MuggleNet Throwback: W.O.M.B.A.T. tests on J.K. Rowling website in 2006
In this week’s MuggleNet Throwback, we use our Time-Turner to remember the good times we had taking J.K. Rowling’s W.O.M.B.A.T exams on her website.
On March 31, 2006, J.K. Rowling opened the locked door on her website to reveal to fans a new set of exams that she had issued: The Wizards’ Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Test, or W.O.M.B.A.T.s. These tests were administered by the Wizarding Examinations Authority under the direction of Griselda Marchbanks and allowed us Muggles to check out our extensive knowledge of the Harry Potter canon and intuitive understanding of the wizarding world.
The first of these exams were opened until April 4, 2006 when the door on her website was once again locked from the public eye. Muggles all over the world waited anxiously for several days wondering what grade they would receive on their exams.
Finally, on April 7, the results were sent by eOwl and the discussions on the Internet were of nothing other than the individual grades received. Did you pass your W.O.M.B.A.T. exam? For a full review of the questions asked, you can refer to the W.O.M.B.A.T. Test 1 page on the Harry Potter Lexicon right here.
Lastly, on this same subject, the MuggleNet O.W.L. exams are only 2 months away. Are you studying for your exams? Let us know in the comments below if you remember the W.O.M.B.A.T.s and what you are looking forward to with the upcoming O.W.L. exams?
