MuggleNet’s HP Character March Madness advances to the “Sweet 16”
The MuggleNet Harry Potter March Madness Tournament continues after a controversial ending to the second round of competition. A review of the tournament voting and a full inquiry with the March Madness league office was conducted, and the results are now in.
One or more people decided to abuse the system by creating an automated voting system to quickly push several underdog characters forward with thousands upon thousands of votes. Even though we encouraged voting more than one time, this abuse of the system was unwarranted and unfair to the competition.
Therefore, the March Madness committee has decided to move the characters into the ‘Sweet 16’ round that were leading the competition as of Saturday evening (2 full days of voting in Round 2). Additionally, while we were hoping to allow the real fans to vote more than once, we have now restricted the voting to once per person.
The ‘Sweet 16’ round will be open through Saturday at which time we will transfer the leaders (no matter who they are) to the Elite 8 Round. You will have 2 full days to vote for the characters in each round, and the finals will occur on April 2, which is the same day as the finals in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The winner will be announced on April 3.
