Director David Yates will NOT direct “Your Voice in My Head”
We had previously reported that Harry Potter director David Yates – who lead the charge for the final four Potter films – was slated to direct the new film from Warner Brothers, Your Voice in My Head. Unfortunately, due to a personal issue involving the health of a family member, he has opted to step down as director for this film.
Your Voice in My Head, which will star Harry Potter actress Emma Watson as the lead character, is based on Emma Forrest’s memoir. The film is still planned to proceed with production and chronicles Forrest’s [Watson] troublesome and self-harming behavior, as well as her relationship with her psychiatrist. Stanley Tucci is slated to portray the role of Emma’s psychiatrist.
An article from Deadline reported the David Yates was forced to drop out of the film after asking to delay filming the project until his family’s health issue was resolved. However, the writers and producers did not wish to wait on his return.
The film would have been Yates’ first return to directing since taking off on a well-deserved break after completing the final Potter film. The report from Deadline did state, however, that Yates may now take on the director’s chair in the film The Reliable Wife. However, this is only rumored at this time.
