekend long “Quidditch Camp” to be held this weekend at Australian National University.
Quidditch at Conventions: The IQA will be traveling to quite a few fan conventions in order to showcase demo matches and presentations to spread the love of the sport. Currently the IQA is scheduled for:
- Chicago’s Comic and Entertainment Expo – April 13-15
- Ascendio – July 12-15
- LeakyCon – August 9-12
- New York Comic Con – October 11-14
